To bounce back on the case of our daughter and the response provided by the school, here is some additional information.
We notified the Nantes School of Design upon admission to the Boulle school in mid-June, well before the bac results.
It was not a late withdrawal and the School of Design had the entire post-bac period to allocate its place to any other candidate registered on the waiting list.
In the end, his place probably found a taker quickly, and the school kept the 1,500 paid as a "bonus".
Not very classy as a process ...

During the entry competition, the school puts pressure on admitted students to pay 1/4 of the school year, or 1,500, to reserve a place. This request obviously comes largely before the publication of the APB results.
Some competing schools do this but offer reimbursement of costs if the candidate does not come because he obtained his first choice APB or if he is admitted to a public school offering a specialty not existing in the school.
The design school does not reimburse at all and therefore makes money on the backs of the candidates while the promotions are not yet filled at the start of the school year! Warning !!

The D2M / D3M license (bac + 3) is obsolete. It no longer offers prospects of integration into the labor market because the level of qualifications at the exit is no longer in line with the demand of companies, the latter preferring to continue with freelancers or more qualified trainees from other schools. D2M: apart from a few "mold box packaging" startups (where a professional bin is more than enough) or the "phone call to a friend" solution, don't expect to find work. D3M: you can claim a position as a catia / solidworks designer, exactly as when you left your BTS CPI (or packaging if you were already there before entering).

An end-of-study project deemed "sexy for a startup launch" without any real relevant feedback, IUT professors who take the non-technical profiles for bozos specializing in coloring studies, sgm professors who try to teach 15-year-old design methods and "tutorials" in a workshop closer to the daycare than an initiation into learning a trade. And only one perspective of evolution: a master of design in which you find yourself doing UX / UI because the design produced in France is dead, but that you realize when you land a pole job for you reorient
