Beautiful castle and grounds to visit during summer and spring. Carry a umbrella when you visit. Parking is free. The day pass can be converted to season pass for free at the reception. The ground have beautiful gardens and couple of lakes. The castle has a moat and looks medieval. Accessibility for people with special needs is excellent but first floor didn't have a lift. The staff are helpful and curtious. The castle is a long walk from the gate. But there is a mini train which transports people to the castle for a nominal fee. There are few attractions firvtge kids and a souvinier shop.

A history of outrageous privelige & an epitome of who you know to get on maybe but an almost perfect venue to see a band, take a Sunday picnic or take a walk & talk with a new girlfriend. Don't buy anything as the prices in any of the cafes are, by a long measure extortionate ! !

We visited today on a school trip with my daughter and her classmates - it is a great day out, with a castle tour to start with and then a brilliant educational 'play' with the kids after lunch....
Highly recommended!

Visited this superb attraction yesterday. Despite it being the school holidays albeit right at the beginning the road train from the car park to the castle was not running due to maintenance. Why wasn't this maintenance done last week. It is a long way for a young children to walk (and for the older ones too). We had brought a picnic but decided to leave it in the car so therefore 2 of us had to walk back to the car to collect it. This meant that I personally had to do the journey 4 times in 29 degrees of heat.
However the weather was wonderful and the venue attractive and interesting even if a little pricey.

Lovely castle to visit. There was a lot of interesting history behind the castle, and there was a lot to see and do. The birds that live on the grounds were great fun to watch, and the hedge maze wasn't too difficult, but still a good time. There was a flower festival when we went and the whole castle was done up with flower arrangements and it was absolutely stunning.

This is amazing day out there is so much to do for both adults and children. The grounds are beautiful amd the inside of the castle is amazing. The only reason it wasn't 5 star is because it's massively expensive so I'd advice anyone who wants to go for the day to bring a packed lunch.

Absolutely loved it! We purchased a freedom pass which last for a year and a day from purchase date. It gives you free access to boat and mini train for the duration of your ticket. We also saw a falconry display and my son loved the large small kids play area.
Great for a day out.

Enjoyable. Kids liked the new play area. Didn t like the expensive, limited menu. Castle is nice but I ve seen better. Doesn t quite match the hype. Other, more modest castles are superior and more reasonably priced. Would recommend to a friend, but I doubt I ll be back.

This is a beautiful place, has falconry, inside impressive but could do with better commentary. Wished I taken the audio set to listen to as I walked around inside castle. You can but Bird feed for the birds. Good photo opportunities. Food good in one of the restaurants we had eaten in. Wished I had been able to spend longer enjoying the birds of prey. If you can't duck like me be prepared to be buzzed by them, claws combed my hair, on fly by overhead. :)

Lovely day out, with stunning views. Lots of walking but not too hilly and a good path all the way round. We went just after lockdown so the castle was closed and the restaurant restricted. No bird shows either. Saying that we had a picnic with a gorgeous view of the lake, and an ice cream and cold drinks over near the crazy golf. Crazy golf was also lots of fun a really new looking course.

What a magical place!

What a magical place!
The main entrance was covered due to being on restoration but there was still so much beauty and history in every room and gardens! A wonderful experience.

A really fun day out in the sunshine! lots of walking though so if you have many small children or are disabled it might be difficult with the steps and hills. But they do run a castle train to make it easier to get around this! I believe More

Wow!!! What more can I say... The castle is splendid and set in the most glorious grounds which took my breath away. Good for all ages. Super falconry display, get lost in the maze and explore the grotto. Just a lovely place to enjoy a great day out, especially if you are blessed with good weather.

Great day out for the family. If you have young children, there is so much to do. Train ride from the car park to the castle, boat ride across the lake, huge maze, 2 playgrounds, mini golf, falconry... And that's all in addition to the impressive castle!

We went on the bank holiday Monday, obviously there was quite a few people there but we still had a very good day wondering around the grounds, going into all the attractions which there are loads. The wildlife that is there is numerous especially the ducks and the swans of all different breeds. There was a little tented encampment where the children could do colouring in, playing musical instruments, making bracelets and all manner of things. No I mustn't forget the maze you must try that. And, to top it off the tickets you buy on that day last the whole year so you can go again whenever you want to for that year. I must not forget the castle itself, full of History and learning.

A truly English castle, one of the most beautiful. Spend the day exploring g history and gardens, watching bird of prey flying g displays and feed the birds. The only place I have been able.to feed the black swans! Come for a day, come back all year! Make sure there is.plenty of space on your camera card, lots of photos to take!
