Didn't see many fish--no sharks, was a rush tour and guides didn't wait for the ones taking their time when speaking to the group. Just rent a kayak and go out on your own, its cheaper and more enjoyable

My wife and I called the evening before and they were able to work to get us on a tour that fit our schedule. The weather wasn't great so the swells were too big to go to the caves but the two guides (Cameron and Luke) worked hard to make sure we enjoyed ourselves by sharing info about the nearby homes, cliffs and geology, and sea life. We had a great time and are glad we chose La Jolla Kayak!

Cameron and Eric (hopefully spelled correctly) were awesome guides. Super knowledgeable about the area and the ocean, their stories as we went through the waves were top notch. These guys were clearly a league above the others that we saw out on a pretty choppy day in the water. I would highly recommend this company!

It was absolutely great. The tide was low so we were able to get into the caves. We also got to see fishes, leopard sharks, and seals on our tour. Our tour guide Sam fed us with great fun history about La Jolla. The crew at the front desk and Sam were extremely friendly and they made the experience the best! Would definitely recommend this spot

Very poor experience. We wanted to kayak without the tour which evidently means they take our money and give us absolutely no help. No one met us on the beach, we stood there for 10 minutes no getting helped while the other kayak places had plenty of help for those who simply wanted to rent with no tour. There are many kayak places on this strip, I d suggest going to another one.

We went on the lepoard shark snorkeling excursion. It was amazing. They called us prior to our tour to say that the place they normally take people wasn't a great place today and asked if we would mind going to a different spot. We didn't see any sharks, but we saw fish and the sea lions even jumped into the water to play. Our tour guides Avery and Kennedy were amazing. Tons of fun to be around. From the time we arrived to the time we left we had nothing but the best experience. Would do this tour again and would bring our seven year old.

Great trip! Got out early before the big crwds (and there will be big crowds as you return to the beach). Two guides were awesome, kept the whole groups' skill range in mind, got to swim into the cave in amall groups becauSE of tide which was very cool. Tip your guides!

A fun thing to do if you are visiting San Diego. You get to and go out on a kayak tour to visit the caves in the La Jolla Cove with a group. The guide will tell silly jokes and give you some interesting history and stories. You'll see some seals and other wildlife along the way and get some good exercise too.

Had a great time. Guides were entertaining and informative. However we couldn't access the caves because of the tides and on an earlier phone call the person i spoke w had said we would be able to. So that was disappointing.

What a terrific day! It far exceeded our expectations. Our guides, Katie and Jack, were outstanding. Both were terrific and made the trip a real pleasure. We'll be back! If you're in the area, book a tour!!!

I went kayaking for the first time and I was stoked to be out there in the waters of La Jolla and being in nature. The instructor seemed chill at first but once we got to the beach, he did not really give much of instruction or care for my presence. I saw other instructors were giving step by step instructions and answering questions others had. The instructor asked if there was anything that he should know before going out in the water and I told him I was not a good swimmer. He said I'd be fine since I had a life vest on and I would not flip over and he'd help me if I did. I went out and unfortunately flipped over. I panicked and he was out in the water just looking my way without helping like he said he would. Thankfully, 2 other members of the kayak team came over and helped me out and reassured me that I was alright. That was my highlight. The amazing team that pulls you in and out of the water. They really look after you and that was the only positive thing I took from this experience. I wish there was more instruction from the 'instructor' and help before going into the water especially since I had mentioned it was my first time doing it. I hope others that go out there are better helped than I was and looked after as safety of the people they're instructing should be a priority.

Alex/Alec was a great your guide. The tour included lockers. Wear a bathing suit with a shirt because you will get wet. Water was clear. Felt safe the entire time with the tour guide. Unfortunately we could not go into the caves as the waves were a bit too violent. It was cool seeing Dr Seuss's house on the cove. Thanks for the great experience!

Our Guides Drew and Matt were very knowledgeable about both Kayaking and the local area making this experience A+. I would recomend La Jolla Kayak to anyone visiting the area. Inside the shop there is a restroom and also charging rooms. The staff we encounter were all extremely nice and helpful. Getting past the waves leaving and returning to the shore was a bit challenging but not nearly as hard as I thought it might be.

My wife is a swimmer at La Jolla Shores. She had a bad experience with this company's guide Lorenzo. She heard him say to his group "I'll give you extra bonus points if you hit this girl". He then pulled up close to her and said in a threatening and aggressive way "did you hear what I said?". We all need to share the ocean and there's no place for threatening behavior which is unprofessional and potentially dangerous. This was reported to the company and there was no response. This is totally irresponsible and deserves less than 1 star!

So much fun. This was my first time in La Jolla and it was a great experience. The tour guides were knowledgeable about the wildlife and very friendly. There's not much parking available in the immediate area so be sure to give yourself time to find parking, you may need to park in the residential area. Going in the summer was much more busy but there were tons of sea lions and fish and the water was very clear. I did the kayak/snorkel tour and it was great, I wish we were able to snorkel for longer but other than that it was a blast. I wouldn't recommend taking your kids on this adventure because it takes a lot of energy even for an adult. Will definitely be coming back!

My wife and I took her Dad for his birthday. The water was really cold and rough, but the guides were very accomodating and offered to take us into caves even if it wasn't the safest idea, if we were willing to assume all risk. We were willing, so the guide took us in, and it was an amazing experience! We saw dolphins, learned about mansions on the water, went in caves, and played games. I recommend this experience to all People visiting San Diego!

Great experience! Our tour guides Amir and John made us feel safe, let us rest at appropriate times and were very knowledgeable about the area and habitat. We were able to be up close to sea lions in the caves and watch Garibaldi fish as well as have the opportunity to snorkel. Fun day!

We booked for a Kayak with the sea caves and snorkeling, however due to the murky water we didn't get to snorkel. We wasn't offered any discount or pre warned this could be the case. We looked at the sea caves but didn't go anywhere near them. They should advise you on the phone you will not receive the full tour. Our tour guide was lovely, but overall it was quite boring and there was a lack of kayaking, we mainly sat in the bay in the kayak listening to the tour guide. Disappointed and I don't feel like we got our moneys worth.

Good tour, however it's a lot of rowing and a lot less viewing of things than I thought it would be. Luke was knowledgeable of the rocks and area, and the scenery is beautiful, but I wish there was maybe just a little bit more to the tour part.

Awesome experience. We did the 5:20 sunset tour and had Avery and Nico as our guides and they were great. Very helpful and informative. It was awesome to learn about the wildlife in the area and also some history about the houses along the shore. The sunset was beautiful as we kayaked back to shore. I highly recommend it.

My sister and I had been planning this trip to La Jolla for months. We keep asking ourselves why we keep doing stuff like this when we are terrified! We decided our sense of adventure is stronger than our sense fear. The ocean was much more choppy than my first two times kayaking but scared as I was I went for it. I love the history of prohibition, Dr.Seuss and all the other fun facts we learned from our guides. The tide was too rough to enter the caves but I'm glad they take our safety seriously. I will always choose La Jolla kayak as long as they continue to deliver excellent ocean excursions.

Great place to rent. I got a kayak and i thought their prices were very competitive compared to other local companies.

The staff was very friendly and attentive, both in the shop and on the beach.

Their equipment was also in good shape.

Quick note...If someone tells you that you will not get wet kayaking, they lied. The beach staff was very up front that you should expect to get soaked and i did get soaked.

Amazing tour, guides were Matt and Shawn. Had a great time, learned about the cliffs, coves, seals, alcohol stashes, and shopping carts :D

10/10 would supply 80% of San Diego's prohibition age alcohol under a million dollar beach house that'll fall in the ocean in 100 years again

We had a blast! I would definitely recommend a kayak tour with them. Smaller groups than the Oex kayaks which means the guides interact more with you and they really spend their time explaining the history and nature of the Cove. Ask for Matt and Max!

Nice place and cool staff. They price-matched a neighboring store's coupon. The experience was great. I think most people would be able to break the surf to enjoy the kayaking experience, but the first few minutes will be rough getting out to the calm water.

Great place to rent a Kayak. I got there 10 mins early and the staff was friendly and supportive. They loaded my kayak and took it out to the beach right away. Perfect weather and good ride for beginners-experienced kayakers. Really easy to book online I would highly suggest doing it. Will definitely be going back within the coming weeks!

Our tour guide Matt was awesome. He was informative and entertaining! We got to spend some decent time at the cove and he even took us into one of the caves so swim with sea lions. The kayaking and snorkeling trip is your best bet! It's 3 hours that flies by. Weather was beautiful, visibility was average on this day but still, sealing the sea lions so up close was an experience.

can't control mother nature but they will not tell you if the surf is too high to go into the caves. we spent a lot of money for a family of 4 on an incredibly boring tour of bobbing in the ocean listening to the guides talk about real estate. the waves were so choppy, half of my family got seasick. not their fault, but there was nowhere to go and nothing to do, it was not a tour, just a float and bad tourist facts. if you inquire about the caves, they will talk down the caves "you only go in there for a minute" though you paid for the "Original Kayak Cave Tour" two stars because the staff is nice and young, and probably just doing what they are told.

I booked a tour for my Birthday. It was me and 17 people, so a big group. Everyone and LA Jolla Kayak was so friendly and accommodating! We were driving from LA and had to drop off my dog before checking in, but we were running out of time because traffic kept picking up. But the staff at La Jolla Kayak graciously offered to watch my dog for me while my friends and I went kayaking, so we made it in time!! Justin and Taylor were our guides and were so amazing! Not only Did they give a great tour, but cracked jokes and really made sure my friends and I had a great time. They were professionally trained and made my friends who were new to kayaking feel safe. The best moment was when Justin made the effort to gather everyone around in their Kayaks and sing happy birthday to me! :) Truly an unforgettable moment!!! I can't thank La Jolla Kayak enough for being so accommodating and really making my Birthday feel so special!! After so much planning and stressing I am 100% happy!! Trip was a success! :)
