We just came all the way from Miami since they dont answer the phone, they are very rude. We came all the way here just to hear that they receive the papers two weeks ago and didnt do what they where supposed to do.
Horrible !!! Insensitivity towards the elderly and mentally handicapped and isn't wheelchair accessible. I watched in horror as my friend requested to kindly transfer to another apartment because of the condition of the unit. He was promptly told you must elderly and disabled. He is a mentally handicapped gentleman ,age 54. He receives a monthly disability check. When he told me the property manager "Vanessa" he is disabled. She said abruptly and rudely NO and walked away.
It is unfortunate that many people have to go through such a nightmare and days of tears and anguish because these people who work in this place do not have a professional ethic, since to have a recidency through them the process is extremely tedious and they take time much in everything; one does all the steps they ask for nothing and it has no regard for low-income people.
my experience with them for a home inspection the process has taken me more than a month when everything is up to date and to which I always explained that I am on the street with my daughter I have no family I arrived at this state alone with them, They have not cared anything when I have all my documents up to date, housin authoridad de lakeland has the worst process. I do not recommend them.
This is the most unorganized company. Granted, it is a government assistance program but out of all the section 8 counties I have worked with as a property manager, this is by-far the worst!!!!
This is the worst place i have ever worked at. The supervisor Vanessa C. Johnson does not do her job correctly and is ignorant with a nasty attitude. She will tell a worker one thing but a different thing the next day then get mad at the person she told for listening.The maintenance man Alvin Evans is lazy and does not do his job. He is also a liar and a shady backstabber and lets people do his work for him. I would not advise anyone to work there.
Never answer phones and when they do call back do not do as asked on several occasions now while they were to send me change report and transport so had to renew a whole other yr when I told them numerous times and they said they did couldn't get anyone to answer phones or do what they said they would and frankly over it.
The worst section 8 in the all United state all the staff are very unprofessional and disrespectful I waited for 1 month and 2 week for my income change and i still waiting for alondra baez fix that the receptionist have very bad attitude with the people and I really wanna know how get in contact with someone more bigger of the Lakeland housing authority because they need to fix this problem with this staff they need new managers supervisors and case worker all then are incompetent and unprofessional.
Being responsible with this agency is uphill, I am going to report that the income has changed and I cannot be served, papers to fill out, we are in a Covid-19 pandemic, that is understood, but without Covid-19 it is the same ...
I totally get why they have an average 2 Star status! These people are the absolute rudest people I have ever had to deal with ever. I have had to correspond with them on a professional level and I am shocked at how they communicate with customers. There should be more monitoring of these employees and their qualifications. If you plan to work with people on a daily basis for a career you should have a pleasant tone and be friendly. I am very disappointed with my interactions with this facility.
I've left message after message. Fast forward a month and no one has returned my call. My father is already on section 8 and needs to relocate because of health issues. His worker Sherily Simmons apparently doesn't know how to return phones calls. It's obviously they could care less and just collect a paycheck.
I don't know what happens here but when you want to speak to someone in Spanish the secretary always says that there is no one and when you stay waiting they pass you by the front leaving the offices staff who speak Spanish like 4 or 5 people and you have to fight them so they can help you with at least one simple question
Was the most rudest places i ever been in life trying to get a family that was homeless some help the lady was so rude and disrespectful just a waste of time.... higher management needs to step in this is ridiculous on so many levels
The staff seemed very rude they seemed to want to rush everyone without giving clear answers or true assistance. That may be due to lack of people skills or short staffed but definitely rude.
Whoever picked up the phone, had the worse attitude. Aside from that she was very sarcastic and would not give clear answers also rushing, saying she does not have time for this and hanged up. If you don t like your job, find another one.
This is for people like myself. I PORTED in from Pa. First thing the pictures of the housing authority is false!!! The place is a dump!!!! There are allowed to post pictures of apt and houses that don't exist!! They will take months before you get a foot in the door. They are cruel. The phone line is busy all the time. Lakeland is a dump. Run Run Run. Apparently, section 8 varies from state to state. The houses are in the hood!! Plz don't go by the pictures that lady said they are 10 years old. Omg the places have roaches and trash literally in the front yard. Don't come here. You will regret it. It's like a small redneck town. I looked at the pictures online for Lakeland and thought this looks like a nice place. Not even the pictures to the housing authority is correct. It's totally different in person. Don't go to Lakeland housing authority. Trust me
They were full but they gave me information to find other places.
Beware, The management that was in charge from December 2019 to May 2020 are not reliable. I was suppose to get $744.00 back for a deposit on a 1 bed 1 bath apartment. I am now working with the new management and hope they can remedy this issue. I can't seem to get the old management to respond to me by email or by phone. This has been since May 31st when my grandson's lease was up. I have proof that all rent and utilities and deposit have been paid on time and even ahead of time. They need to come clean and give back what is owed to their tenants. Another note, we left the apartment clean and that is not how he moved in, we spent a whole day just cleaning to get it ready. Very disappointed that we were treated in this manner. I am hoping that different management does not do this to any one else. I did notice that when he moved in that was new management also. They seem to have a quick turnaround.
It's very hard getting through when you work however you have plenty of time especially when the case worker is giving you a deadline to get things done. I have sent emails and called, however I can't leave voicemail because voicemail is full and can't accept messages, I been emailing since last week and calling since yesterday.
They need to hire a new staff from supervisors all the way down to case workers. Katherine Cruz is a supervisor and she don't even return emails nor return calls. Alondrea Baez is very unorganized and unprofessional. No one answers the phone nor respond to emails. They need to hire whole new staff and fire the old ones
