According to the Center for Puerto Rican Studies, by the year 2016 there were 5.5 million Puerto Ricans outside the island and it is estimated that in the next two years there will be about 470,000 to the massive population exodus from our homeland. With the purpose of connecting the diaspora with the culture and literature of the island, without forgetting the Puerto Ricans who remain in the country, the idea of creating Books 787 arose. By increasing the sales reach of independent authors and publishers in the yard, they take books beyond the windows of local bookstores. By bringing literature directly to households, they also contribute to the increase in the supply of books in Puerto Rico.
