Great place to visit but it is difficult with a wheelchair
It's rare that I quote Gary Neville, but this cathedral is UNBELIIIEVABLLE
To say I'm not religious, I enjoyed the hour I was in there observing their Good Friday service
Lichfield Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture. Built in 1195 and really sets the standard for the town. The grounds are surrounded with quirky buildings, shops, bars and restaurants. If you love history and want an interesting little town to explore, you have come to right place.
Awesome, powerful, fantastic, mysterious cathedral of Litchfield. Entrance is free of charge but you can donate to support its maintenance.
Amazing building. Easy to enjoy. A testimony to the way and the truth and the life.
Myself and the family went here from the Christmas market it was really cool. You pay by a donation whatever you want. It is really nice inside. Loads of history. Really liked it.
Absolutely lovely to walk around. Quiet little market town
Striking Gothic cathedral of great interest in a charming small city...well worth a visit
Great place to light a candle for the people that you may have lost( thats why I go)...loads of history with the building and lots of people to help you and answer your questions about Lichfield cathedral
A wonderful place of history, architecture and people.
So beautiful I could sit here all day what an atmosphere
This is a beautiful place well worth a visit . You can easily spend a day there looking round .
Based in the heart of lichfield it is a great attraction to go and visit. It is stunning from both the outside and inside. There is always activities and events to go to each day of the week which caters for both adults and children. Staff and organisers have always been very friendly every time we have visited.
A wonderful cathedral with something for everyone.
There are memorials to Johnson, Garrick, and Erasmus Darwin, and the collection of standards from the Staffordshire regiments and monuments to their fallen is very impressive.
Of course over seven hundred years the collection of ecclesiastical furnishings is most impressive from a beautiful altarpiece, through the remnants of a mediaeval wall painting, to what must be one hundred statues on the west face of the Cathedral.
Fantastic cathedral and place of worship, well worth seeing. No parking on site, but local parking in walking distance is available. Cafe next to the Cathedral also worth a visit.
Nice peaceful feeling when you walk in, lovely stained glass windows
Beautiful Cathedral, and it's free just give donation
Has a residual magic unlike any other. A timeless edifice of light and spiritual renewal.
Impressive and historic! I often visit the little chapel on the name of St. Chad which is 'hidden' at the very back of the church. Once a year an Orthodox Christian Liturgy takes place to honour and celebrate the nameday of the local Saint who established the Christian church in the Midlands. The first "Baptistirion" of the county can be visited, a few yardrs behind the cathedral. Very good visit overall, no matter how many times you go!
Illumination Show 17Th Dec 2018.
We go every year to this event and it is usually very good.... but not this year. There were lots more people for each time slot and the whole event was rushed and over crowded. The whole experience was like being herded like cattle. Unlike previous years, there was no illumination near the entrance driveway and one poor old man fell and injured himself as he was unable to see the kerb in the dark (fortunately by the time the security arrived he was back on his feet with no significant injury). In previous years we have taken a leisurely walk round and enjoyed the various light shows, but due to the crowds this wasn t possible this year. Also very few opportunities to buy hot drinks on the way round like previously (a missed opportunity to raise more money for the Cathedral)
Overall this is a beautiful Cathedral but we won t bother with this event again.
We enjoyed our visit and everyone was very knowledgeable
Cold and imposing. Falling to pieces. Lots of stonework is eroded. Scaffolding is holding parts up. Floor tiles uneven, loose and even missing in places.
Lots of history to enjoy but as a centre piece for lichfield visitors, a lot of money needs to b spent to bring it to its former glory.
Beautiful and stunning ! We always have a lovely time when attending events here and I would recommend Christmas time to all. It can get extremely busy during events so I would suggest selecting time slots from 9pm onwards if you prefer a More
Beautiful cathedral and lovely to be able to access it for a donation. So many cathedrals charge an entrance fee now. Staff were all very welcoming.
Truly a beautiful building full of history was lucky enough to pop in when a service was being given will go back over the festive period just to listen to the choir
Beautiful architecture, note there is only disabled parking at the cathedral
The volunteers were very helpful. The building is awesome from outside and also within. Not to my taste but an interesting art display for Easter. I welcomed the chance to participate in the 12.30pm service of Holy Communion. Will definitely be back again.
Always worth a visit. Very interesting statues of Kings on facade. Great stained glass windows.
The only surviving Medieval three spired Cathedral in England. A beautiful Cathedral situated next to Minster and Stowe pool. Great to visit to connect with the past and also conducive for contemplation and reflection. I've been visiting this Cathedral on a regular basis ever since I was a young lad and still find something new to enjoy and appreciate with each visit.
A Beautiful Gothic Cathedral With Some Stunning Details On The Front Of The Cathedral It's Worth A Visit.
As a local, I often forget about the cathedral which sounds a little ridiculous given the size of it but it's an amazing piece of architecture and highly recommended for anyone who hasn't been.
A beautiful centrepiece to the place I now call home after moving here from Birmingham in the late 90s.
Beautiful cathedral with exquisite carvings on the outside. A must-see if you are in Litchfield!
Very nice place with a huge history behind. We had a walk around and we went inside as well were you don't have to pay a ticket but the kid of expect to make a donation witch is ok if you want to is not a must. So is not very crowded so is ok for a getaway and a bit of history if you are around.
A haven of peace . Beautiful surroundings and a warm welcome.
Good worthwhile visit nice walk and good Pubs in Lichfield easy walking distance, this the King's Head oldest pub in Lichfield
Beautiful building and grounds. Will definitely visit again.
A truly awe-inspiring piece of architecture with an exquisite and atmospheric interior. During the time in which we visited, the organ was playing some intense music at a deafening volume - this is my only criticism but perhaps this is something some visitors like.
Lichfield cathedral. Small but beautiful architecture. Walk through it`s doors & immerse yourself in history. Unusually, it has 3 spires. Beautiful stained glass windows. Accessible to disabled. Sometimes able to hear the catherdral choir practicing. Regular services. gift shop.
Stunning and still free to get in although the do ask for a donation.
You have to check timings for internal visit but still a lovely place to walk arround
It was locked. I would of thought it would of been open so you can see inside
Absolutely stunning architectural masterpiece! Amazing to look at and there is so much to see inside as well. As soon as you walk in, it feels like travelling back in time.
An amazing cathedral and well worth a visit. Totally awe-inspiring. The Chapters Cafe next to the cathedral is great for coffee and cake after the visit. We ve been to the Cathedral Christmas Illuminations for the last two years, and they are fantastic!
Can not rate it enough.
Its worth more than 5 stars.
Not long visited for the space theme and it was great.
Thanks for the great show.
Another wonderful experience at the Cathedral. Very clever lighting supported by informative display plus some activities for young and old alike.
Stunning cathedral. Went over the Christmas period. Well worth a visit, and only a small fee to enter
Very beautiful place to sing at, would definitely come again
Sorry pressed the wrong star. It was amazing, looking forward to seeing the next one
First visit and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Will be coming back!
Historic site, well maintained and near centre shops and pubs.
