The restaurant is positioned just off the high street where finding somewhere to park is a challenge even though there is a small car park opposite. The entrance to the restaurant is very welcoming although I saw one or two of the patrons smoking besides the front door. There is waiting area with sofas if you want to have a drink before going to your table. The decor is very minimalistic with exposed brickwork.
The meal itself was reasonable value for money considering that it is mentioned in the Michelin Guide. In my humble opinion worth a visit

Went for my father's birthday, had their version of Sunday lunch, right from starters to desert and then floater coffee with their home made sweets was truly amazing. You have to go if you love the flavour of food.

Visited La Rock for an anniversary following a couple of recommendations - lived up to the promise and we had a wonderful meal and evening.

Sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere.

Friendly, very attentive and highly knowledgable staff who talked you through every component of the dishes.

Very high end, creative, fine dining menu full of interesting, innovative dishes and unexpected ingredients and combinations.

Towards the top end of restaurant prices in nottingham but well worth it - would say this is probably the best dining experience we've had in nottingham.

Highly recommended for special occasions and food lovers!

I always love this place it is the perfect setting for a special occasion meal and the food is simply outstanding. The staff are attentive without being overbearing. Love amuse-bouche they serve, such a nice touch. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Visited as a celebration of a few things recently. Lovely venue. Beautifully clean, presentation and atmosphere. Food exquisite especially the amouse buche! We enjoyed mocktails and they have an extensive non alcoholic menu. Overall some of the best food we have eaten- the goats cheese and quince starter was phenomenal and my other half loved the cremue. Would certainly return for special occasion but overall good value.

Outstanding restaurant or course, being so well awarded. Great for the occasion of a romantic meal for 2. Very happy for my wife and I Anniversary. Highly recommended for a evening to be remembered.

Please do not go here if your a parent. Don t dare have a night off or a last minute hey lets go for dinner

We were unable to go due to having a baby. A sleeping baby. A 18 week old baby that doesnt make a peep.

The discrimination is remarkable. If my child went on a mad screaming fest of course I would have been understanding of going to another room or outside to calm her down. But she never does.

I will NEVER recommend to any parent. To anyone with children of any age.

Thank you for allowing us parents to know we are not welcome in your eyes. I ll wait till my daughter is 18 and out the house before I think of going to dinner again.

Pathetic

Looking for somewhere fairly local for a special meal. We had heard of La Rock and thought to give it a try. So glad we did. The staff were friendly but professional. The food looked and tasted amazing. More expensive than our usual nights out but field a special occasion well worth it. Will definitely return.

We booked a lunchtime table for a belated birthday celebration for my wife. The food was very, very good - indeed it was probably one of the tastiest meals we have had. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Would certainly recomend.

From the moment you step through the door the staff make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Never been there before but will definitely be going back. Would rate it as one of the finest restaurants in Nottinghamshire.

Service from start to finish was excellent, made a cocktail not on the menu for me. Food was prompt if anything a little too fast.food was very good as was the presentation. I will certainly return.

We had an excellent experience here on a busy night. I joined 7 family members for an evening meal while I was visiting from New Zealand. Great service, lovely varied and creative dishes. This is highly recommended for a great foodie meal, great service and lovely drink.

The Food was good

The waitresses were friendly, polite and helpful

Unfortunately our whole experience was ruined by the Front Of House/Restaurant Manager Daiva coming over and asking our 18 month old son directly to keep the noise down first, then on a second occasion she anxiously asked me if I could keep him quiet as there were other guests and we weren t expecting him!. What difference expecting him would have made I don t know!?

1) I e-mailed the restaurant before visiting in April to inquire about my son and was told that children were allowed at the 12:00 hours sitting, based on this I booked at 12:30 hours

2) I understand that our little darling is not everyone s little darling, so we were conscious of noise for other guests

3) Noise coming from my son was intermittent and the noise was reasonable noise.

4) Other guests were interacting with my son and were not complaining about him to staff or to us as his parents

5) I felt we were dealt with like we were tumultuous, lacked etiquette and empathy towards fellow dinners

6) We left early (skipped Tea/coffee) as we felt embarrassed, awkward, anxious and tense. We didn t argue as we didn t want to cause a scene and fit into a stereo-type that might have been
preconceived by her.

Recommendation

It s probably best that the restaurant doesn t allow children at any time, if the reaction from the Front Of House/Restaurant Manager is as above.

Keeping a high chair where it was not immediately accessible (in the vacuum cleaning cupboard) was a bit of a clue initially that the restaurant wasn t child friendly

Best restaurant in nottingham in terms of service and food quality.
Been here on multiple occasions and happy each time. My mother has diet restrictions wich makes menu choices very limited, the chef has come up with something off menu and origional each time. With great results.
Highly reccomended.

Visited with a party of 4 for the Christmas menu in December. We have all been a few times before, and knew what to expect, The food certainly lived up to its expectations - delicious, inventive, presented beautifully, good portion sizes for a tasting menu and really could not be faulted. So based on the food alone, 5/5!

The reason for my 3 stars out of 5 is the staff. La Rock seems to have hired a lot of young girls recently which isn't bad in itself but it is bad when the staff have no finesse, no personality, tell you what each course is in parrot fashion like they've memorised it from a book with no emotion, when they don't smile, and when they stand in a group around the bar chatting. It made the restaurant feel more Pizza Hut than a high end restaurant which is reaching (no doubt) for its first Michelin Star.

I visited Sat Bains in November and the service between the two restaurant is worlds apart. La Rock please take note - hire some experienced mature staff who have personalities. You can't rely on good food alone.

Visited here on a Saturday night our wedding anniversary treat, lovely welcome served cocktails...wrong starters served and to the table opposite, food good but hmm not amazing, we opted to share the cheese board this was not room temperature quite chilled, different cheeses were not explained to us, but the table next to us had a full explanation of flavours etc. Had to wait a long time for the bill and as we waited for our taxi we felt a little uncomfortable in the foyer,

Wow! Wasn't sure what to expect, a late Christmas treat for two, but the food was out of this world. And all the little extras, such a surprise but delicious from start to finish. Hope to go again soon

Delicious taster menu which recreated some classic dishes such as surf and turf and a cheese board in an innovative way. For example our surf and turf was a beef fillet served in an oyster shell topped with a cooked oyster.

Yet another excellent meal at LaRock.

Yet another excellent meal at LaRock.
Actually no, I'll correct that because just saying "nice meal" doesn't even remotely do it justice, i think "dining experience" describes it better because the level of service and attention to detail from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave is exemplary, It's not just the food that sets this place apart, the whole experience is on another level.

Great dinner with La Rock. Excellent food and great service. Who knew soy sauce and blackberries made such s great pairing? Had the best cut of venison ever, and will now be disappointed at all future restaurants.
