Lake Toback Review

Great partner for a difficult time.

I can not say enough about how impressed I have been with Sean and the entire Lake Toback DiDomenico firm. They were great partners during a very difficult time (divorce is not easy) and got a great outcome. Not only are they amazing lawyers, they are a great support structure. I would recommend them over and over.

This firm overdelivered. They took on a very complicated case with an unwieldy, crafty and dirty playing foe. Sean Hamman handled the case with efficiency, calm, cold calculating facts and brilliant strategy. The firm won our case and made the process much less painless than it could have been. Highly recommend.

Do not waste you money. One of the worst and most corrupted lawyers in Chicago. Really bad experience.
All talk and no action. Delays your case as much as possible to over bill you. When asked questions Alan does not give straight answers and tries to keep you in the dark, very misleading.

Most of the calls and emails were simply ignored and you get responses from his secretary. Finally, during a conference calls Mr. Toback does not remember your case or what was discussed previously.

It looked like he was totally detached from the case, so you have to repeat everything again and, of course, every time they charge you for the time. Its like a tactic to bill you more.

Documents were provided to them multiple times and later they asked for the same documents again. They mislead you with the billing and do not provide invoices, and when you requested them you find out they were charging for the services they never did.

In summary, I spend over $12k in less than two months and nothing got done. Very unprofessional.

Do your due diligence and hire another firm more ethical for much less money. It was a huge $12k mistake to hire Lake Toback DiDomenico, they just wanted my money and didn't care about the case at all.

My child is the most important person in my life, and I had been in a highly contested divorce proceeding against my lawyer wife for three years when Lake Toback Di Domenico agreed to take my case. They listened to me, helped me set realistic expectations, and created a strategy that allowed me the time I need with my daughter to be a full time dad, while allowing me to keep my financial freedom. Choosing a lawyer to represent you during a life changing event is a stressful decision, and although Lake Toback DiDomenico was not my first choice when I began my litigation, they proved to be my best choice by far when it came down to being treated honestly and working toward the results I needed to go forward with my life. I went through a very difficult divorce case. I started working with Lake Toback DiDomenico (and soon Hamann) on an appeal to the main case. They did an exceptional job with the appeal and were very professional to work with. Later when my counsel on the main case quit three weeks before the trial was scheduled to begin, I hired them to represent the main case. Again I was very pleased with both the work product and service. I only wish I had hired them originally in the case -- it would have saved a lot of money and emotional toll!

I would like to say, Alexandra Perraud is the best! Lawyer to have in your corner when you find yourself going through a divorce. Alexandra will fight for your rights that you deserve when going through the most painful time in your life like divorce.

My wife and I had a very difficult child custody case. All my attorney friends told me it was a super long shot before we started the process. Steve Lake and Alan Toback did a phenomenal job. They were creative, diligent and responsive throughout the whole process. They were available off hours, weekends, during the holidays. Their effort was incredible. Absolutely terrible experience. I worked with Alan J. Toback. When asked questions Alan does not give straight answers and tries to keep you in the dark, very misleading. I provided them multiple documents and later they asked for the same documents again. They did not provide invoices, and when I requested them - I found they were charging for the services they never did (emailed me made up invoices). The list goes on and on.
This firm charged me a good amount of money and did very basic things like filing a couple of motions. Very unprofessional.
I hired another firm and for much less money I saw a great progress. It was a big mistake to hire Lake Toback DiDomenico, they just wanted my money and didn't care about the case at all.
