Boot camp for Jesus. I learned to get up early, work, study, focus, pray, do laundry and grab the sack lunch as it tasted better then the hot plate.

Astounding food selection. Great spot for a casual dinner date.
Sent off our missionary, park, hug, picture and on his way with a host to guide him! Less than 10min for dropoff.
It has always been a great place but now with the new buildings it's better than ever.
I couldn't get out of there soon enough, but I loved my time there.
It is amazing the work that goes on at the MTC. I have dropped off 2 kids so far and have a definite fondness for the place and the message they share to the world.
This place is awesome. I love it. I was their for 2months to prepare for my mission in Orlando Florida Mission.
This place is full of shame and male ego. It took several years of therapy to overcome the damage it did to me.
In short: good place.
In long: I don't blame the place for any bad experiences I had there. Sure, you might get a bad roommate/companion, you might get diarrhea from eating the stroganoff, and you might have bad teachers. But in spite of those little tidbits, this place fulfilled on its purpose: I learned Spanish, bettered my understanding of LDS doctrine, and left feeling ready to take on the world as a missionary.
Quick question: why are there reviews on this place? If you sign up for a mission, it's not like you have the "Opt out of the MTC" choice on the papers. And if you are going on a mission, I think the reward is worth any price.
You get a feeling safeness and security in your heart.
The food was awesome and in great supply. You never have to worry about what you are doing in a day as it is all planned out for you. The staff are really nice and so are almost all of the people that you meet there. Great place to be.
This is the place that changes lives. Thousands of lives are affected by causes that can be traced back to this very place. This place has caused missionaries to change my life, for the better. I was in a huge rough patch, and the missionaries got me to go to church and stay faithful. Elder Bingham and Elder Dryden are the best missionary pair I've ever experienced a good time with, and they're absolutely awesome people. I hope to come here one day, to train for a mission, and to pass on the good deeds and life changing actions that is missionary work. Thank you, LDS, for changing my life forever.
The mtc was great! I'm very great full I was able to go! Get super excited if you are going soon, it is going to be so much fun!!! It was the best month of my life!
I loved my experience here and I love going there still to participate in TRCs and helping new missionaries practice their languages!
I never went on a mission, but both my son's did and they both matured dramatically in the 6 weeks they were there preparing for their missions.
Requires a two year commitment for a 2-6 week stay but when you get in it has good food
The MTC is a unique spot in Utah, unlike any other. Located close to BYU, it is a spot dedicated to training missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A lot of effort and expense is put into this place. Parking is really a non-issue. Egress is set up to be easy when it matters
Great place to learn. Great place to work. Great place to feel the spirit.
I really enjoyed my experience at the MTC in 1990 before heading to Holland on a mission. It was lots of hard work but great memories.
My MTC experience was amazing! The District I was assigned to and the teachers we received were an absolute blessing. The relationships that I made and the lessons that I learned will definitely help me for the rest of my life. I am so thankful for my MTC experience. I grew closer to Christ here in 3 weeks more than I did my first 18 years of life. I will always cherish my time here.
Btw, I was in the MTC about 15 months ago so the pictures are a little dated.
Wonderful place spiritually, and the best language academy in the world.
I was in the MTC 34 years ago this coming December, I have not gone through a month since then but what I can still remember the feelings I had while there. There are few places that I have felt so close to my Father in Heaven. I am taking my Daughter up to the MTC tomorrow for her mission, the spirit and feelings that she will be able to experiance will help her throughout her whole life. The MTC has a feeling quite close to the temple if you are prepaired to be there. I feel sorry for the man who posted an experiance that I (never) felt when I was there. I feel sorry for him if in fact he ever went there, I had nothing but wonderful memories that have guided me through my life and helped me raise four wonderful children.
Beatiful, powerful place. Food could use improvement.
It gets stressful after the first days, but now that I look back at my moments of getting stressed, it was the best moment in my life. I will never trade my experience here for anything. I recommend reading and getting to know Preach My Gospel chapter 3 before going there.
Well, I gained about 15 pounds in 3 weeks. #RoundAndHappy
The MTC is a wonderful training center for missionaries, it is not open for tours or for outside visits because it s purpose is to train missionaries not entertain the public. Most teachers come from a nearby BYU campus and are all enthusiastic about teaching. There is lots of food and lots to do, you are always busy doing something.
Tough place... It might have been different for me because I was here during the boom after the age change so the mtc was only about 12 days. Very vigorous schedule, lots of class time, not a lot of time to stretch out. I liked the mission field a lot more (not fond of sitting at a desk). I think the secret to the MTC is to have appropriate fun. My district felt like since the MTC was dedicated ground they needed to behave as though they were in the temple, I think they missed the part where temples are consecrated. Anyway, overall it was a good experience and I learned a lot about myself. Capabilities, how I function under stress, and that everything works out for those who love God. Wouldn't trade my decision to come here for anything.
Great place to leave your missionaries for additional training before they go teach others about Christ!
Drove right to the MTC for two weeks of Military Relations Missionary training.
Was there in 1998 for 3 months preparing for the Italy Catania mission. World class language training though you do get a bit anxious after 3 months. I stayed and extra month because my visa was delayed
My only complaint is that it snowed the entire time I was there. Other than that it was a pretty enjoyable experience and the food was pretty good
I had such a fun time here! I loved the teachers, they were incredible and getting the Gospel of Jesus Christ taught simply to us. We enjoyed our time together, and get to have all sorts learning and teaching experiences!
Both as a missionary and as an employee, I love the missionary training center. As a missionary it was an adjustment for sure, but I'm so grateful for the person that I have become. The teachers are incredible and put so much time and effort into helping the missionaries be successful.
As an employee here now, I love the MTC still! It's the best job a college student can get. I only have great things to say about how incredible this wonderful campus is. The new buildings are beautiful and everything about them are built for the success of these missionaries.
Definitely the weirdest study abroad out there. I signed up online and got accepted, it was only $400 a month so I said why not. Totally not what I expected - not sure why the dress code was so strict, even once we got to the country. Besides the first two months, only had class twice a week, once on Tuesday and another on Sunday. So that was cool. Didn t really get to see any of the sites though, spent most of the time reading or walking around neighborhoods. My buddies from the program usually had some friends that would feed us to cut down on food costs. Met some cute girls there but people seemed pretty hostile about going on dates, so I didn t even try. Idk would I go again? Probably not, but we did play a lot of soccer. Anyway I hope this helps
It's freaking awesome - and it doesn't break or hinder people's rights. People agree to live by the standards when they decided to come here, so they mess up their "own" rights.
Go Cougs!
This place was dope! I love the Spirit there, you will see a couple reviews here of RMs who went dark on here... those fools went on their missions for themselves, not others, not for Christ. If you go for the right reasons and work hard, your mission will be the best thing you have ever done. If you don't, well... you will always have problems. Just go and try your best. You don't need to be a perfect missionary, you just need to be your best self, and try harder every morning you wake up. Your mission will be slow the first 2-4 months... but it just flies by after. Hold on our there! It gets better.
The drop off process was well organized and planned. Much better than we expected. :-)
The holy spirit is so strong in this place. Had an amazing spiritual experience here preparing to serve in the vancouver canada mission which was the best experience of my life. The food is good, the teachers and classes are amazing. It is heaven on earth
Best experience of my life was at this place! Was there for 1 month preparing to go to the Idaho Boise mission from 2010-2012.
One of the best experiences of my life. Awesome, Amazing place.
A place for missionaries to train before they go out into the field.
Great staff who Love and support you. The people you surround yourself with makes all the difference.
I really enjoyed the time I spent here. The food was really good (cafeteria style), the gym equipmenf was well maintained and the instructors were top notch! A good place to be.
It was enlightening, visionary, hopeful, and reassuring to meet with others who were headed to a wide variety of mission experiences.
Great place to be to learn about missionary training. Can't wait to go into one of these myself to be a missionary.
I've had 2 children go through here to prepare for missions in Japan.
Place was dope. Food was both good and abundant (that's a win-win if you ask me). Appreciated and so grateful for all the time and effort that many people put into this place. Just a group of people all trying to do good things. Loved my experience here.
Ps - the Orange Juice didn't faze me. Lol
So I served my mission in Japan a number of years ago and I know that my group was at the MTC longer than anybody. We were their for 11-12 weeks. That is a long time. Don't get me wrong, the experiences we had and lessons we learned were amazing. But when that day finally came and we hoped onto that bus and head to that airport we were rejoicing. "Goodbye MTC, Goodbye" Ah sweet memories.
The people were awesome and the food was great. I gained too much weight at that place. I have found out since the mission that they do indeed add fiber to the orange juice. We all joked about it and assumed but let me assure you that they do! Or atleast used to. Can't say for sure whether they stopped or not.
For anyone getting ready to go on their missions and are nervous about the MTC, don't worry and just embrace the experience and enjoy it.
I was in the Missionary Training Center (MTC), about 2 years ago and I loved it it really helped me to learn more and to more fully understand the doctrine of the church and strengthen my testimony. At times it may seem kinda like a jail or a trap, but it's worth it. Hopefully Corona virus goes away and missionaries in the future can experience the MTC in person!
My stay at the MTC was one that set me on a journey that truly changed my life. I highly recommend the long term stay.
I am a returned missionary (2004-2006), who spent three months here, and I can say that this was, bar none, the worst experience of my life. The teachers are arrogant, egotistical bullies whose job it is to feed innocent teenagers with spiritually-coated fear and guilt. Nineteen year old kids come here to be indoctrinated and spoon fed perpetual ignorance and wishful thinking. Entire meetings are constructed to be emotional weapons that remind these pre-missionaries that they are worthless and full of sin. So many of my companions ended up going home after being pressured into feeling disproportionately terrible for their benign mistakes; like a makeout gone too far, or having stumbled upon a smutty magazine. And stories of suicide are not uncommon.
At best, this is an institution that spreads the teaching of religious intolerance, homophobia and complete obedience to the leaders, while doing little to nothing for the purported benefit of society. I hope some day there is a secular investigation of what goes on inside the walls of the Missionary Training Center, because like the documentary "Jesus Camp", viewers from outside the bubble will gasp in horror, and protest this atrocity so cleverly disguised as "service".
Even though I was ready to leave, the MTC prepared me to go serve a mission, and the food isn't nearly as bad as people tell you.
One of the best places you will feel the spirit. Jesus absolutely walks those halls and guides the missionaries who are learning to teach the gospel to others. I loved it there.. 1991.
Loved my time there! It was a wonderful learning experience for me as a missionary!
I'll be completely honest. I wanted to leave this place the moment I got here. I already knew Spanish, I already knew the scriptures, and BYU was just as spiritual with the added bonus of cute girls you can date. Some people rave about MTC food but the Canon Center at Helaman Halls is much better (and not even that spectacular). Usually missionaries are allowed to go to the temple across the street but it was closed when I was there. You should still serve a mission, just try not to spend too much time here (unless you like it, who knows).
The Prove Missionary Training Center was a great experience for this Senior missionary. Food was great and the kitchen was very able to adapt to different food needs, even vegan! Classes were great. Place was set up like a university. My fav place to hang out after class was the well appointed exercise room. Lots of nice equipment and enough space I could practice tai chi and Chinese four square danced. The MTC is not open to the public. It caters to missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The art work was amazing!
I have enjoyed the MTC, I stayed for two and a half weeks. The showers were good, I recommend wearing shower shoes/slides I have heard of people getting athletes foot. The beds were alright, a little old. I have heard the sister Missionaries say that their beds are much more comfortable. The air-conditioning was great. Great shows and talks weekly. The teachers were all friendly and nice. The new buildings are beautiful, great for studying and learning. The spirit their is very overwhelming, I have made many memorable experiences their. As well as some great friends.
Recently toured the newer portions of the MTC. It's very impressive and the resources missionaries have today are far greater than that of even just a few years ago. Very neat!
Great Spirit, great food. I was gluten free and they accommodated extremely well to my diet! Very clean, well staffed. Loved my stay there in 2014
Waste of time unless you have the missionary with you. They wouldn't even let us in the gate.
The address on the website is 2005 900 East. This should be changed to 2005 N 900 E.
I've been here as an English speaking missionary, and they prepared me well for my mission. I've also come back and worked as a programmer. The work environment is very unique in the fact that religion is a key factor. Everyone is friendly and kind and go out of their ways to help you accomplish what you need to accomplish.
I was here as a missionary and also later as an employee. It has a great atmosphere where you have tons of opportunities to learn and grow, whatever your responsibility is. I've definitely had a positive experience.
One of the most beautiful campuses I have seen. It is normally closed to the public, but you can sign up online for a tour on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Best experience of my life. The spirit is so strong there. I miss that place. And an incredible facility, the new buildings are state of the art.
Amazing place that help you literally understand how dreams can come true.
A lot of good people trying to do good things here. Such a special place.
Here are the place that the army of the Lord Jesus Christ learn and grow to help our brother and siste.
I can tell why some people might be afraid to go on a mission or go to the M.T.C. But I can tell you that as a boy that was baptized at 14 years old and to be the first to surve a mission in my family in 75 years, it was amazing to be able to put that tag on and to tell the world my conversion story and how I, an unbeliever, came closer to my lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
3 Nephi 5: 13. Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
Spoons and forks can be found in the ceilings, garden beds, window frames and occasionally in your pocket. The spirit is unbelievable here. Learning Japanese is like drinking 5 Gallons of water in 10 seconds. All in all the place is lit.
It's difficult and unclear on how to get a letter to a missionary. You can take the letter with the missionaries name to the gate and they will ask you to leave. ):
