Tea room food was fantastic, service okay. Beautiful place to enjoy outdoors with festive atmosphere.
Family tradition we come to see the Christmas lights every year
We went for the Christmas lights but I cannot wait to go back in the spring for the flowers.
Best gift shop.
It was really nice. Great place to take lots of pictures.
Beautiful grounds and countless educational opportunities. One can almost imagine being anywhere but Richmond.
Beautiful place to visit. Atmosphere for family, children, old, and young. Very Serene all kinds of plants and flowers around the world. Enjoy my visit.
Spring tulips are in bloom. Lewis Ginter never disappoints.
Haven't been in a few years, went back today with all the kiddos and had an absolutely wonderful time. Thankful for the staff that held conversation with a 5yo and thankful for the opportunity to go for free when money is tight
The lights were nice and they were social distancing.
Lovely location to spend a spring afternoon. Lots of early spring blooms, daffodils, cherry trees, orchids in the conservatory. Plenty of outdoor seating throughout the gardens to relax. There is currently limited admission, have to reserve tickets in advance. Masks required.
We went for the holiday light display and it was amazing. While it was night and we couldn't see the gardens, we were able to access a number of the buildings and really enjoyed the displays. Will definitely go back for a day visit.
We went for the lights because that's been a family tradition for years. We picked 12/03/20 because they were allowing DOGGO'S!! I honestly don't know which was better. The lights or the pups. The fact that they put them both together AND have the most amazing staff ever made this year's tradition the best it's ever been!
Beautiful gardens. The photo is from their holiday light display, but I recommend going any season. Always looks great, so well cared for.
The gardens were absolutely beautiful. The entire place was so clean and well taken care of. It is truly a magical place. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking. Worth every penny of the admissions ticket. We can only immagine the work that must go into keeping a place of that size in such emaculate condition. The ONLY reason I didnt give it 5 stars was the on site restaurant. The food was absolutely terrible. 2 salads( consisting of 3 wedges of iceberg lettuce and a few tomatoes and we added chicken)2 cups of soup 3 teas and 2 desserts $60. With tip lunch was over $70! That price wouldn't be so bad, But the food was horrible. Three cubes of grilled chicken on the salad were so tough you couldnt chew them. The flavor was good but it was tough and textured as though it was microwaved. They could also use more places throughout the property to get a drink. There was almost nowhere. Having said all that, I realize this is a garden and not a theme park or restaurant. I would go again and again and plan to. Next time, however, I will plan to eat outside the garden and bring water.
Always something beautiful to see and the butterflies are extra special.
Just went tonight to see the Holiday lightning with family. The garden is beautiful, and holiday lights were everywhere. Staff was helpful & informative. Glass Observatory is also very nice. There were also model trains there. The entry ticket is very reasonable priced.
Just a great place to take the one you care about!!
Went here for Winterfest festival of lights. On dog night at that. Had an incredible time
Beautiful gardens. The light display at Christmas is incredible!
The restaurant is not bad and there s a wonderful tree for kids to climb.
Being amongst so many colorful butterflies was exhilarating.
On a visit from Central Illinois to Richmond, my parents brought us to Lewis Ginter to see the holiday lights. What an amazing display! There was something amazing to look every direction you turned! The Christmas lights around the park were stunning. I wish it had been warmer out because I could have spent a lot more time walking around!
The parking lot was busy, but well organized. We purchased tickets online and the check-in process was very fast and easy. Everyone working the event was very nice and happy. It was busy but not overwhelmingly busy. Everything ran very smoothly.
My favorite part was looking at all of the orchids in the conservatory. I took so many pictures! They were gorgeous!
I can't speak for the outdoor gardens when they're in bloom, but I hope I get the chance to visit again and see all the gardens!
Beautiful gardens, fabulous butterflies, great customer service, fantastic gift shop!
We went for the holiday light display and it was amazing. While it was night and we couldn't see the gardens, we were able to access a number of the buildings and really enjoyed the displays. Will definitely go back for a day visit. I was visiting Richmond for business and wanted to be outdoors on a beautiful Spring day with the temperature in the seventies. I searched Trip Advisor and saw these gardens recommended. I'm so happy I went and will definitely visit again. I would love to see what it looks like in April as things are just getting ready to burst! I wanted some exercise and had plenty of space to walk for almost 2 hours.
Words can't express the absolute saturation of natural beauty that exists here. A great place for all ages.
It was very lovely, but there was not as much landscaped area as I would have expected for the price. We saw all the formal gardens in about 2.5 hours, including a stop at the Cafe. I'm sure you could spend half the day there, but you certainly don't need to.
Beautiful place with so many options for people of all ages.
It was a nice experience when we visited during the Christmas time. Full of lights every where. The garden was decorated with one million lights.
The family went to visit earlier this evening. The place looked spectacular. There was a good crowd and lots of folks were trying to get in.
Really great place to get away with the family. They really care about people, plants, and making a natural symbiotic paradise! Absolutely love this place!
Good place to hang out with family and kids. Nice collection of flora. May not be super big but very apt for the place. Kids can enjoy the place too. Nice botanical green house with wide variety of flora. Nice display stalls.
LOVE coming here for Festival of Lights by Dominion. Every year is something special and new, and my boys LOVE it!!! We also used to go see Santa, but I'm not sure if they're still hosting that as it was downgraded last year to the smaller restaurant. Tons of activities for littles ones to enjoy, a great chance to teach them about nature and taking care of plants! Beautiful gardens!!! Well worth the time and visit!
In town for the morning and desided to visit. The grounds are wonderful and very unique, the buildings pretty. There were very helpful people in the conservatory who were able to answer our questions and seemed to love discussing the plants and butterflies. We had lunch at the cafe and it wasn't over priced and tasted delicious. Wish we could have spent more time there!
There is a lot to explore at Ginter. The winding paths, little nooks with exciting discoveries, and seasonal changes are my invitation for a perfect time out.
This place is magical. We are a family of eight with six children ranging in age from two years old to 15 years old. Finding activities that everyone can enjoy is nearly impossible. This is one of the few places where the toddlers, the teenagers, the adults, and everyone in between are all happy. This place is magical. We are a family of eight with six children ranging in age from two years old to 15 years old. Finding activities that everyone can enjoy is nearly impossible. This is one of the few places where the toddlers, the teenagers, the adults, and everyone in between are all happy. Summer and spring are as gorgeous as you would expect. But one of the best times of the year to visit is winter. The festival of lights is absolutely enchanting. All of our children absolutely insist we year after year. It s one of their favorite holiday traditions. In the summertime they love playing in the sprinklers are just wandering around and getting lost in their thoughts. They often have activities set up for the children including sidewalk chalk, a book tree, hula hoops, and others. There are sandboxes and a great climbing tree. Don t forget to look out for beautiful birds, turtles, fish, Etc. We recommend the family membership if you are planning to visit more than once. Oh! And don t forget the butterfly house. My kids could spend all day in their as could I.
What a wonderful day today to see the million one blooms . Weather was a little chilly but the kids and I really enjoyed seeing the tree house, drawing with chalk, seeing the butterfly garden and the beautiful flowers. Definitely enjoyed our spring break today.
Went there with my family. My 3 years old daughter really enjoyed looking at all the butterflies. I was amazed to so many different kinds of butterflies in such a small space.
It's a great place the green house is great. I went during the light event and it was a good time. Lots of area to explore
The lights at Christmas time were amazing. Well worth the price and more.
Beautiful place went with my kids to see the butterflies we all had a blast especially the children's garden I didn't know they had a water sprinklers for the kids they went in with their clothes was a huge hit! The place is pricy as well as the food I next time I would pack a picnic
Been twice now and have not been disappointed. Really enjoyed the scenery and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. Be mindful that this place is expensive and the gift shop will hurt your feelings with their prices if you aren t prepared. Worth the money though, very enjoyable.
Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to experience the holiday lights. Wonderful.
Wonderful place to visit. Beautiful garden and delicious food.
One of my favorite places in Richmond, great social distancing practices!
Lovely, diverse gardens and conservatory. This is often rated in the top 12 or 15 gardens in the country and I agree. Especially loved all the hardscape and large carnivorous pitcher plant displa on the lake's island.
We used our Missouri Botanical Garden membership reciprical garden pass, good for over 300 gardens nationwide.
This place is absolutely gorgeous! Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is the place I will always want to go for a nice walk on a beautiful day, so many things to see and so many paths to explore.Everything is very kept kept and the employees that I had interactions with were all kind and courteous. The latest exhibits running until September are the really cool LEGO sculptures
Wonderful place, beautiful flowers, friendly staff, fantastic library, and just a tranquil place to spend a few hours!!
Beautiful gardens with a variety of flowers. The gift shop is top notch with a unique selection of merchandise.
This was nice to visit but the state of some of the plants and trees are a little sad. Some plants do need pruning to stay healthy and it looked like that didn't happen this time around.
Such a beautiful place with gorgeous gardens. Lots of walking. Kid-friendly.
Beautiful, inexpensive, breathe taking. And there's good Pokemon too. Most see.
A Magical Night
We went to the Lewis Ginter Garden during the Holiday Light Festival and we were blown away. The garden is small so walking is no problem. The profusion of lights turn a nice garden to a magical wonderland. Spectacular displays. We also had dinner at the Teahouse, which was delicious, reasonable and you can't be the view. We lived here..
What a beautiful Garden! Beautiful place to visit! Recommend to anyone visiting VA
Beautiful place to visit, I used to do volunteer with my school, and it was worth the experience. Great gardens and it s so fun!
Great place to take the family or that special person. They have several spotlight events that are cried pleasers. The Garden Festival of Lights, The Butterfly Exhibit are two of my favorites. In the spring when all the flowers blossom is amazing.
Been today and because of the rainy weather very quiet. This allows you to take fantastic pictures. The butterfly garden is great. Staff are very friendly and happy to chat. The gardens are full of a variety of trees, shrubs and perennials. It is wonderful to see that so much blooms in September. Everything is taken care of down to the last detail. After all, had a wonderful day for not much money. Thanks!
Beautiful variety of flowers and plants, just a peaceful place to stroll around and take it all in.
The whole family attended the Garden Fest of Lights. Even though is was dark, it is evident there has been steady and numerous improvement to the grounds & facilities over the years. Nicely paved walkways, a beautiful, curving bridge, and an updated children's area are a few of the major updated that. I observed. Parking and admittance is easy, especially has we followed the required Covid protocols. The lights were simply beautiful. From the moment you entered the gardens your mind is impressed with the visual influx of brilliantly lit colors against a black backdrop. Everywhere you turn is a scenery of tens of thousands colored Christmas lights. From wrapped trees w sprawling branches and sidewalks bounded by illuminated creatures and mirrored reflections doubling themselves off the water's surface, the variety and number of lights were both impressive and entertaining. Our two year old grandson absolutely loved identifying the light-covered critters, studying the trains as they whistled & chugged along, and entangling himself in the peacock's tail. Great for the family, esp on a cold, wintry night
Loved it, I've came for years to the Butterfly exhibit and my first for the Xmas lights, awesome!
Outstanding staff and again the gardens are beautifully decorated for the season
Great winter interest in the garden and the lights at night are wonderful.
I went there for the Garden Fest of Lights and it is amazing. The lights are well done, staff is friendly. It was a perfect way to spend a Saturday night. Only thing was parking was a bit confusing but we quickly figured it out.
Beautiful Beautiful park, and it is super well maintained. The perfect full family destination, as they even have things to get young kids engaged! A great resource here in our own RVA!
It was absolutely beautiful and there is so much to see
Excellent place to spend a day with the family. Lots of cool seating and great mixture of exotic and local plants. The butterfly exhibit was very nice. Support this local business.
Recently sprung for the membership here as I ve found myself going quite a few times during the year. This garden is beautiful, diverse, absolutely uplifting & peaceful to check out for your first time or going simply for a change of scenery.
The Lewis Ginter Botanical garden is educational beyond expectations. Almost every single tree, flower, and beyond has a name and they ve taken care to provide them all with their proper names.
Highly recommend stopping by for their orchids, the Japanese tea house, gift shop, or simply fresh air and beautiful scenery. The membership and all events are listed with ease of finding through the website! Great for all ages
Gorgeous any month of the year and most importantly, year round interest. I went in January and still found new things in bloom and winter interest. Also more kid-friendly and interactive than I would think. Hit the kids area in the back, build a gnome home, and watch your kids playing like we did as kids in the woods while you enjoy the tranquility of the flowers and the calm (obviously I have young children).
Attended the Spring Plantfest Plant Sale. Happy with the selection of vendors and what they brought. Love my new plants!
Absolutely stunning. Will definitely make this a yearly tradition. Not only were the lights beautiful, but our dinner was amazing and our server was a true delight. I think you did a great job with social distancing, creating one way traffic and ensuring everyone wore masks. Every single detail was perfect and the entire event was perfect. Thank you for a spectacular evening
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden currently features artist Box, whose origami stainless steel sculptures are "out the box". Butterflies Alive! is now open. Visit the conservatory to witness it's beauty and then explore 50 acres of immaculately manicured grounds, the botanical library, cafe, restaurant, and gift shop. Let the kids swing from an ancient tree, build homes for creatures with logs, dig in the sand, climb or stroll up to the wheel-friendly observation tower, play in the mini house, splash in the little water park (summer). No wonder this garden is ranked as one of the best in the country!
The roses are in bloom! Take a relaxing (socially distanced) walk and forget about the madness.
We did the Dominion Christmas lights here and had an awesome time!! Amazing displays and helpful staff.
It's a wonderful and magical experience every time!!
Amazing Christmas lights!!! Highly recommend for a family trip, friend reunion, or date idea. If you live out of the area and want to make a day out of your trip to Richmond, there's a lovely shopping center called Short Pump 20 min away too.
