Launceston Place Restaurant Review

Beautiful place in Kensington with great selection of wine and high-quality food (some British classics with a nice twist - and nicely prepared for vegetarian guests as well). Make sure to leave some space for dessert.

There is only one word to describe this place: Heaven! The detail, the flavours, the experience, the service is just excellent. This is so far my best restaurant in London. Credit to the chefs, and all the employees at the front of house and serving at the tables. Every single person had high knowledge and understanding of the products, the ingredients and customer service was 10 out 10. Excellent place for a romantic night, social with friends or to impress your wife. It was just excellent. #TopRestaurant

The best lunch I have ever had in terms of price (Set Menu Lunch). The service we recieved, quality of ingredients and the food we ate. Really can't say anymore. I could write a lengthy review but if you are curious about this place book it, don't hesitate. If I could give it more than 5* I would.

We had a great time! The frame is simple but elegant, the card is a little mysterious since it announces only the names of the products used without more information, but the taste is there! Really delicious! Including cocktails and wines. And a little crush on the original presentations of the dishes! An experience that I recommend absolutely!

Excellent cooking here. I came for the lunch set menu which is an absolute bargain particularly for the high quality of food that you get. I will definitely come back to try the evening menu at some point.

This was our 3rd visit to this restaurant, this time for Sunday lunch and it was very impressive yet again on all fronts. Service is delightful , from the moment you walk in you feel welcome , it is professional without feeling stuffy. The food was delicious and all the little treats in between courses add to experience. When our desserts were delayed due to a souffle collapse we were given a pre dessert to keep us going ,then, very kindly the cost of all our desserts was removed from the bill! Overall a great restaurant that I would recommend to anyone.

I am vegetarian and my guest was pescatarian and gluten intolerant. Although dinner was expensive, the food was inventive and delicious. The staff were wonderful and accommodating of all of our requests.

Ben Murphy is an exciting young chef with great Michelin pedigree. Launceston Place will have a star if not multiple in the years to come. Worth visiting while it's still a bit unknown.

Took advantage of the ES set menu and went with my family last week. It was an absolute gem! Top service 10/10, food presentation 10/10, ambience 10/10 (background music was surprisingly unromantic though, in such a romantic setting!), taste 8/10 (...not convinced by chef's use of mint/lemongrass otherwise perfect).
I loved the experience and look forward to return for the tasting menu soon.

The food was highly imaginative and was delicious blend of flavours. Each course was explained and presented beautifully. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The experience made a graduation celebration very special

The experence from end to end was superb. The food and wine was outstanding, the service excellent, and all in all it made for an unforgettable evening.

This is a must go place, if you ve never tried fine dinning(and with this I mean a proper one with little surprises while you eating) and you want your mind to blow, this is the next place you should go. A lot of Pierre Koffmanns influence More

Superb food and excellent service. Only minus was that the air conditioner wasn't working and it felt stuffy inside.

Food was good, wine list was over priced really, service should have been better for a restaurant aspiring to this level. We were interrupted mid conversation by waitresses wanting to ask questions or put things on our table. Overall I have nothing really to complain about but the place left me with a feeling that I won't be coming back.

A wonderful experience. Quite simply, a fantastic afternoon celebrating our friends' wedding. The service was impeccable, from making all the arrangements beforehand, the welcome, service throughout and of course the food / wine / champagne was superb. We had the tasting menu and loved every beautiful (but not fussy) morsel. Stylish foodie London at it's absolute best with friendly, professsional and a super knowledgeable team. Thank you.

Very remarkable place that I ever visited. The ambiance is lovely and beautiful, with a great lighting, romantic candles, and a pleasant atmosphere. If you are looking for a perfect place to have a relaxing and delicious meal and quiet conversation this place is the one that you must go.

Ingenious dishes creatively presented. The Michelin star is palpable and well deserved once a final decision has been made.

Our courses, especially the signature Pierre Koffman dessert are a work of art and pure genius.

We booked here for 1:30pm. We had a baby with us, they were ready and knew my name. Very importantly gave us a seat appropriate for a pram. They were all polite, attentive and super nice. They look like they loved their jobs. The food was amazing, one of the best I have tasted. Such an amazing experience. Really loved it and will come back.

Great Restaurant, ambient and food. We have been there lots of times and never let us down. Last time with a set menu from the London Restaurnt festival and every plate was a mix of good products, lovely textures and incredible flavours.
Also the service is always great, recommending the perfect wines to match the food and the menu included for plenty of complementary treats that were all innovative. We look forward for the next time as we will definitely return.

Upmarket and interesting food! Good ambience and not too noisy!

Had a delicious lunch which was good value. Really enjoyed all our food and loved the cheese trolley. Sommelier's wine suggestion was excellent too. Very good service.

Wonderful food and very good service. Come back here quite regularly. Background music a bit louder than normal this time but I am hoping that was because it was a quiet Sunday evening.

I have visited this restaurant several times now and on every occasion the service is impeccable! The setting is cosy and welcoming! Last but not least the food blows me away from the beautiful presentation to quality ingredients all creatively placed all add to the experience and prepare you for the fantastic tasting dishes.
To top it all off your waiter can tailor a wine selection from the preference of your pallet and which will compliment your meal choice.

Squid starter was absolutely amazing! Chicken was executed well and the dessert pudding was so light and fluffy. Great place to have a sunday lunch!

This restaurant has a very welcoming feel to it. Love the interior and all the staffs are so friendly. Although it s a fine dinning restaurant, it doesn t have the snobbish vibe like many other places.
We had the tasting menu and we enjoyed every single dish on the menu. Their breads and toasts are amazingly delicious. When we re so full after the main, they served us a great dessert so the whole dinner ended at high. When I made booking, I let them know that it s for a birthday celebration and they seated us at a very nice table. At the end, they even brought in a small piece of cake to say happy birthday.
All in all, we really like this restaurant and we will definitely be coming back for more!

Wonderful experience. Located in a beautiful area, just a few minutes walk down from Kensington Palace.

I had the tasting menu, which was amazing, creative and delicious. Every dish was good, but my favourites were the Foie Gras egg and soldiers, and the Presa Iberico.

The meal was paired with wonderful wines, and additional amouse bouche and cheese were offered throughout.

The staff were friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain each course, and even recommending the order to eat things in.

Outstanding! Attention to detail, excellent food and FUN. Staff super hospitable. We had New Years Eve dinner and enjoyed every moment. Add to your list if your a foodie. Each dish was a wonderful surprise.

Revisted Launceston Place. As before, every staff encountered were super hospitable, friendly and knowledgeable. They were very attentive but not overbearing.

The non alcoholic Seedlip Grove 42 cocktail drink based on Roja Parfumes certainly did hit the spot.

The amuse bouche highlighted the main star, the humble beetroot. The celeriac starter was dainty but very tasty. The vegetarian main meal was the humbly titled "mushroom". It consisted of shimeji mushrooms over large mushroom halves with foam on top and yeast around the plate. To my suprise this was very filling and it was truly appreciated the skill complexities gone into making this dish. The dessert included "Kelloggs" which had white chocolate, almond and cranberry sauce. It was divine! The other dessert was a Snickers based dessert but my favourite was th pear infused mousse with a white chocolate outer shell in the shape of, and sprayed with colour to make it look like a, pear.

To finish of this amazing dining experience I ended up a flat white, and some petite fours. The coffee is probably one of the best I have had.

I was totally stuffed by the end of the lunch to the point I did not even had dinner.



An easy 5 out of 5 from me. You will not be disappointed.

Original review based on tasting menu on 21st Nov: Came here to try out the vegetarian tasting menu. Gave it 4 out of 5.

All staff encountered were very friendly and knowledgeable. The ambience was on point.

Every dish had the 'wow' factor, each dish was a work of art- they looked so good I actually felt guilty to even touch it. The taste of every dish was excellent too. The non alcoholic drink good but not worth the steep price considering it had no alcohol.

The tasting experience lasted 3 hours.



Would I be back? Sadly not due to leaving the restaurant feeling hungry.

Food and service were exceptional. The staff were extremely knowledgeable regarding the food. Tasting menu was excellent with the scallop, veal and egg and soldiers being particular highlights.

Exceptional Moment, a Team with so much Heart and Energy! A succulent menu where the discovery of flavors is at the rendezvous and with so much surprise and daring. Thank you for this moment Magic and the little French touch ... A place in London to spend an intimate moment and treat his taste buds.

We absolutely loved the tasting experience. Wine pairing was also so worth it. It made it extra special.

Great experience. Neighbour hood relaxed feel with Michelin star service and food excellence. It's expensive too but I felt it justified the tag. 3 course will feel like 5 as they bring you lots of lovely little amuse bunches to be getting on with. I'll go again.

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The food is not only beautiful but also exquisite. Marvellous service and the restaurant itself is cozy and classy.

Had a Sunday lunch menu for boyfriend's birthday. Tucked away in a corner of Kensington, the restaurant layout is designed to give each table enough privacy to make it special. The food was excellent, very impressed by presentation (crisps tied together with a little ribbon! amazing). So far one of our best meals in London, if not the best so far.

As always excellent service and also the food is to die for although I wish the portions were just a little larger.

Modern and casual fusion cuisine. An interesting experience at a reasonably expensive price.

There's a new chef at Launceston Place: Ben Murphy. Ben's food is outstanding. Of course it's all technically perfect, but it's more than that, it's interesting. The flavours are pronounced when he wants, subtle at other times, surprising and never dull. The menu descriptions are minimalist, minimalist enough to raise an eyebrow but they get the message across. I'm delighted to say that the waiters are charming and efficient, the level of professionalism that you expect at a Corbin and King or Jason Atherton restaurant. It's sophisticated dining at a fair price, it's not cheap, but it is fair. Launceston Place is back in the game.

First class restaurant - really worth the money paid. We had the lunchtime set menu and it was excellent both in quality and the value for money. There were all sorts of amuse-bouche provided that were a pleasant surprise that just made the whole meal. What an introduction to fine dining!

Amazing service without it being aloof or snobbish. Great food, great drinks and generally a fantastic evening out. When I say "would eat there again", it's because I fully intend to rather than some abstract idea.

We had a leaving dinner here, the food was great and the selection of wines were excellent.

Excellent service, imaginative food and a delightfully relaxed atmosphere. Our third visit and not one has been disappointing in any way.

Carlo and the restaurant staff were very accommodating and I felt very safe and that they were compliant with covid guidance. The menu is excellent with lots of interesting and tasty dishes! I've been twice now and would definitely recommend for lunch or dinner.

Such an amazing experience. The staff were friendly and pitched everything perfectly. We have never eaten in a place like this before, but we were not patronised or made to feel like we didn't belong. The food was explained and I could not help but feel very excited everytime the staff turned the corner with a new dish.

The food was on a different level to anything we had tasted before. We loved the little finishing touches and the flavours were out of this world. I was served food that I have never previously liked (such a beetroot! Dill) And I can honestly say I loved it. I genuinely think anything served at Launceston Place could change your views on things you think you don't like.

Thank you so much to the head chef who came up to see us it was really lovely to be able to tell him how amazing the food really was. Such a special time for my daughters 18th that I am sure she will never forget. So thank you so much to all the staff. We will definitely be back.
