The cherry blossoms were in full bloom when I went to the end of March. There was a stamp rally and I got a postcard when I went around 7 places.

How bad is the stall with bad manners in front of the zoo?
I can't allow them to be stationed there, but above all, everyone can smoke in a place that looks good even though there are many children...
I regret to say that these people do not go to the Kyoto City Zoo.
Please improve rather than ask.
It's a shame in Kyoto.
We can attend the walk accompanied by the animals and sometimes their meal, the Red Panda loves the apple and fig given delicately by the healer. Beautiful photo !
It has been renewed, and has been devised to allow animals to be seen nearby. A family, a date, a leisurely one ... all are fun.
Super cute zoo. Great for families or a date. Lots of big animals as well as little critters like frogs & birds. Well organized and not smelly like many other zoos.
It's a local zoo like anywhere in the prefecture, for families with small children.
The ferris wheel was so small and it tasted good again! I was so happy that there were creatures that couldn't be seen anywhere else, such as the Yabu Dog, and squirrel animals, which were so cute and immovable at all. It is also good to make cages that make animals easier to see. The lion was too old to bear to see. Skinny ...
It was renewed, it became clean and there were more people, but I liked the old-fashioned feeling.
In the old-fashioned zoo times before rebuilding, the distance to the animals is close, so many people than Tennoji zoo etc. There are few people so I went well!
The surroundings have been crowded with Asian foreigners in recent years, some of whom have bad behavior, but they do not seem interested in the zoo, and the garden is a traditional customer base like the family!
Even after renewal, it is devised to make it easier to watch, so elephants and giraffes do not have any difficulties to watch, even if they become full in the high season. The gorilla can also be staggering close by the glass.
Cherry blossoms of hydrophobic are the best in spring. The parking lot is expensive, but since there are many sights in this area, I think that it is good to visit here while walking while sightseeing in Kyoto.
Tennoji Zoo or Kyoto is better than Kyoto City Zoo rather than an aquarium!
It is a zoo that I often go to from old days.
It's cheap and clean, and children are happy and happy, so I want to go again when the new Corona settles down.
I can slowly. On weekdays (Okay on Saturdays), you can use the nearby municipal underground parking lot for 1300 yen all day long.
It's a good place to take a walk with your children.
It has improved considerably from the past and it is becoming a very good zoo. It is recommended to go with family.
It is a small zoo. I think it is a zoo suitable for going with a small child like a kindergarten. There is an impression that is crowded with children on excursions on weekdays.
Heian Jingu Shrine and temples are located near the hydrophobic area and the surrounding area is a tourist destination, so it is impossible to stop by after that, but the audience is too different.
It is a little neck that access is not good. There is no way but to come by bus. There is no attached parking lot and there is little coin parking nearby, so it is not recommended to come by car. On weekdays, it may be possible to stop it early if it is early.
It was renovated and it became beautiful. It is cheap and enjoyable without change.
great zoo for kids. you can eat buffet lunch at the restarant in the second floor. get ready with your translate app.
It was very beautiful as a zoo, it was nice
Meals and souvenirs inside were also very delicious
Great after renewal
The food at the shop is like this.
I will bring it in the future if possible
The facility design is a little bit different from the conventional zoo, and it is good for families with small children and for dating (# ^. ^ #). Probably the comfort of a zoo, which is small, but also attractive. The cityscape of the location is also sophisticated.
It is good place to go with your kids in particular. If you're gonna stay in Kyoto for couple of month and gonna visit Zoo more than 4times, it's better to purchase the annual pass with unlimited entries for an year.
When I visited for the first time in a few years, it was renewed very beautifully!
Although there are various restrictions due to the influence of the corona, you can still enjoy it enough.
There was a small amusement park inside, and my son was flirting. Many of the staff are elderly, but they were friendly and impressed.
As an aside, the french fries here were very delicious.
The potatoes are fried together with the skin and slightly salted, so it's a gentle seasoning, so it was good for children!
# Gorilla's # Baby is born # It is open to the public
There is a spectacle and children are delighted! There was also a sense of cleanliness.
Lovely place to visit with your children. The zoo buffet on the 2nd floor of the main entrance building is also good!
The entrance is stylish. Let's come to Hagi, which was too hot to enter!
It is a place in my heart that I have been brought up with my grandma as a child. I am an excellent place to treat people regardless of how many animals it is. It is a good place. I have 31 burns this year so I go once a year I will do it!
The renewal made it easier to appreciate the behavior of animals.
Nanzenji Temple, Heian Jingu Shrine, and Lake Biwa Susui are located nearby, and they are located in the Okazaki area where cherry blossoms are beautiful in spring and autumn leaves are beautiful in autumn.
Kyoto zoo is fairly small, but has a good assortment of animals and would be best for kids. My main issue with the zoo is it's care and enclosures. Unlike say, Ueno Zoo, the enclosures are not modern at all and seem somewhat poorly maintained. A number of the animals also seemed to be in questionable health as well.. not necessarily sick but underweight and stressed. Many of the enclosure lack adequate cover for the animals and some of the things that were being fed seemed questionable to me as well. I am not an animal husbandry expert, this is just my opinion based upon experience working with zoos, pet shops, etc. That being said, it is not a bad zoo and the 600yen cover charge is quite reasinable. Definitely worth a look if you enjoy animals.
An old zoo in Kyoto. Since the exhibition contents such as places and animals have been renewed several times, memories of all ages are different.
Animals are all looking well kept and cared for. I love Zoo s in general but always think animals belong to their natural habitat and not in cages for viewing.
I took my grandson. In social distance, I could only see it a little farther than usual, but my two-year-old grandson was happy.
I can't say much because it's a spoiler, but there are animals.
You can watch it in just about 2 hours, which is just right to go around
There are no restrictions on admission, there is no temperature measurement, there is no distance between people, and there is no description on the elevator, so I was surprised that many people came on board normally.
Animals are protected from infection ...
Somehow ... I won't tell you the loss
I had to do some preliminary research.
Everyone is taking risks
I understand that it protects animals, but the important part is ...
Children can't be seen nearby
It was kind of pitiful.
I wondered how long I could keep a distance of 2m from the animals.
I heard that it was a zoo supervised by Kyoto University, but I wasn't sure which area had the taste of Kyoto University.
Lovely part of Kyoto. I would recommend you walk through Nanzenji Temple area (by the aqueduct) before or after visiting the zoo.
As far as zoos in the Kansai area I would rate this one better than Tennoji zoo but not as good as Kobe Oji zoo.
Incredible animals from all walks of life. Elephants, lions, red pandas, rare birds and foxes. There's a section for people to pet the animals as well. Well worth the visit for the entire family.
I went there for the first time, but I think it's a great place to go for a walk or a date course with children.
The Kyoto Zoo is said to have opened in 1903, making it the second oldest zoo in Japan. From the zone where you can interact with animals directly, you can divide into 6 zones, such as the world and the grasslands of Africa, and observe small to large animals. Among them, in "Gorilla House", you can see a rare gorilla studying using the touch panel. In addition, there are buffet restaurants and goods shops in the park, so you can learn the ecology of animals while resting slowly. There is also a small amusement park space for children, with little zoo-specific smell. Access by train: You can walk from Keage Station / Higashiyama Station (Tozai Line).
A small yet fulfilling historic zoo. There is a retro mini - amusement park that has not changed for decades. Entrance has been renewed and clean.
Without a doubt the last zoo in which we will set foot my girlfriend and me. The cages of the animals are tiny, they turn in circles aimlessly, looking sad and disoriented, revealing a mental health problem in animals.
We had never visited a zoo before, so we came out filled with sadness.
Nevertheless, the staff was smiling, the only nice moment was the space reserved for guinea pigs, adapted to their size and the social nature of these animals.
In itself, to avoid if one cares a little bit about animal welfare. We will not take it anymore.
Bright and beautiful atmosphere by renovation. Size that is just right for families with children. Ring-tailed lemur baby cute. I'm fine with the fish. You can see the mosquito or the crystal.
After he visited Heian Shrine, the animals were healed. Water, greenery and animals will welcome you. There is restaurant, too and can do slowly.
I can go for a walk with a lunch box feel free It's fun
If there is no place to go in Kyoto you can come here for a walk
It's changed a lot from the past, but it's pretty neat, but I'm a bit lonely.
There was no parking lot. It is a pity that there was a spot where the glass was dirty and hard to see. The animals were cute
I heard that European Oyama cat arriving for the first time in 27 years has arrived, so I will definitely go again.
The park is very clean and beautiful, with tigers, foxes and lions all close together. This alone is worth it.
It is compact and easy to see, is it famous for Tsushima wild cat and gorilla?
I thought that there were few people due to the influence of corona, but
There were many other than. It was enough to look around.
It is not so big, but the surrounding area is a good place to be stylish. After-sales may be good for young people!
Zoo is little small is feels little bit artificial. However, Considering the varieties of animals and things to do for kids it s worth visiting!!
It is also nice weather so beautiful, there are plentiful animals and it is the best Please go.
I am relaxed.
A small but beautiful animal.
It's been a long time since the zoo was so long (laughs)
The park is beautiful and has plenty of rest space.
It feels kind to a family with children.
The hippo was so cute.
It was very beautiful and the animals were easy to see. It was bright, and I thought it was wonderful that the device was finely crafted and the attention to detail was great.
I want to visit again.
It was renewed, small, neat, compact and barrier-free. There is a feeling of cleanliness and there is a deck so that the animals can be seen easily.
On display are about 120 kinds of 550 animals, and the concept of [near and fun] is a major renewal in 2015. It will be very popular if you can feel the animals closer than ever !! It is one of the spots.
It was originally opened in 1903 and is the second oldest after Ueno Zoo, and it is the oldest zoo in Kansai, created by the donations of Kyoto City and Kyoto citizens.
In the beast world, it is possible to see close enough to understand the pattern of the black jaguar, and the Amur tiger also has a device to double the fence over the glass, closer to the distance of 15 cm, smell of animals and feeling of breathing. You can create an aisle in the tiger house and observe the meat balls and stomach of the tiger at a different angle, and it's also a rare feature of the zoo, and it is the world's rare Nishigorilla. Momotarou, his son Gentaro, his mother's genki, and a 5-month-old baby Kintaro live in a family.
The only thing that keeps gorilla in Kansai is Kyoto City Zoo, which is the same end as the west end of the gorilla, thanks to the ceiling [rope] where gorilla hangs on the ground, you can see the gorilla's lively figure You
Kyoto City Zoo cooperates with Kyoto University and focuses on the breeding of gorilla. In 1945, it succeeded in the first breeding in the country, and now it succeeds in three generations breeding. Unlike when I was a child, I had to show adult mating and look at parenting, and I still do not know how to mate or how to grow. Show a video of mating, etc. Visually learn by showing a video of where you are raising a child, aiming to reproduce the gorilla that has become a rare animal worldwide. At the same zoo, we continue research on the gorilla ecology day and night. # Zoo
A small zoo but well laid out and a reasonable admission.
It was a small zoo, but I thought it was well managed
Many longevity animals!
Occasionally I see an elephant that looks lonely with just one, but there are five here and it doesn't look lonely.
There is also a cafe
I was able to look around slowly
Junior high school students and below are free
There are stalls such as restaurant and place where you can sit at the entrance after
There is also contact
Great time with kids, nice variety, cool crying monkeys.
Sometimes you can play well.
Entrance fee friendly to children, old people
I am grateful for the children and the Keiro Pass of Kyoto City.
The zoo in Kyoto has always been a place of good old memories
I think that going to Kyoto with children and going as the child gets bored with the temple shrine.
With a few hours, you can all go around.
It's a small zoo, but there's no pressure, so it's compact and perfect for children. There was a basic animal, and now the gorilla is giving birth to a baby. If you park in the nearby Okazaki Park parking lot, you can access to Heian Jingu Shrine, Nanzenji Temple, etc. on foot.
At that time, a small child was very happy to enter the cool store. It was summer, so the cooler was working and it was very helpful. I ate at the cafeteria in the zoo for lunch.
It becomes more beautiful than before and you can slowly come into contact with animals.
Families and couples can enjoy it alone. I was so. Lol
The lawn is also beautifully maintained and looks like a beautiful park.
There is also a simple tent where you can eat lunch and take a break in the shade. In the summer, there is a space where you can play in the water for a limited time.
The number of animals has decreased compared to when they came before
Really fun zoo and a great price. Very family friendly, smells way better than zoos usually do. Animals are obviously taken care of really well and aren't too shy of humans. Highly recommend as a family outing or a date.
* There is an English translation after Japanese. Sorry for not being native Japanese. English translation following Japanese.I apologize for the non-native Japanese. *
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, but did not meet my expectations for a "good zoo", especially when it was developed sufficiently economically to provide the necessary improvements and good service A Japanese zoo with social expectations.
Certainly the animals were varied and the facilities seemed to be properly cleaned. However, the animals are almost too small in cages and the wild exhibits are not good. The statue display is like a prison, and the monkey display is like a medieval torture room. Neither appears to have been updated for decades.
As others have said, animals are not easy. It moves back and forth in a single pattern, and runs around in a circle. If you don't do that, you'll sleep and you won't look happy or well. I was surprised and surprised by the lack of plants and other green and natural objects. There were tremendous numbers of cement and metal, and in many cages there was only "natural" material along with even plants.
The zoo seems to forget that animals have their own specific needs and their habitats in the wild, and that they live in cages that resemble or move closer. Apart from the exhibit itself, the entire zoo looked rather tasty and poor quality. There was enough information about most animals, but there weren't many interactive activities that customers could take part in.
Overall, to be honest, I think the quality of the items sold at the gift shop was better than the quality of the animal exhibits. This should never be said about animals.
This is a municipal zoo, and we know it may be difficult to get the capital needed to make the change, but it is necessary. I think the Detroit Zoo in the United States and the Maruyama Zoo in Sapporo are examples of good zoos that can mimic this zoo.
Overall the experience was decently enjoyable, but it did not live up to my expectations of a good zoo, especially in Japan, which is economically developed enough to make the necessary improvements to places like these, and where there is also a societal expectation of giving high quality service.
They did have a variety of animals, and the facility was clean. However, the animals are mostly in cages which are too small, and the exhibits that are out in the open are not good either. The elephant exhibit looks like a prison, and the monkey exhibit looks like a medieval torture chamber, neither of which seem to have been updated in decades.
As people have pointed out before, the animals do not seem comfortable: many of them pace back and forth in repetitive motions or run around in circles; otherwise, they lay around and they do not seem happy or lively.
I was also concerned and surprised at the lack of plants and other green or natural items. There is an alarming amount of cement, metal, etc. with the only "natural" substance being dirt in many cages, with the occasional plant.
It seems the zoo is just keeping these animals in cages that are all very similar, and forgetting that in the wild, each one of them has their own specific needs and their own habitat.Other than the exhibits themselves, the whole zoo seemed rather bland and low-quality.There was decent information given about most animals but there were not many interactive activities for visitors to participate in.
Overall, I honestly think that the quality of the products in the gift shop was higher than the quality of the animal exhibits. This should not be able to be said of a zoo.
I understand that this is a city zoo, and it may be hard to acquire the funds necessary to make changes, but nevertheless they are necessary.I think that the Detroit Zoo in America and the Maruyama Zoo in Sapporo are examples of good zoos that this zoo can imitate.
There are many chairs and tables, so it is a good place to eat lunch.
Kyoto is hot from early summer to early autumn, so it is recommended to visit when the weather is good. The park is beautiful, and I enjoyed being a parent and child, having a date, making friends, and even an adult for more than half a day.
For the rest of the half-day, exploring the surrounding area is great. The surrounding area is a luxury residential area with lots of greenery and is quiet, making it a perfect place to take a walk while meditating. If you are tired, take a rest at the Tsutaya bookstore or a small cafe. Please try to find your favorite spot.
