LaMotta's Waterside Restaurant Review

Great food and view, but one really odd thing. The view was great and the food was very good, but here's what's odd. The fish tacos were made without tacos. It was fish and slaw on an aluminum taco rack but no actual taco shell so you could not pick it up. Basically fish and chips on a useless rack. The server thought it was funny. I didn't and there was no offer to fix the problem. As fish and chips it was fine, but who ever heard of taco-free tacos?

What a awesome place to pop in for a meal. Did so for the first time yesterday with my wife. Got great boat docking and despite being concerned over the quality of food, the food was very tasty and fresh. Can't wait to go back next year when hopefully COVID will not disrupt things as much.

Fun atmosphere and nice location by the water but the food and drinks are only mediocre and the service is appalling. Couldn t even get served at the bar as the staff were doing shots and chatting with their friends instead. They literally ignored the customers.

Would Not Serve Us.

I had my Fiance, Aunt and two Uncles with me. We just wanted drinks, because my Aunt and Uncle had been there before and said the food was not consistent. We told the hostess that we only wanted a round of drinks and asked to be sat in the tent portion because my 81 year old Uncle has a hard time walking and there wasn't any seats at the loud, barely shaded outdoor bar. The hostess sat us, but within minutes a woman came over on crutches and said we could not sit there unless we were going to order a full meal. I looked around and saw that there were only two or three tables of customers and the rest of the place was empty (I would have understood the rule if the place was actually busy or even partly busy). I told her we would only be there for about 30 minutes, but she said we had to go outside instead. My Uncle asked if we ordered some appetizers if we could stay, but she said no. I explained that there weren't any seats outside and pointed out that the place was empty and I did not understand why she was turning down business. She was rudely insistent so I decided not to argue with her further, because at that point they did not deserve our business and I was thoroughly turned off. It was a weird experience, because we felt like we were the rude ones daring to think we could have a drink there. Don't worry LaMotta's, I won't dare to come to your establishment again.

Too pricey. It's a shame because everything else was spot on.

Local Port resident. Been here numerous times but today sat at the Tiki bar for drinks and food, ignored for 15 minutes while 6 staff members sat there doing nothing but chatting. Walked out, took my business elsewhere in Port where the service is much better.

View is ok but everything else is not good, Food is awful and drinks are terrible. I tried twice with same results. Go elsewhere you are better off.

The atmosphere is good, but the food is not very good .. There is no squid in squid and there is a lot of squash in it.

Awful, margarita pizza was cold cheese wasn't even melted. Claw chowder was ice cold. Ignored for 10 minutes at the bar and it wasn't even busy. Bartenders flirting with customers and ignoring others! Third time i was less than happy there and I'm in the service industry!

Good food and drinks. Staff was great and the manager was very welcoming.

Overpriced garbage. The food took almost an hour to come out on a less than half full night. When it did, the short rib tasted like someone spilled the salt shaker on it. The manager had the nerve to justify it by saying they were a bit understaffed in the kitchen, then proceeded to blame it on the waitress when we weren't buying that excuse. The waitress didn't know the difference between 2 and 3 because she charged me for a glass of wine that I didn't have. And $16 for a Martini? If you're going to charge Manhattan prices, you better deliver a Manhattan-like product, otherwise you're just a pretentious wannabe diner with paper napkins whose only claim to fame is the view of the marina. And... Oh, if you're going to compensate for your failures by buying me dessert, at least have the decency to let me choose one instead of bringing me a Restaurant Depot cheesecake so that I would shut up and not complain about the $200 meal that was inedible.

Although the atmosphere is pleasant, I can honestly say it was some of the most disgusting food we have ever eaten. Salad was full of rotten lettuce, steak was awful, lobster nothing special, fries and chips terrible... None of us finished our meals.
I would not waste my time or money at this restaurant again.

Best of the waterfront restaurants, friendly family owned operated with good food and pleasant service. Live Bands in the Summer on most Weekend.

This place is the pits. The only good thing about it is the location. The service is VERY slow, The food is awful and the servers are nasty. Stay away from this place unless you want to pay top dollar for a frustrating experience.

Huge improvement with new owners and remodel. Food was excellent, all extremely fresh, well prepared and ample seafood lumped into the salad and pasta dishes. Will be coming back.

My family of 4 came here on a early Sunday evening and we were told there was a wait for about 15 minutes while there were open tables in and outside available. We were asked if we had reservations twice when I inquired about an open table on the water. After complaining a little we were able to get seated at the table I was asking about. Our waiter wasn't the friendliest either. The menu was very limited. Outdoors was ok , the bar had the biggest crowd and had a DJ. My wife and son had the chicken Ceaser salad and my daughter and I had the burger. Food was ok nothing great. Total bill was 63 bucks. Wouldn't recommend or return because there are way better options in that area

Awesome location and tasty food. However, lunch options were limited and food was slow to arrive.

Bad service, I was there with my family on 8/24/2018 we had to wait for 20 minutes for a waiter to at least serve us water an 30 minutes to place the order. When food was served we have no utensils we had to wait another 10 minutes to eat a already cold meal. Will never come back

We were lucky to get a table at the window to look out at the great view of the Marina ! We started out with a cocktail/very generous in size ! Some of us had the wonderful OVER sized FishTacos -the Lobster Roll was filled to the brim ! and we even had room for their wonderful desserts! Best part?? VERY reasonable for a fish place !!

Extraordinary environment and very friendly service. The food was fresh and enchanting. Will absolutely recommend this place to friends and family. Fair prices and generous portions. Keep it up.

This secret lobster special is amazing!!! You Must call in advance & tell them how many guests will be dining on the all you can eat lobsters! It's only on mon, tues & wed with reservation & ticket. Perfectly cooked and so worth it! Outdoor dining, costal living's best deal!

Plenty of outdoor seating. Great views of the bay and the boat docks.
While they do have an indoor seating area next to the bar, which is air conditioned due to the kitchen, they normally leave the doors to the patio open so it still gets rather warm inside.

I am currently on my way home from this restaurant not having eaten because 4 dishes still could not arrive after over an hour. We were there with my two kids who didn t get their meals until we reminded them 40 minutes later. My parents are back at the restaurant waiting for our meals in to go containers, still due to take at least 15 more minuets. Never going back.

The food was amazing, and unexpected being a small joint in a strip mall. The chicken parm and chicken francese were really rich and flavorful. But the fried calamari was like nothing I d ever had. The chef has a special way of tenderizing the squid that completely changed my take on calamari, one of my all time favorite foods. I ll never be able to enjoy it the same way after having La Mottas! They also gave a sample of a pork wing that was superb.

Atmosphere good, Customer Service Sucks, I went to restaurant hungry , I left starving. How does restaurant run out of salad and than known for lobster and runs out

Due to Covid they have no waiter service. U order at the bar and then wait until someone brings you your food. We have waited 1 hour!!! The food came in missing ingredients and bun from the burger was cold, potatoes were cold as well...

Food was average at best. Service was slow and inattentive. Food took forever. Overpriced, will not be back.

We had a great experience with the hostess. She was very nice in accommodating us, we came during happy hour and hung out in the bar area while we waited for our table. She let us know that it was pretty busy and we would have to wait a little while. We didn t mind the wait and it didn t end up being as long as she thought it would be which was great! The drinks were good and strong! Definitely worth the price. The food was good overall, one thing I was surprised by was the fact that they didn t serve whole fish, only fillets, since it is a seafood restaurant, but no biggie. There s a nice outdoor area with tables and a view of the marina, a nice place for a summer lunch, dinner or happy hour drinks! The indoor bar is very large as well and has a lot of TVs, seems like a nice area for sports events also.

We really like it here. Service is slow. But if your hanging out with friends you dont feel pushed

I had the pleasure of going to La Motta s for the first time today. It s location is beautiful - right by the water. I had attended a morning yoga event there that included a brunch. I was speaking to a friend while waiting for a table and overheard a very rude woman complaining about something. She was apparently in the same yoga class I took and was displeased about how long it took for the brunch to be served... mind you, the DJ for the yoga class was still in the process of breaking down his equipment so it was no one s fault that the brunch didn t start yet. I m bringing this up because the staff handled this rude, impatient woman with dignity and the patience of 10 saints. That s a great reflection of this restaurant ( as was the incredibly delicious avocado toast and home fries). I d gladly go back!

Second time there for lunch always a fine meal Had the lunch special of smoked salmon bacon lettuce tomato on rye bread was so delicious service was excellent as well and right in the water with plenty of parking

Yesterday,was my frst visit here, we went for Sunday brunch and it was SPECTACULAR! From making the reservation to being seated with my wheelchair-ridden mom at a table facing the water to the wine to the fabulous menu this place is amazing. Local gem. Hard to find place by the water. Fresh sea food, oysters, soft shell crabs, full bar, tap beer. Parking right in front. Great service. Welcoming and cozy place with amazing views on marina

The remodelling is complete and the new interior is beautiful! Their head chef is now in the kitchen full time, promising an even better menu.

Great food for a price, in a wonderfully scenic waterfront location. If it's the right time of year, sit out on the balcony for fresh air and a great view of the harbor. Service has been ok. Portions are enormous, so plan on some leftovers.

Nice place too stop when you're on a boat, fast service, staff was ok. Drinks where awesome.

I went with a party of eight for the first time and was extremely disappointed. We ordered the Sunday lobster special for two. Which comes with either a salad or soup, 2 pound lobster and wine or a beer for 32 dollars each.We waited a long time for the food to come out. Once the food came out we were missing one lobster that was for my parents. The waiter thought he had the order wrong but shortly after came back to tell us that they ran out of lobster that s why my parents had no lobster. Also, they ran out of salad. They could of told us that ahead of time not after everyone else was already eating. The manager apologized and said he thought they had enough lobsters. Never again.

Excellent experience!!!! The food was good, the service was good and there was a good band playing. We had a great time

The food was excellent -- We got some oysters to start, and though I'm not a fan of oysters in general, the table consensus was that they were very fresh and delicious. I got the jumbo lump crab fries, which were fantastic; my boyfriend got the scallops that were as soft as butter and cooked to perfection. The other two at the table with us got the lobster corn dog and the striped bass, both were very happy with their meals. I definitely recommend checking out this dock-side eatery, especially since it's only open on a seasonal basis!

Lamatta s has the best lobster roll on long island. And great wait staff. Will be back soon to try there mussels in white wine and garlic. Great atmosphere

For lunch I had class with linguine sauce. It was not as tasty as it should have been. The food in the past was definitely better.

The food is great and so is the staff. The view of the marina is amazing!

Bar tender was rude Also charged same price for iced tea (same size cup) as a mixed drink... At least ask if I want refills!

Good food, pleasant service with many seating options and can go here for either inside or outside bar with great views of the bay. The specials are usually the best dinners and the lunch menu and outside bar menu are great! Try the truffle fries, they are awesome! And the lobster roll is pretty solid here too.

Why is it that almost every seafood restaurant on the water on Long Island has bad food? I ordered a tuna tartar app. that had absolutely no taste. Fried calamari was under cooked and bland. We asked for very well done fries and even sent them back and got back the same bland boring limp fries. The one thing that was really good was the pot of steamers. There were plenty for 4 of us to share and they were sweet with a very tasty broth.
Maybe we just chose the wrong things to order but all four of us were no pleased with our main dishes. Nice location. If a good band is playing, the bar is fun. You are better off just sticking to the music and drinks.

Nice deck for dining when weather is good. Had a really good chicken sandwich for lunch. Good choice that day.

The BEST WATERFRONT RESTAURANT !!!!I I had my daughter's College Graduation Party outdoors, on June 3rd, 2017 and it was AMAZING!!!
Nadine helped us with the menu appetizers selection and pricing. It was worth every penny spent! The( appetizers instead of sit down dinner) of which I chose, were served all the time to my guests. Everyone was amazingly IMPRESSED!!! Alyssa was the greatest bartender , very communicative, excellent character and a true Professional!!! The whole staff basically, including the rest of the bartenders were absolutely phenomenon... I am still speechless and so were my guests and my daughter loved everything. The food was very tasty, and a lot. My guests could not stop raving about how everything tasted absolutely great, and that the service was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! My guests were texting me , thanking me for choosing such a great place. They will have their events at La Motta's as well, but also it will be their hangout place for luch and dinner and drinks! I was able to use my ipod for music connected to their speakers!! Unbelievable great views right at the front of the Marina!! Very spacious and comfortable. La Motta owners, please DO KEEP ALL YOUR STAFF and BARTENDERS, especially ALISSA and definitely your CHEFS!!! Keep up this fantastic job. This shows that you respect your customers and love what you are doing!!! BRAVO!!!! No other place has this combination of wonderful staff, food, scenery and atmosphere. Congratulations!!! I give you 10 ********** Stars If I could!! Tina was very nice and communicative as well, and cared very much how satisfied I was, and made me feel comfortable to let her know if I needed anything more for my party or my guests. The only thing is, I and all of us wished that we could have the music a little louder till at least 12:00 am., versus until 10:30 pm. But we know that it is the town rules, and not theirs.!!

Arrived here early for lunch with my family. No one at any of the outdoor tables. Saw 3 employees. Neither of them greeted us! When I asked for a table for 4, we were told in a rather unwelcoming way to order here and find your own seat . No kids options! Lobster grilled cheese was on the menu. So we asked if our 1 year old grandson could get grilled cheese.... NO ......,And adios we went.

I don't know why we came back to this place?? Probably for the view. The worst service ever!!! The hostess couldn't have been nastier. Waited an hour for food to come and half the order was wrong. Hostess, and I use the term lightly, seemed to think they did nothing wrong. She should be in a profession where she doesn't have to deal with the public. E

Love the new La Motta, Poke is awesome, luv the Coconut Shrimp. Friday nights are fun by boat.

The service was friendly but they were yelling at some, kicking them out when I got there, Wednesday night. After waiting for our table to be prepared, the waitress took 20 minutes before talking to us to see what we wanted to drink. The drinks were good and the food came out quickly. Very good food, small appetizer portions but the dinners were large and prepared well. For the prices and quality of food the waiting staff needs to work on thier professionalism. Overall it was a good experience.

Food was meh, service was meh, and atmosphere was meh. Prices were too high for meh. I think it has potential b/c of the location, but it seems tired and mediocre.
