It was a good restaurant and I rated five stars. I went there today with two friends. We ordered hand pulled noodles with beef, shredded potatoes and lamb kebabs. Unfortunately, two friends threw up right after we finished the meal. I didn t feel well either. I hope their manager can give us an explanation on this. But anyway, I don t think I would visit this place again. In terms of food safety, even one mistake could not be tolerated.

This restaurant is delicious, inexpensive, and very fast. The food comes out very hot, in large portions, and the flavors are hard to beat. I particularly enjoyed the Chong Qing, which is a spicy pork bowl with hand pulled noodles. It is a good level of spice, while also having loads of good noodles.
What an amazing little restaurant this is! We've gone several times since they recently opened, and I must say, it is something special. Great pricing, authentic foods. Didn't love the beef, but everything else has been outstanding. I only wish they had more descriptions on the menu. Bring your friends!
The food is authentic and made to order - quite unique in the Ann arbor / Ypsilanti area. The front line is a bit shortly staffed vs the booming business.
It was our first time trying hand pulled noodles! Saw the reviews on Yelp and was intrigued by the menu. We both ordered the dan dan noodle, which we know we love, and this place was no exception! The texture of the noodles were very good with the right amount of softness and firmness. The portions were more than expected and even had enough left over to take home.
Definitely recommend coming here for a noodle fix! I will say though the wait time was a bit long so plan accordingly! This isn t good for a quick dinner spot but I will definitely be coming back to try more dishes. Side note: If you don t have time to sit down, they offer take out as well which I didn t realize until I saw someone walk in and walk out with food in under five minutes. It s definitely a time saver!
I can honestly confess we didn't like the dinner that we ordered, they were very professional! I will try it again! I would recommend this to my family and friends
The N8 Chong Qing Noodle is kind of my new favorite thing. I keep coming back and confusing the poor waitstaff by ordering it without vegetables and adding a hardboiled egg. The broth is nothing short of amazeballs.
This restaurant is absolutely fabulous. The flavor, and texture of the noodles is a league above anything I have had in Michigan. I have had Asian cuisine all over the country, and this is really some of the best. The service was really good too. They were friendly, and very helpful in their descriptions of the menu. We will be back, again, and again.
The portion sizes are excellent for the fairly cheap prices that are attached. It isn't a huge restaurant so I felt welcomed and at ease while enjoying my food. I definitely suggest hand-pulled noodles, especially with steak.
The service was fast and sweet. They paid attention to any needs we had. The noodles were some of the best I ve ever tried. And the position size is hugeeee for a low price. Would highly recommend. Can t wait to be back and try more menu items. Took the photo after I finished half the bowl.
Known for Noddles. Co worker was less than spectacular after settling for the generals chicken, even though they didn't have sweet n sour chicken. Stick with the Noddles.
When you hear the noodles slappin' in the back you know the foods authentic. With most dishes costing under 10$ it's affordable for an amazing experience of flavor
Everything we ordered was delicious! Whatever you do, order the scallion pancake. I've had a hard time finding good Pad Thai in A2/Ypsi and this was really good... not dry like others I've had.
I had a few friends recommend this spot, and it did not disappoint! We came around peak dinner time and probably waited 5 minutes tops. Food was delicious! Got the den den with a side of scallion pancakes. I would definitely come back!
This place was amazing! Everything I had was so delicious and reminded of food back in Asia. THE HAND PULLED NOODLES ARE SOOOO GOOD! You could definitely tell they're fresh. The scallion pancakes and boba(bubble tea) were sooo good as well. I've gone twice and will definitely go again. I crave their noodles and boba.
High-quality ingredients, and a definite place to check out for a premium taste of China. Personal favorite was the recommended beef noodles, taking slight advantage over other options for a first try.
Doordash users be aware! This restaurant FAKE The order to be ready (in the App) but actually delay The order for an hour! They waste time for both doordashers and customers! While delaying the orders without following rules, they are accepting more orders to come in. SCAM!
YUM! Great food. Great Service. Great prices for the portion sizes. They are doing an amazing job with safety precautions during this pandemic. The noodles are delicious!
Very good noodle dishes. We loved the scallion pancakes and the dumplings. The hand pulled noodles are thinner than we've had at other places, but still very good. The hot oil noodles had a great flavor, make sure you get it because it tends to hide in the sauce under the noodles. The rose bubble tea had a nice floral flavor. We did have to ask for plates after our appetizers came, but for the most part, the service was good and the staff were all friendly.
First time customer with a plan to return! The hand made noodles were amazing. I had the Vegetable Lo Mein and it was amazing. My husband had the General Tso s which was just as good! Loved it!
This is real Chinese food. Not the Westernized kind. I've been to China many times and I was very happy to find this place. I've had hand pulled noodles, but never saw this in the US before.
The restaurant met my criteria for a true ethnic spot. The chef and staff were all Chinese and spoke Chinese with many of the Chinese guests. I don't speak it, but I could close my eyes and feel like I was back in China.
I had the Chicken Hand Pulled Noodle. My son had Pork. We both added some spicy sauce and it made a world of difference. We also ordered the Chicken Egg Rolls, but I can't recommend them as they were not made in the restaurant.
I can't wait to take my wife. She's never been to China.
The noodles are amazing, but the ramen that they are in is only okay compared to other ramen places. And also the place is kinda tacky: The menus have stickers and writing all over them. If you have that many menu changes, you should just get new menus. Also, having vinegar in a soy sauce container with tape on it that says "vinegar" is kinda trashy. Just get new containers.
The moment I walked into this place I knew it would be great! The smell was similar to the noodle spot in Suzhou, Jiangsu PRC that I visited when I was working overseas. There seemed to be a slight Vietnamese flavor to some dishes. That isn't a bad thing just didn't expect it.
Plain and simple, the noodles were great and the beef was good. I have plans to visit often!
Cool new noodle focused Chinese place. Outside of good noodle dishes you can get entrees and appetizers that you would find in any other Chinese place. The taste is amazing. Both the noodle and non noodle dishes are great. Staff is friendly. Service was very fast. The place was swamped when we got in as well.
After reading positive reviews, my wife and I thought we should check it out. LAN City most certainly did not disappoint. The service was incredible. Many thanks to the staff. Sue graciously took the time to explain a lot of the menu items and recommended two fabulous dishes for us. Food was on our table in literally minutes. The portions are ginormous.
After your meal make sure you take a few minutes to watch their chef hand pull homemade noodles. It was quite a show!!!! We absolutely will return.
Ordered takeout here the other day. Everything was ready at the time specified. Noodle dishes were packed with everything separate, preventing stuff from getting soggy.
We ordered the beef brisket noodle soup, hot pepper oil noodle, lion roll, and spicy tripe & beef w/chilli sauce. Overall we were very satisfied with the dishes.
The beef brisket noodle soup tasted great and noodles were cooked well. The beef brisket was very tender and melted in our mouths.
The hot pepper oil noodle was not very spicy, but still tasted excellent. I added beef brisket and an egg. Both of which were cooked well and very good. The beef brisket add on is the same as the brisket found in the beef brisket noodle soup.
The lion roll was good and very crispy. I've never had this exact dish before, but it seemed similar to a fried .
The spicy tripe and beef was good, but nothing special. A good example of a classic dish.
I wish I knew about this place years ago when I had started undergrad at UMich.... easily the best Chinese noodles in Washtenaw County. Support great local family-owned businesses!! Must try the scallion pancakes.
The not so hidden gem in Ypsi... definitely worth a visit. Portions are huge. Every noodle soup is amazing. My fave is the duck one. Also their Singapore noodles are out of this world.
Bad service. Bad food. The lady was really mean and rude. And the food wasn't good as well. I just left it all there. And I would never go there again.
You'll probably like it if you are used to eating low quality chinese food (just about all chinese food falls into this category) . The noodles are definitely fresh but that doesnt really amount to much...it's noodles people...just a base carb to build upon...unfortunately everything else falls short. We had the beef signature soup dish that's similar to like a pho but not even half as good as some of the pho places in downtown ann arbor. This was pretty bland and not much spice at all...the broth was pretty beefy. The actual beef was pretty processed (think processed meats). We also had some super greasy lo-mein with slimy chicken and then some curry dumplings that i think were just filled with some sort of curry paste...both are what i'd expect from a low-quality chinese restaurant. Me and my wife would would never go back.
Hands down the best noodles in the Ann Arbor area!! I try something new every time and am never disappointed. I recommend Lan City to all of my friends. Keep up the good work!
Went here twice and we sampled a variety of noodle dishes and appetizers. It is well priced for the portion sizes and the noodles are freshly made and where most of their 'effort' goes. The flavors though were quite bland and very 'westernized'. Our shrimp me goreng with noodles was sickly, syrupy sweet, as if they had poured a cup of maple syrup on it. Steamed shrimp dumplings were overcooked, causing the dumplings to have a gooey, filmy texture on the outside. They needed to be absolute drenched in soy and hot oil for any flavor. The noodles with broth were extremely underseasoned. The noodles themselves are flavorless, they have a good texture but no flavor beyond that of plain flour. Our table was also not clean, had oil streaks and some food bits from the last customer. Finally, despite not closing for another hour, they were furiously sweeping and mopping the floors around the tables while everyone was eating which was odd.
Was impressed overall with the quality of the food. Everything was served fresh but our party of 8 was a little tough for them to accomdoate. They weren't able to time the food even relatively close which meant some people got food as everyone else was done.
The crab rangoons were great, some of the best, as with the dumplings and the entree dishes were too. The chicken noodle could have had more flavor.
Love this place!! It's ALWAYS crowded but doesn't take long to get a seat; be open to sharing a table. Never had anything bad. If you want your mouth to go numb, try the Chongqing noodles or hot oil noodles. Dan Dan mian and pork rib noodles are excellent! Can't go wrong with the scallion pancakes, egg rolls or pork & leek dumplings.
Food is great, however their menu needs to be reprinted with the actual pictures and ingredients of the dishes they are serving. The waitress was pushing us to eat what they cooked instead of what we ordered.3 stars because food was good, service gets 0 stars
Really amazing food and great service. This isn t any ordinary Chinese Resto joint. There are so many Malay- Singaporean dishes on the menu. The food is flavourful and well made. It is perfectly seasoned. The scallion pancakes are to die for. The pepper noodles too. There were plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. The staff and owners are super helpful and really nice. Let s keep this business in business!
I've only eaten the noodle dishes & they were delicious! The knife-cut noodles are wide & flat, and the hand-pulled noodles are round, and many of the dishes are soups (chicken with noodles, beef with noodles, lamb noodles...). They are messy to eat, but perfect for a cold day.
This place is unlike any other restaurant I have been to in Ann Arbor. The noodles are made in house (depending on when you are there, you can hear them hand pulling the noodles), and have a great and unique texture. I had the chicken hand pulled noodles (which is a soup dish) and added a plentiful amount of szechuan peppercorn oil. The oil adds a really interesting element in that it feels like you are eating something spicy, but with little to no mouth burn.
We also had the spring rolls, which were very good and comes with a delicious sweet (but not too sweet) sauce.
