Incredible place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Awesome adult, teen and kids literature and spaces. My wife and I were passing thru while on our way home to Colorado- now we don t want to leave! We will be returning.
Great, local, public library in a very close-knit community. Great for quick visits, quiet study times, and more. Nice place for families and to take children. Lots of community events/great family times to be had.
Awesome place to find magazines, newspapers, books, dvds
It would be nice if the library would return to their pre-covid hours of operation of 9 am to 9 pm instead of 10 am to 8 pm that exists now. I also think public computer time should automatically be pushed to 90 minutes or longer, instead of only a hour. I don't like how if you only need a public computer for a few minutes and then you sign out, you can't sign back in the rest of the day and get the rest of the time. I don't think this should be. I think people should get at least a full hour of computer time, even if it's over two sessions.
I love the library! They have so many resources outside of just books and I think they have handled the pandemic with everyone s safety in mind. Checking out e-books has been my saving grace during so many months at home!
Used to take my kids here 30 years ago. It felt like a safe family environment back then.
Regarding the public computers, I'm aware the Lawrence library uses the same computers that the Topeka's library uses and in Topeka, the public computers allow a user to exit a session and then come back later in the same day and get back on (using the same card no, or guest pass) and resume their session but you can't do this at the Lawrence library. It seems someone at the Lawrence library has done something to prohibit this because these computers do allow this but it can't be done at Lawrence's public computers. I go to Topeka's library sometimes and I have logged out of a computer session (even with a guest pass) and later, in the same day, logged back in with the same guest pass and I was able to resume my computer session, but this can't be done at Lawrence's library and I wonder why since they have the same computers I believe that Topeka has.
Jeff in Accounts is very nice and easy to talk to. Lots of nice people at Lawrence's public library.
