The Seminar has a seminar hall with a seating capacity of 1500, six different stalls with meeting rooms, a reception hall, a cinema hall and office rooms. It also has the ability to convert seven languages simultaneously. The total land area is over 32000 square meters.

WHO WE ARE

An outright gift from the People s Republic of China, BMICH was built as a tribute to Late Prime Minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike. Initiated in 1970, the completed first purpose-built conference center in Asia was inaugurated in 1973. Replete with a magnificent conference & concert hall and function rooms, it was the first of its kind to accommodate a multitude of events both local and international. Over the years increasingly novel features were included to further enhance the facilities and accommodate guests looking to host splendid events.

I have been able to be here several times. As an academic have attended my convocation, attended few convocations as academics and many times as a visitor. Most of the events such as exhibitions and convocations are hosted here where ample space is available for almost all kind of events and rooms can be booked in advance as per the seating and other requirements.

One suggestion would be to include a detailed guide at the entrance in a simple way to locate the specific room will ease the visitors to reach the place easily.

It's nice, modern only catering needs much improvement.

The largest convention hall of SL opened around 1973 gifted by China & maintained by SL government (BNMF) since then. Basically can hold upto thousands of heads as per capacity and includes 1 major and few mini halls (lotus / jasmine & etc.) Well maintained & renovated from time to time. Entrance and venue security checks are at higher level due to the venue being recognised as one of the high profile convention halls in SL. BMICH has held many international & locals events such as annual edex / book fairs & career fairs... Education institutes are also keen to hold their graduation ceremonies at BMICH due to the reason of space availability for higher number of heads per hall, provide a view thats perfect for a grad pic & easy access. SL police & a branch of Mt.Lavinia hotel is located permanently. Condition of facilities are at higher quality (washrooms with huge mirrors, halls, dressing rooms, mini halls, lobby with elements such as siyapath, small convention halls,meeting lounges, outdoor spaces, billboards, parking slots, garden and water spring) Recently i noticed a waleema function being held at a mini hall (a Muslim marriage function) so that means private functions are accomodated with earlier bookings (An observation at my end) easy access from Bauddhaloka Mawatha but may have heavy traffic at office peak times. Arrive early to avoid inconvenience. Attend functions with responsibility since its a great asset of SL and we shall preserve this for our next-gen.

Clean and neat. Ilsimply this place call as 'BMICH'. Mostly recommended for common events, shows and exhibitions.

Biggest location in colombo for large scale exhibition/conventions

Last week I went for our schools' annual prize giving. The hall has very good lightning facilities, good capacity,etc.

Hard to reach, Traffic jam is damn high. better u walk from Borella town.

One of the best places for exhibitions and conventions. Good parking space. Well maintained auditoriums. And Situated in a calm area.

The construction of the hall was carried out by a joint Sri Lankan and Chinese workforce with a considerable portion of the building materials being imported from China.
In 1998 a small Exhibition Centre, the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre, was built on the grounds as a gift from China.[2]
The BMICH premises is managed by the S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation (BNMF) which is chaired by the President of Sri Lanka.
The BNMF has an academic wing specialised in International Relations, Languages and Cultural Studies named "Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS)" located within the BMICH premises.

best place for arrange ceremonies, prize giving etc..

This is an international conference hall which has a large space. Usually all conversations near to Colombo are held in this hall. Other days there are so many exhibitions to attend. However, I guess it doesn't have enough parking space. If you're late to come for an exhibition most of the time you have to wait for a parking space. Also if you're hungry you can have food from Mount Lavinia hotel outlet. At the entrance you can see a beautiful water pond in front of the main conference hall. No visitors allowed to enter to the main conference hall without permission.

For years this the main conventional center in Sri Lanka. It hosts lot of events in Sri Lanka.

There are canteens and rest rooms are well maintained. There is a large parking area but sometimes there may be no space to park your vehicle.

Apart from main hall, there are few halls out side.

International exhibition and conference centre. Visited for my daughters graduation, it was hot as the AC was turned on only half hour before the start of the event. Not cool at all.
