About La observatoria
La Observatoria: Empowering Women through Feminist Journalism and Communication
La Observatoria is a collective of feminist journalists and communicators who are dedicated to promoting gender equality, women's rights, and social justice through their work. Founded in 2015, the organization has quickly become a leading voice in the Latin American media landscape, providing critical analysis and commentary on issues that affect women's lives.
At La Observatoria, we believe that journalism can be a powerful tool for social change. By shining a light on the experiences of marginalized communities and amplifying their voices, we can challenge dominant narratives and create more inclusive societies. Our team of experienced writers, editors, photographers, and videographers are committed to producing high-quality content that is both informative and engaging.
One of our core values at La Observatoria is intersectionality. We recognize that gender inequality cannot be understood in isolation from other forms of oppression such as racism, classism, ableism or homophobia. Therefore our work reflects an intersectional approach to feminism which acknowledges the diversity within women’s experiences.
Our content covers a wide range of topics including politics; human rights; health; culture; environment; economy among others with an emphasis on how these issues impact women differently than men due to gender inequalities. We also provide coverage on feminist movements across Latin America as well as interviews with activists who are working towards creating more equitable societies.
In addition to producing original content for our website (www.laobservatoriacr.org), we also collaborate with other media outlets across Latin America to amplify our message further. Our articles have been published by various regional newspapers such as El País de Uruguay or El Espectador de Colombia among others.
We also offer training programs for young journalists interested in learning about feminist journalism practices which includes workshops on topics such as digital storytelling techniques or ethical reporting practices when covering sensitive issues like sexual violence against women.
At La Observatoria we believe that everyone has a role to play in creating a more just and equitable world. We invite you to join us in our mission by reading, sharing, and engaging with our content. Together we can build a better future for all women.
