nice ambiance, quiet, garden and terrace are great and last but not least good dining

Were warmly received and served. Fantastic dinner with excellent wines. Whatever you asked, nothing was too much. A lot of praise for Gerda, a hostess pur sang!

Recently had a buffet here, the fish smelled so bad that the guests in the restaurant started to complain while they were more than 100 meters away.
The steak was prepared as a stew, I didn't even try the chicken, peas as a vegetable ..
Sorry knows what time they live there but this is really not possible anymore ..
The soup and bread were fine ..

It is a beautiful environment. It's a bit of a shame that there are no signs in the forest so you can see which path goes where. You can also enjoy delicious food there. Service is great. Warm authentic look.

Great hotel. Friendly people. And for those who have to start early, breakfast from 6.30 am.
Quiet area with an old landscaped garden with numerous beautiful and special trees. There is also a petting zoo. Situated between all this greenery, it is therefore wonderfully quiet.

We had some coffee and cake. The cake was really good! But the service was terrible, she servant was angry and stressed and just kept saying how busy it is and that she was tiered... It was not busy at all.
If you come and want enjoy you weekend and relax you don't want to hear someone complain every minute.
So sad..

Beautiful estate, nice forest for a walk if you stay at the adjacent campsite or in hotel Ekenstein.

Not so bad that you want to flee at all costs, not so good that you want to come back. Covid19 works against the atmosphere everywhere, but the rooms here do not make up for much. Very dirty especially the bathroom. Worn furniture and a small TV with a channel or 13. I would not dare to see the rooms with a blacklight. Fortunately, the price per night is not too high. Breakfast was nothing wrong with that either. A simple charging point for cars is also not yet available.

I am very satisfied and even mejr than that! I am on the way to the sea and had to book a room in short-term. Quick and easy. I was 5 minutes after the kitchen was closed, but I got hot food anyway! Since I had to check out at 6 in the morning I could not take the breakfast. But I got a packed lunch on the way! Also the taxi to the harbor was organized for me. I could relax very well. I did not have to worry about anything. And the morning the peacock screams, I did not find annoying. When else do you hear this bird!

Found it personally disappointing, a large piece of land for walking but after a certain time no longer in the evening. Food was expensive and was very disappointing.

Beautiful historic country estate and estate from 1648 on Damsterdiep in Appingedam in Groningen. The monumental buildings have a catering function and are authentically decorated and very attractive. This location is particularly suitable for a wedding party or other gatherings. Catering is of excellent quality. Ample parking.

Nice place to walk in the area and then sit by the fireplace! Lunch was simple, but great. Coffee was not very tasty or something.

Landgoed Ekenstein is a nice hotel, where you can have a delicious meal or, as we have done, high tea. There is a lot of forest, where you can also enjoy a nice walk. Really recommended!

Very beautiful building and surroundings. Very good food, breakfast and evening. Compliments to the cook. Rooms neat, bathroom a bit dated but clean. Would definitely go back if we can eat in the beautiful old spaces again.

The hotel was really awful. We stayed in an annex that was totally run down. The furniture totally worn, the curtains holey and dirty, the food in the restaurant was expensive and bad. Fed up become impossible. Bread apparently get only selected guests and the glass carafe was also dirty. Even a star is too much here ...

A historic, elegant place with a hotel and restaurant. In winter, the terrain and the outside area are of course not so inviting

It is a special location. Good food. Only the lighting is too much for me. Not really a restaurant for a romantic dinner. Perhaps for the over-60s who always want a lot of light.

If you just want to enjoy peace and nature, this is a recommended location !!!

The Ekenstein borg dates from 1648. It is wonderfully quiet in January. You can visit the nearby Appingedam. That is also surprisingly old with an old church and various other sights.
In Ekenstein you can enjoy delicious food. There are various arrangements, eg a walking arrangement.

Very nice authentic hotel with a magnificent estate where you can walk. Slept and had breakfast.

Nice walking, however, you notice that the decline is making its appearance both in the immediate surroundings and on the terrace.

Quite cozy but maintenance of buildings is a mockery.
