We went to Launceston Place for our 25th Wedding Anniversary's meal and I can say that the facility is awesome, lovely customer service, exquisite food and drinks and very good ambient.

My wife celebrated her birthday at Launceston Place on September 13, 2018. We both had the tasting menu, mine being modified due to lactose intolerance issues. I also had the wine pairing. When finished some four hours later we sat for a moment and "pinched" ourselves. We had just experienced one of the most remarkable dining experiences possible. From the amuse bouche to the last bit of dessert, the food was incredibly well prepared and presented. The dishes were beautiful. The food delicious both in taste and texture. Nothing was boring or routine. Yet nothing was outlandish either. All was interesting and a gastronomic treat. Wines were unique as well and went extremely well being paired with the 8-9 courses. Service was grand without being stuffy. Very comfortable. Very satisfying. Launceston Place should be Michelin Starred in our opinion. Special kudos to Chef Ben Murphy, Sommelier Machime , server Mattei and Maitre d Pauline. If you are looking for a fabulous dining experience in London, head for Launceston Place.
We had the tasting menu. The food was outstanding. Wine was good. Service charming.
At the moment the best restaurant in London. Period!
Very enjoyable midweek evening as a pre-theatre meal.
I thought it might be too quiet at 6pm but not at all, it felt busy and welcoming.
I particularly liked the gin and tonic pre-dinner cocktail (frozen juniper berries in the ice) and the little amuse bouche which arrived between courses. All food was superb and the chocolate pudding was divine.
The staff were very friendly and attentive BUT they really need to work on their English accent to make themselves understood. For each course we were provided with a verbal description by the waiter/waitress but we couldn't understand any of it (2 English and 1 French guest). We all looked at each other mystified and tried to work out what we'd just been told.
This is the only aspect where Launceston Place lost points. Otherwise perfect.
Really enjoyed the food and service here. They have a good value weekday lunch menu and it comes with lots of nice surprises like snacks before starters and treats after dessert. The staff are friendly and professional. My mum really liked it. Thanks
wonderful service and fantastic food. definately going back!
Exceeded expectations!
Had the pre-theatre menu, which was of high quality, beautifully presented and with so much complex flavour. The staff were attentive, without being intrusive. Melvyn even had a piece of birthday cake with a candle. What more could we have asked for!
Absolutely loved it. Great food, attentive service without being annoying. A lovely lovely experience.
We went on a Tuesday there were too many staff so you never got left alone. Food was excellent
Ben Murphy the new chef here is working wonders, producing innovative, tasty and spot on dishes. Restaurant itself super cosy, lots of small dining areas. Staff excellent!
Here for the first time tonight as a group of 6 and we were blown away. Your review is precisely on the money. Best, you can speak in a low voice and actually be heard. These folks take this very seriously and it shows.
My favorite restaurant in London. Best for Sunday lunch.
Outstanding service, very good food but background music does unfortunately not fit to the ambiance of the restaurant.
We had a great time, our french waiter was very nice and the food was excellent. The first amuse bouche tho was weird (duck liver mousse and chocolate with rice crispy...) The decoration is chic and elegant, I really liked it. Next time hope they have air conditioning, it was hot in there.
A refined and elegant restaurant with refined and original and unique dishes
Staff super prepared and adapted to the needs of the place
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Creative food with plenty of culinary surprises to keep us entertained between courses. Did their very best to adapt dishes for my very happily-fed dairy-free partner. Will go there again for sure as one of the best restaurants we've experienced in London.
Amazing food and amazing service. Perfect date night or celebration dinner restaurant
Great experience dining here. Fun and unique dishes!
Had lunch here a few times which is terrific and good value. Yesterday was my first time here for dinner. Took my family for a special celebration and wasn't disappointed. Tasting menu was delicious and service excellent. Staff took account of some unusual food allergies.
One of the best tasting menus I have had in a long time. The food was very inventive, the flavours were very interesting and unique and worked on every level. My favourite of the courses has to have been the Spelt, Jerusalem Artichoke and Parsley, for the unexpected textures and flavours. The selection of cheeses were the best I have seen and the matching wine flight was incredible. I Enjoyed it so much I am going back again in for my birthday!!!
Delightful experience. Dining for foodies. Excellent food and service. A special night out.
A wonderful spot with the new chef, it has returned to even greater glory. Redecorated, refurbished, it has a lighter tone. The food, however, is deadly serious and terrific. Try the set lunch, fabulous value.
Had their tasting menu. Found a hair in my starter - enough said. Told the staff and they took it away without an apology.
A michelin-starred restaurant should have better service than this.
They are trying hard, but quality of cuisine doesn't match the attentiveness of the wait staff - they got the spelling of my surname wrong (hence no confirming email) and I object to being asked to confirm my reservation when I haven't More
Best fine dining in Kensington away from the busy high street...
We have just had an excellent Easter lunch with good wines. Should come more often. Mark, Philip, Pauline, Jeremy and Mattieu looked after us very well. Compliments to the chef.
My wife and I dined here on Saturday evening for a special birthday treat and could not have been more impressed. The food was superb and the service faultless. I will be recommending Launceston Place to our friends and family as one of THE places to go on special occasions. Thank you to the staff for the unexpected birthday treat as well. We shall definitely be returning when we next visit London.
Not expensive for what it is and a place my wife and I keep returning to. Superb food , beautifully presented and delivered by very friendly , unfussy staff. Whilst inevitably a lot of the clientele are well heeled and well off you don't feel like you are intruding on a hi-so cafe which it is so easy to feel at other Michelin starred places.Highly recommended and I can't wait until our next booking. Oh and finally always have the house wine which is superb in taste and value which for me is always a touchstone of a decent , customer focused establishment.
Agastronomic delight. Attentive service, good atmosphere. Delicious food. Presentation of food is amazing.
Quality food. Exceptional service. Amazing ambience. Off the beaten track. Londons finest. Guaranteed to return.
Really great place now been to twice. Really great food, I suspect this place will have some stars very shortly. Tried tasting menu both times; highlights are just about every dish but you will remember the pork dish, the celeriac and the dessert. Amazing !
Service was excellent, food excellent and all in a cozy environment.
A very pleasant experience I wouldn t mind repeating when next in the area.
An excelente restaurant! The whole experience of dining is so exciting. Creative, delicious and innovative. The area where it is located is delightful. All in all a wonderful experience.
What a creative and delicious pleasure! This excellent team brings amazing food and thoughtful pairings...plus surprising specials. The interior architecture offers intriguing sight lines. Beautiful balance of relaxed elegance, charming cleverness, and good mealtime. (And my favorite cheese course since years.)
Brilliant attentive service and delicious interesting food
Unlike all the Asian visitors, we really enjoyed the food!
Sublime!!! Our favorite special place to go when we visit London.
Fabulous lunch! Food was innovative and tasty while not too complicated. Use of ingredients and flavours were divine, really impressed with the presentation of everything too. From the get go this place delivered nothing but perfection, even the selection of cheeses were delectable. Would highly recommend for a Lunch, look forward to coming back and trying the tasting menu for dinner. Review to be updated after!
An excellent experience - extremely knowledgeable & proud staff
Amazing food and service - both above that of many than many 1 Michelin star restaurants in London.
We had an absolutely delicious pre-Prom dinner. Very reasonably priced, fantastic food and brilliant service. Really, we could have wanted for nothing else.
Not for every budget. The food was lovely. The service was exceptional. The staff and management are doing a world class job here. Very impressed.
Enjoyed the tasting menu, creative and well-presented dishes, interesting choices of wine to go with. Excellent service! Highly recommended!
Giving that this was our first meal out since before lockdown, we were understandably a little unsure about how the evening would unfold. Our concerns were soon put to rest as the welcome we received was very warm and we were very happy with how we were seated in terms of distance from other tables.
The food itself was superb. We have eaten in various Michelin restaurants and I can safely say that the food we received last night was on par and in some instances - better!
Our starters were served to us by the head chef. This was a very nice touch that we have never seen before - well done Ben!
The service in general was outstanding. We felt our needs were catered exceptionally well and at no point did it feel intrusive. ( A skill not mastered by all restaurants )
All in all we really enjoyed our first experience at Launceston Place and we have already decided to bring friends when we attend again.
Thanks Launceston team
One of the best places to eat in London, I had the opportunity to work there and I can assure that the kitchen is very clean, the staff kind and responsible for the client's preferences and intolerances. I strongly recommend Launceston Place.
Amazing food, a joy for the taste buds, beautiful presentation. Very polite, professional and capable staff.Very pleasant, well decorated and furnished cosy modern restaurant. Highly recommended
Yes the food is very good, but it is served in such small portion that it feels like a joke. What are truly amuse bouches are marked and served as a "courses" and it is very frustrating. Similarly the wines are very well picked and varied, but again served in much smaller quantities than any other Michelin starred restaurant I have been. You should not feel like a cost cutting exercise is performed while you are paying that much money for your degustation.
Lovely atmosphere and top notch food. One of the nicest fine dining restaurants in London
We went for the Evening standard set menu but we ended up ordering an extra starter and a cheese platter. This was purely because the a la carte menu looked very appealing! The atmosphere is great, the service was perfect, relaxed but very attentive. Mattia looked after us very well and it's been very pleasant talking to him throughout the dinner. We will be back!
Thank you for a very nice evening.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. The area is just beautiful so it feels like a treat before you walk through the door. We opted for the tasting menu and they were happy to adapt one set of dishes as my wife is pregnant with no fuss at all. The food was good quality and my wine was brilliant. I'd recommend the tasting menu so you get to try lots of things. The only downside for us, was that we were on a table next to an Instagram obsessed group who were constantly posing, taking candles from the next table to help with lighting and getting up and down constantly to take pictures outside. Yes, they were funny to laugh at, but it was very distracting.
Beautiful ambiance perfect for special occasions or just catching up with friends. Food was creative and delicious and service was excellent.
We had a dinner there after Proms last night. Very good quality of food and services! It's a nice place to go.
Amazing restaurant, great service and a wonderful tasting menu
Fine gastronomic restaurant, with a very creative cuisine, just near Hyde Park and the Royal Albert Hall: small dinning rooms in a sober and posh decor, beige and black. The new chef, Tim Allen, was a former Whatley Manor second. Plate More
Very great experience overall.
We went for the afternoon tea and it was delicious! Decoration and atmosphere was amazing. The only reason why I don t give them 5 stars it s because the service was quite slow, they lost our tea order which took a while to get to the table and we were left with our empty dishes for a long time before they realized and brought the next one. Apart from that, I ll be back!
I had been waiting to visit Launceston Place for a long time. We had a great experience. The food, wine and service was excellent, it just flowed beautifully. Your maitre'd suggested and upsold so naturally, it was wonderful to see.
We added a fish course, prompted by the maitre'd along with the signature dippy egg!
The food was exceptional - the little snacks to start with, the smoked haddock filled stick and the duck buns, amazing. The chicken liver parfait was perfect, so smooth and with a beautiful grape gel on top. Both desserts we had were amazing, particulalry the soufle. A real treat, and worth the wait. The food was certainly Michelin standard, and one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Looking forward to going back again.
Very remarkable place that I ever visited. The ambiance is lovely and beautiful, with a great lighting, romantic candles, and a pleasant atmosphere. If you are looking for a perfect place to have a relaxing and delicious meal and quiet conversation this place is the one that you must go.
Amazing food. Very friendly and attentive staff. Relaxed an cozy. Definitely going back.
Meal for two from the lunch menu: The food was very nice, nicely plated and perfectly cooked. Some interesting combinations that were refreshingly different. Service was good. On the downside, the chair was wobbly on a divide on the floor, plus the glass roof when sunny makes you hot. Nice for the first time at a Michelin starred restaurant but would expect better, especially if we chose from the more expensive menu.
Outstanding food and excellent service. Friendly in beautiful room
Excellent food and service. The suffle pistachio was fantastic. Good wine pairing.
High quality restaurant. Good at lunch but you pay for it
Very enjoyable lunch with really tasty courses, relaxed ambience and attentive service. Will be going back for more!
Gastronomique food at high prices that avoids the usual big plate/small food syndrome of designer chefs. Don't come here for the atmosphere or top-draw service, but as an experiment. Recommended.
I come back here each and every time I m in London. Started to visit this place in 2011 and have been back 5 times since then.
I m never disappointed and have always been pleasantly surprised how this place ups in game each and every time I come back to visit.
Kudos to everyone! I truly recommend this place. One Michelin star is not enough to do justice to this place but I m afraid prices will increase with another star
Lovely innovative food , friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful meal and ambience. Highly recommended.
Mind b l o w n. Extremely creative, delicious, new flavour combinations and amazing presentations executed perfectly. We went for lunch. Not a normal lunch. 5 minute walk off Kensington High Street, hidden in a residential area. It is an experience, you will remember it.
Colleague found it for a business meeting, we had a conference nearby at the Royal Garden Hotel. Couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised at this find. Highly recommended. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
Launceston Place is a beautiful modern British restaurant located in 19th century townhouse based in well-to-do Kensington.
The low-lit setting, elegant interior design, parquet floors and linen tabletops create a romantic ambience, which makes this restaurant perfect for date nights.
You can expect all the trimmings of traditional manners and hospitality i.e. it's first-class. It is a small venue but that's no bad thing, it just takes the intimate vibes up a notch.
The wine list is impressive with fine red and white from all around the world so, if you like wine, you'll like this. Even on a Thursday evening, it didn't get too busy. You're likely to find a table here, but still, RSVP just to be sure.
I can only comment on drinks since that was the purpose of my visit, and I can confirm that they were excellent. Beautifully balanced and properly presented. Expect the classics as well as a few original creations.
You can't fault Launceston Place here. Obviously, it won't come cheap at all, but if luxury and first-class British dining experience is what you're after, this is the place.
Generous portions of delicious and superbly presented food.
Had a lovely tasting menu meal here. Everything was very good. Staff were friendly and attentive without being too attentive. Not cheap but it was a special event meal and a good place to go for a special treat.
The food was absolutely magnificent. we had the taster menu. I couldn't pronounce anything on my plate but it all tasted excellent. This is a fine dining restaurant and I would recommend dressing up in formal attire if you are going to attend.
