Animals are kept in incredibly small enclosures (eg. tigers, lions, pumas, hippo etc.) Animals do not receive enough space to roam around and some enclosures are obviously not well maintained. Price is relatively cheap but nothing much to do there. Would not want to see this torture of the animals again :(

Amazing zoo which I highly suggest going to if you are in the Kyoto area. A ten minute walk from the train station and almost parallel with the local shrine (which is also a must see) it is easy to get to and well marked. Lots of animals that you may not have seen before along with some big animals too! Bit sad to see some animals like the lion and tigers in such small enclosures but my knowledge on that is little.

The coin parking nearby is cheap, but it is small and the space battle is amazing.
