Lazy J Bar O Outfitters Review

The lady was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Wouldn't unlock the door for one of our employees even when she knew who he was from when we checked in. Then our schedule changed we pre paid for 5 nights and only stayed for 2. She wouldn't even give us a partial refund.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
Would be a better place if they had different help that knew what customer service was.
I think the positive reviews were written by the owner.

It was great to see where they filmed the movie, "The Horse Whisperer." The kind lady that runs the place was nice enough to let me see the room that was in the film. The town is super cute and cozy and it was worth the stop

Stayed here for a extended time while buying a house, prices are a little high but the rooms are clean and they don't charge extra to do laundry

Nice retro place. Staff is awesome. Must check out Natural Bridge if you stay this close to it.

Cary, the owner of the Lazy J Motel is very rude and unprofessional. We had paid for 2 nights stay in 2 of her large rooms, had to leave early so didn't stay the 2nd night. She refused to refund us our money and even threatened to call the Sheriff and file harassment charges if I called them again.
I had heard that she was a "piece of work" from local people in Big Timber, but didn't experience it until this morning. She screamed at me on the phone, and acted like quite a fool. I did phone the local police dept and told him of my conversation with Cary and what she said to me. I will not be treated like that and threatened by some strange person who happens to own a motel. The officer did not seem surprised to hear of how she acted.
Review of the rooms are... ceiling tiles loose & hanging in spots, dirty. Bed mattress had a large brown stain running along the edge.... bathrooms dirty and old.... refrigerators propped up with phone books to level them out. Real tacky and needs many updates and maybe a new proprietor!

Nice motel...nothin too fancy...summer rates run you 85 bucks...

Two words - bed bugs. It's not even officially a hotel because it can't pass safety inspections - it's a "campground" officially. They've had 2... TWO fires in the past 3 years and it definitely smells like it.

This was just what I was looking for on my drive through. Rested well in a clean and quiet room. Great value.

I was sent here from another nearby hotel that was full, and it was a nude surprise. The rooms are dated, but everything works well and there is a lot of character. The new management has put a lot of effort into restoring this once neglected place. They plan to do more, and I look forward to seeing it when I come back to the area. It was very clean and the manager was pleasant and attentive.

When I first stopped in I asked if they had hi speed internet & if it was fast. I was assured it was. After I got checked in I find it is very marginal if any at all. I want back to the office & talked with them. They admitted to having trouble with the router not workeing at times. They misled me on their internet. The air conditioner would stop at times. It did keep the room about 78-80. It was around 92 outside.
The room is old & so is most of the furniture. The good is it had a refrigerator & microwave.
Would I stay again? Maybe if the air & tnternet worked.

Romms in good condition. Peaceful enviroment. Owners are great people.
They helped me out in a jam much appreciative of that.
I will return!

We were driving from Wisconsin to oregon and desperately needed to stop to rest thankfully lazy js was open and had a room for us they were very helpful and accommodating the room was clean and staff was friendly my only complaint would be the price we paid for the tiny little room almost didn't seem worth the 70ish bucks we paid

Where do i begin. Lets see. So we booked a room. I belive number two. We go in and the pipe under the sink had exploded and was flooding the room. So much for that. They then sent us over a room. Room 3. This one was not flooded, the bathroom wasnt that much better though. There were sharp nail sticking out and the sink sucks. The water pressure is weak, and the faucet it too close to the sink to even wash your hands. Also the toilet is way too small and barely flushes. The tv also didnt work or has no reception, the tv had no channels. Also there is no wifi there. I noticed that the ceiling was all warped and miscolored. As if a water pipe previously broke there. So needless to say this place was sketch af, but the beds are actually really comfy, which i the only reason why i gave this place any stars at all. This hotel was featured in a movie once,"the horse whisperer" but its too bad this place isn't any better than the movie was.

New ownership got me in and found a place to plug my R V in to charge battery , clean and warm room friendly people

Room was clean and tidy. Didn't smell bad. Bath tub is big enough for a nice bath.

The staff is fantastic!! Very nice and accommodating. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the shower was hot! We will definitely be back on future trip!!

I was making a cross country trip and found this place a bit off the beaten path late at night. A good looking woman who turned out to be the Innkeeper opened the lobby door late at night and set me up with a room albeit a wee bit pricey. But... the room was very nice and clean, warm, had a very comfortable bed. Best of all, it smelled very very good! I was able to plug in my diesel pickup truck at an outlet just outside my room as it was an extremely cold night, 12 degrees I believe. A nice hot shower in the AM and I was gone!

Staff was super nice! Clean rooms with a great sitting area infront of each room. This motel was in the movie the horse whisper and the lady gladly showed me the room. Great prices, will be back!

Clean and comfortable. Hosts very pleasant and accommodating. We had our little dog so got a pet friendly room. Was disappointed that previous guests had not picked up after their dogs. It is getting more difficult all the time finding a place to stay with a pet. This is why. People be more respisible!!!

Older motel from 60s era. Big rooms. Place to walk dogs. Rooms appeared clean. A bit pricey for being an older motel.

Very nice out of the way place. Very clean. Rustic. Want to come back. They are in the process of remodeling.

I loved this place very very much the service was awesome and the maids were also amazing. Will definitely stay here again.

Nice folks in the office, rooms are clean and quiet.

Outdated, dirty and in dire need of upgrades (owner takes profit with him to Mesquite, Nv. in the winter).
Rates were 40% more than what you were receiving.
Yellow and red shag carpet from the 60's. Std CRT tv's (not digital flat-screen). No coffee pots or Kleenix. No shade on the bathroom window (great if you a voyeur).
Old springy mattresses. Dark wall paneling. Incandescent lighting (what there was).
Beds were too large for the room (about 18 inch space to trip over to get to the bathroom). Inside walls were NOT insulated and you could hear ALL from other rooms.
Sharp screws sticking out of the floor in the bathroom.
If you like to stand in your own shower water this one was for you. It had been added to numerous times and there was dirty caulking .

Newly remodeled, extremely clean, comfortable and best price in town. They took us in at 1am no problem.

This motel is clean and quiet and comes with a very nice price. We travel a lot and when we are in Big Timber, this will be our lodging choice. They do not serve breakfast if that is important to you.

Lazy boy in the room was really old, dirty, and downtown dangerous. I had to lay towels over it just to sit on it. Staff was nice. Bathroom was clean. Bed was too high. TV also too small.

This motel is a hidden gem, very clean, due to the pandemic I always go into the rooms before I bring my things in to wipe down things, well all my bleach wipes remained white, it was Meticulous!!!, owners were grea

What a great place to stay. Owners Clay and Carrie were awesome. The rooms were nice, clean, the prices are quite affordable, and are pet friendly. In our opinion, this is the best place to stay in Big, Timber.

Awesome place awesome staff, so relaxing! All I can say is "Thanks, I needed that!"

We stayed for the weekend. .very quiet and peaceful great price had a great time eating at thirsty turtle and had pizza at the local pizza place. Breakfast buffet at the Grand hotel on Sunday before we left to go home. Great weekend. Great Host at the flying J.

Clean though the place is really dated. Needed a place just for the night at a place that is dog friendly while we drove across the country. The lady here was really friendly and nice. The heating was great on a cold night.
