Gourmet coffee. My favorite coffee. You definitely pay for it, and to be honest, could be because of that weird placebo effect they tested on wine aficionados, where they described their drink more favorably if they thought it was more expensive. Arguably, if tricking brain chemistry takes an extra buck, and I experience /phenomenal/ coffee for the expense : worth it!

Major fan of their white mocha coffee. We travel to Europe often and this is the closest thing to Costa Coffee or European cappuccinos. If you are having a bad day - go get this coffee, it will change your mood. We hope they will add the while mocha on their year round menu, it was a winter coffee - and it is gone now. Please bring it back!
My FAVORITE coffee shop in the Twin Cities! Comfy, friendly, and most importantly, their cappuccino is second to none. Smooth creamy tasty, this is my cappuccino standard.
Probably the best coffee I ve ever had. Very chill atmosphere. Alt music just loud enough to visit or jam out. Love it! No tips accepted because it s factored into the cost.
One of the best coffee shops in town, especially their Americano, Latte, and Valrhona mocha. The baristas are also very friendly. However, the beverages are a little bit overpriced (around $5-$9 each) although they mentioned that the prices have already included tax and gratuity.
Seriously the best coffee you will ever have, sustainably varying with the seasons. A tight community of friendly baristas absolutely expert in their field.
Kopplin's is one of my favorite coffeeshops in the US! They're known as a leader in 3rd wave coffeeshops and create some of the highest quality coffee drinks around. It's a family run business with a quaint atmosphere and perfect for getting stuff done at! Highly recommend Kopplin's to anyone.
I m not into the 2020 version of Cafe Nervosa. Kopplin s could use some adjustment to provide a more welcoming, inclusive environment. If you like feeling like an idiot while trying to order coffee, then this is your place.
Oh, blessed coffee! After failing to find good espresso anywhere in the Twin Cities, we found this amazing shop. Best espresso in the metro that I've ever had. Plus, it's right next door to ice cream and cupcakes! Thanks for existing!
Coffee was good, prices were steep but that's justifiable for a good bean. The barista in training was very pleasant. I ordered a depth charge and was told they would have to serve me the espresso on the side and I'd have to pour it in myself. I'm more than capable of doing so but confounded by why this is necessary. It's a weird extra step to getting coffee. Was so caught off guard that it may have colored my opinion of the place but certainly would pick another spot if in the same area again.
Nice place, can though busy. Get an espresso drink; my "drip brew" was not what I expected, but their espresso drinks appeared to be well crafted. I'll get a latte next time. Good bakery items!
Got a coffee there, and it was fine. A shade under five bucks for a small drip coffee, but that's what you get these days.
I asked if they had any cinnamon. "No, I don't."
I could understand "we just ran out", or calling back to a co-worker "hey, we got any cinnamon?" Or, God Forbid, "sure; here's your cinnamon". But the attitude of both employees just put me off.
I'm sure they've got regulars in a somewhat scant coffee landscape around St. Paul, but I'm happy to drive another mile for some decent customer service. Second time I've been there; won't be a third.
One of the best coffee places in town. Distinguished coffee such as cappuccino or trademark coffee drinks with elaborate ornamental decoration made of melted chocolate. Best in taste and aroma. Reminding of Italian small coffee shops. Atmosphere is urban techno decor with semi dark small space filled with cool dudes.
Great drinks; i had a bold, dark hot chocolate and a very delicate chai. Awesome, friendly employees who are paid a fair enough living wage that there's no tip jar (I asked about that). The absolute best coffee/tea making equipment both behind the bar and for sale as well.
Every time I walk into Kopplin's, my heart opens. The community is so joyous and happy to be there not to mention the detailed attention to quality coffee, local products, equitable business practices, and good taste. Thank you, Kopplin's!
Pros: -Great tasting coffee: their espresso is lit! -Friendly staff: they know people by name, and thank then for coming in! -Open space -Homey, cozy feel -Great community work and outreach: I didn't buy a community cup (a donation cup you buy for someone who can't afford their own) but I will next time! Great place! Come support your local coffee shop!
A cappuccino is a summons to delight, while a Fitbit is a one-way ticket to despair. I have been studying the various symptoms of those deeply engaged in the quantified self movement, and the most prevalent is a false sense of happiness, confidence, and overall well-being. Concerned that this was simply my personal bias rearing its head, I had a third party conduct focus groups, the results of which confirmed my findings: people who wear Fitbits, Apple Watches, or anything else that monitors every boring aspect of their lives look healthy and happy, but the effect is purely cosmetic, and, not surprisingly, ephemeral.
A cappuccino from Kopplin s will have a different effect. You will enter a state of receptive calm, almost presenting as melancholy, while deep down your spirit will soar, carrying you out of yourself toward a joy you thought was reserved for the mystics.
I will luckily have the new location right on my daily commute to work. On the way home then can stop in for Kopplins beans (and a pint of Izzy's from next door).
Amazing coffee, beautiful gift items to peruse and purchase. The people working there were so nice! Prices were a bit steep for me, but the quality and atmosphere is great!
Always top notch here. I worked food service management for 17+ years so I know a well run place when I see it. Been here many times, the results are high quality and consistent.
THE #1 coffee spot. Simply the best. Sets the standard. Prices are leveled up for living wages, high caliber, & include tip, AS IT SHOULD BE FOLKS. I m happy to be here.
Kopplin's brings fond memories for me whenever I return. During this visit the place wasn't packed and the barista convinced me to try something different. I had a maple latte and it was excellent. It's nice to sit at the small bar here with or without a computer. The space in the back has plenty of room for people to collaborate and converse. It's a very cozy place that never disappoints.
One of the trifecta of best espresso joints in the Twin Cities. This is the only one I've seen engagement photos taken at. Only one that I can get a continental bread butter jam plate.
I root for local coffee shops, and this one isn't one of them. Anyway, a five-star for their wonderful, very delicious iced maple coffee. They earned one-star for a 9oz. iced coffee full of ice for $6 in a disposable plastic wine cup and without a lid to-go. Though, everyone rated them 4 or 5 stars which beats my rating, which is fine, supposedly they work at high paid jobs like me but i will not go again.
I normally don't give low ratings but everything is severely mediocre for way too much money. Why would I every pay that much for some slices of sourdough with a little jam that's not even toasted? Toast at any other coffee shop would be like 3 bucks but I'm paying 2-3 times more for something that's slightly worse. Yall ain't good enough to be charging that much
First time to Kopplins on a Sunday evening, ordered a chai tea latte to go and it was extremely spicy with no pretty latte art although my sister's mocha latte did get a pretty heart design. Unlucky me. I'm Asian and practically eat spicy food on daily basis but this was not a "normal" chai tea latte. Probably will not return but the real reason for going there in the first place was because they offer bakery goods from Patisserie 46. My lips are still screaming.
Best quality ingredients and hyper level of detail into making a great coffee. Perhaps the most well crafted pour over I've had in Saint Paul. Space is cozy and has great art.
