Having been dealing with the family court system for several years now, there are some attorneys that I am very glad are not opposing counsel. Maureen Kersey is one such attorney. In my opinion, Maureen is right at the sweet spot in terms of attorneys you will find very experienced, but still young enough to be passionate, especially when arguing for your case. She also impressed me with how quick she was. There was one time when magically (to my eyes) she was an expert on 400-pages of text messages seemingly overnight. That morning, she argued passionately for my case. I am still not sure how she managed to become so proficient in my complicated case in so little time in general. My case had a lot of history that she came up to speed on very quickly. I believe that translated to saved money. This is all a long way to say that if you re looking for an attorney and have no idea who to go with, you ve just found someone really good. Maureen was the third lawyer with whom I spoke about my need to file for divorce. There apparently isn't a negative star rating, or I would have chosen one. Maureen represented me in a divorce during which one of the pivotal issues were retirement accounts of my ex wife. She neglected to include a sizable account in the Final Decree of divorce asserting to me that there was only one account, when in fact there were two. because of this omission, I've lost a significant amount of money. The statute of limitations has now expired to sue her for malpractice. Very, very dissatisfied former client. In fact, when hiring her, you should hire another lawyer to check her work! And lawyers wonder why we hate lawyers!

I hired Maureen earlier this year based on my ex-husband's request to reduce or eliminate his alimony payments. Maureen was amazing throughout the entire process which lasted over six months and was emotionally draining at times. From a financial perspective, her prices are very fair and comparatively inexpensive; she also offered me the ability to complete much of the leg work and documentation summarizing the financials of the case to reduce my fees. She was at times brutally honest, but that also kept things in perspective as far as my expectations.
