An unbelievable library. A beautiful temple in honor of knowledge. You look and you don't believe in the beauty you see. It has one of four existing Bibles printed by Gutemberg.

So much more beautiful than I imagined. Plus a Gutenburg Bible!
I always envisioned that Paradise was a sort of library. I reached Paradise when I came here.
This is one of the most beautiful buildings I just in Washington DC but in all of North America. The artwork and sculptures and paintings are very moving and impressive. I could not finish talking about the artwork on the walls and ceilings and all throughout the building. This is a must-see location on your to-do list in Washington DC.
The Library of Congress is major politics and science.
Quite large and impressive building, which is also accessible from the Capitol through a tunnel (then you do not have to go through the security again - although these are much cooler than next door in the Capitol).
The architecture is impressive and in excellent condition. At a glance, this can not be grasped and offers interesting perspectives during the tour.
In terms of content, however, the whole thing offers little more than that. A small exhibition is over pretty quickly, the view into the reading room from above through the glass is very nice (again because of the building). Otherwise, you will not get anywhere without a passport - but it's still full.
Conclusion:
Worth seeing - but do not expect too much.
For everyone in Washington D.C. It is essential to visit the Capitol Library. It is impressive, majestic and without a doubt one of the best tourist visits. There is so much to see that it is impossible not to enjoy the visit. In addition you can find old manuscripts such as the first editions of the Gutenberg Printer.
Make time to come here if you visit D.C. The tours are great and informative, and there are very nice exhibits.
Awesome ambience.. Jefferson s books .. great place
Stunning building drenched in history. Free library card available to all visitors including those from overseas. The tours are free and very informative. Well worth a visit!
Be sure to take a look (there is a passage directly from the Capitol) it is an impressive building. A tour is not necessary.
You can not enter with food or solids or liquids. The space is amazing, there are some tours that include it and it is worth it. Admission is free and is usually not crowded. It is well located. If you are going to visit Washington, I really recommend it.
The nation's capital attracts tourists to the Washington monument, the Lincoln memorial, the Jefferson memorial, the Holocaust museum and recently the African American museum. All of those venues are rightly deserving of the attraction that they garner. However, visitors to Washington DC would be doing themselves a disservice if they did not stop and visit the Library of Congress. Conveniently located adjacent to the United States Supreme Court and across from the Capitol building, the Library of Congress is home to the largest collection of books from every conceivable subject that would require members of Congress to write, adopt, amend and address legislation. Upon his death the nation's third president, Thomas Jefferson, bequeathed his entire library from his estate at Monticello to the to the young republic. That donation formed the foundation of the books that now comprise the library of Congress.
You can get a stamp for your national parks passport book. (Not official though).
Staff was really nice. The building is really nice. Exhibits were interesting. Didn't try to get a readers card.
Amazing building. Got to see a tour of the library and items kept in special cases for safekeeping. It was awe-inspiring
Just wish I can stand in the center of the library grand hall.
Amazing architecture.
The tours guide had said that when the British burned the original library during the war of 1812 in an "unprovoked attacked", it is said they started burning the "oldest and most priceless books". Really??!! I almost burst out laughing. How absurd! I explained to my kids later that this was not an unprovoked attack, but rather retribution for their attack on York in Canada. Also, I don't think they were that particular about which books caught fire first. Regardless of the historical spin doctoring, it's still a site worth seeing.
Living near this, you can get a free reading card for any document.
Education is number one thing better start here before you try and start anything with me go read no computers or internet start there first
The most beautiful and perfect place...all the books in the world.
Amazing building to visit. Must check out when touring the mall.
I feel like I was born here for my Mother told me I came here so much before I was born when she would research. As soon as I was old enough to be quiet in a library she would take me there for research. My Mom was a research analyst and did all the research for their book on origami here.
Lovely architectural edifice. Beaming waves of knowledge contained in the numerous volumes of publications standing on the shelves in this royal library emanates from it's walls. A place to visit
One of the most spectacular libraries in the world, historical collections
This library is fascinating from floor to ceiling, from wall-to-wall, from window to window, from painting to painting, and from one of a kind architecture. This place is a treasure for the entire family and an absolute must see. To top it all off, everyone needs to visit the largest library in the world. Even though there are a ton of books here and periodicals to read while you sit in silence, the spectacular architecture that basically frameworks this entire building is beyond comprehension. Not only is this a library, it's an art gallery and a collection of American masterpieces inshrined on the walls. I'm kind of wondering if the Dewey Decimal system really works here. The people that work in the library are delightful and yes they all have library voices, that's amazing in itself!
The architecture and paintings were amazing. This is a must see on your trip to DC.
Probably our most-loved location on our trip to Washington DC. It's a really beautiful building and you can look into the actual library, where people are working or studying. You can check your coats and bags here, too.
Great place to visit for the researcher in your family. Archives and information that stretch back across our history available for your research.
Beautiful, you must see. The building is just amazing. Tour was very interesting.
Only conducted research there before but finally visited as tourist. Astounding architecture and largest collection of Alexander Hamilton's Federalist Paper.
Great experience to check out the Reading Room and Junior Reader's room. Beautiful building!
The Library of Congress is one of my favorite landmarks in DC. It's right next to the Supreme Court and the US Capitol and has the best fountain in DC out front (It's a mini Trevi fountain in Rome...VERY mini). Like all landmarks in DC, it's free to go inside and view the beautiful architecture and the famous Reading Room. What's also free (and only takes 5-10 minter total on a weekday) is to get a Library of Congress library card giving you access to the Reading Room. It's good for two years and for a lifetime of bragging rights.
This is probably the most beautiful of DC`s attractions inside and out. I cannot wait to come here the next time i come to DC i. I imagine that i will spend at least 5 hours here
We were here with a small group. Wonderful large hall and beautiful murals with direct access to the Capitol.
BEAUTIFUL and complex art within. EXCELLENT READING SPACE FOR KIDS TOO! On Fridays they have reading time where I like to take the little ones.
The largest library in the world, with the most extensive collection, a work of architectural art, totally free at the National Mall in Washington DC. Recommended
Beautiful library. Free visit, often there are very interesting exhibitions on the upper level
This place is free...
A place where men and women of all ages have to go...
We didn't use any of the library facilities. We were just regular tourists who wanted to see the inside of the building and the special exhibitions. And both did not disappoint. The building is magnificent and ornate, definitely an attraction in its own right. The special exhibition with old maps was really cool, as well as Jefferson's library housing the volumes of books that would become the LoC's first collection.
We were here for two hours. Admission is free, photos are allowed (just no flash), and there is the usual security check. Stop by the gift shop before leaving and grab a book or souvenir.
I love that the Library of Congress is located right next to our nation's capital and between House Office Buildings and the Senate Office Buildings. It used to be in the Capitol building! Knowledge, and our ability to gain it and preserve it, is our country's greatest asset.
Such a beautiful and historic building.. really enjoyed taking pictures here!
Wow very beautiful place. This is one of the biggest library in the world. Free entrance actually.
It is magnificent, beautiful, delicate and great. Please visit
A beautiful library! I was so awestruck on the tour. If you visit and want an experience beyond the tour...go to the lower levels and sign up for a reader s ID, and read something in one of their various reading rooms.
Great displays! The grandeur of the building, tile work, and stained glass windows are truly breathtaking. This is really a stunning building!
Not to mention that it offers an amazing view of the United States Capitol.
The biggest library of the world . More than 30 million books are being present . The first printed bible is being present.
One of the most beautiful places in DC. Be sure to take the tour and ask about getting a library card. Anyone can apply for one!
Great building & book collection, take a tour inside.
an incredible visual was sang. the architecture of the interior affects people
The most beautiful building in DC. In my opinion, the most beautiful in the US and probably the world.
Beautiful, beautiful place to visit. However, there is less to see without first applying for essentially a library card, and then its just a good place to read or study. As a visitor, you don't have access to many parts which makes it easy to breeze through the building very fast.
I don't have much time and can't join the tour. It would have been more interesting to hear the explanation properly. Join the tour ... If you go with the US Capitol, it's probably the Capitol.
Building has a beautiful fountain and during sunset, the gold on top sparkles. Did not get a chance to go inside.
Women's Suffragette display is very timely with Women's March tomorrow
Incredibly beautiful, I have never seen so much marble in my life. An unmissable visit if you go to Washington
Very cool things to see in this library. E.g. a Gutenberg Bible. Nevertheless it is the most crowded and noisy library I know The tours are OK but because of the noise in the building is the guide very hard to hear / understand.
Has a food court containing Subway and Dunkin Donuts. Excellent collection of historic photos; however, a researcher card is needed to see them. A must see room!
This is the most luxury and full of literature library that can be used to public! Nice decoration and painting on the wall and side. It's like a palace!
Beautiful building, and amazing genuine architecture. Maybe not so exciting for young ones to see, but teens and adults would find it exasperating!
What an amazing place. The architecture is breathtaking. Make this one of your backlist places to visit.
#travelformortals
I often visits here read my favorite book because i like to read different kind of book and this library fulfill all my need. The infrastructure was awesome and the reading halls were well maintained. So according to me this is the best library .
The Library of Congress is an absolutely immaculate building. I highly recommend taking a tour.
