Leslie Hindman staff disregarded 3 requests to see...

Leslie Hindman staff disregarded 3 requests to see the artist's signature (verso) on an oil painting featured at one of their public auctions. They did respond to my initial emailed request, but only sent additional photos of the FRONT of the artwork (the artist's signature is on the BACK and I had specifically asked to see the back side of the painting to confirm its authenticity prior to bidding.) Follow-up messages by me as the auction start neared were ignored, and I never was able to see the artist's signature. To add insult to injury, when I threw caution to the wind and did submit an internet bid (through the Leslie Hindman website platform), my bid was not accepted and the painting was sold to a floor bidder. I expected better from this auction house. As the saying goes, "Fool me once ..."

Caution.......this over-inflated ego-driven owner picks and chooses, based on the individual.......passive only, please, and if she does not like and/or choose to auction your items, she refers you to Direct Auction in Chicago, a business about as corrupt as they come but obviously she cares not!

She's a greedy, manipulative, egotistical individual with a sociopathic tendency towards lying. She only likes people she can make money off of. I should know, I was her controller for two years and let go because her insurance rates where going to go up because I had a heart attack. You can't make up bad drama like this. She is one of the worst people I've met in my life, and I've met a few....!!

This auction house has been an absolutely terrible experience. If you value your items, I would suggest looking for another auction to assist you. Their staff is friendly to begin with, and then it will be your job to chase them down for information or follow up. They do not return emails or phone calls. When I finally made a complaint regarding their lack of customer service, I was told "If you are not happy with the service you received, you are welcome to work with another company". The additional issues we had to deal with: They lost an accompanying item consigned with my designer handbag, they misrepresented a piece of Asian art that we consigned by describing it incorrectly, then they did not sell the piece although it had no reserve and a live bid to purchase, and they gave me two different estimates for a piece of fine jewelry, thousands of dollars apart. Also, I had one of their 'experts' come to my home to evaluate my fine jewelry for last year's December auction. The person lost her notes and had to come back to my home a second time. After waiting months for the estimates, I was finally told I could consign them in 2020, it was too late for the December auction. The staff at this auction is unprofessional and does not seem to care whatsoever if they retain your business. An extremely disappointing group of people to deal with.

Don't miss these auctions, prices are amazing and everything is guaranteed to be what it is. For furniture and artwork the deals are great. I suggest to go to the previews that are right before the auction. Don't forget there is also a 26% buyer's commission on whatever bid you place plus 10.25% tax.

I really have mixed emotions about this auction house.. It caters to the wealthy and luxurious items only.. It will not consign any items unless it has strong auction history, even if it's a one of a kind item..

I have had a horrible experience with them. Please take time to read their YELP reviews. They never returned my emails about an item I purchased and never received. I finally had to fill out a dispute with my credit card company and have the amount reversed. NOW, they filed a dispute with me on your site. How can they file a dispute they know the item was never shipped and it is still in the possession of UPS Store. The UPS Store has tried to give the item back to Hindman but they will not accept. All they have to do is get the item back from UPS and they will be whole.

I do not want to do business with them again. I filed a claim with my credit card due to the fact they failed to get my auction item shipped. They know it was never shipped and therefore I do not owe them any money.

A company with your reputation shouldn't do business with a company who has had so many issues in the past with customers.
