Kohn Law Firm, S.C. Review

This law farm performs the grunt work for debt collection companies who purchase debts for pennies on the dollar. They attempt to scare folks into paying them by threatening garnishment and legal action. They do follow through on these threats, and like to tack on interest and attorney's fees to the total amount due. Basically they are the human equivalent to scum. They prey on those who are weak and look for ways to keep the poor people poor.

I've never met anyone who was excited about a debt collection. That being said, these folks did their job without making me feel like a complete waste of life (which many debt collectors excel at). They came up with a fair payment plan, so I can put this behind me as quickly and easily as possible.

When your fiscal irresponsibility finally knocks on your door, it's not gonna be all peaches and cream. Just get it done, drop the attitude and be an adult.

Beyond slimy, even for lawyers. Their client ended up getting double what they sued me for even though I had proof they were in the wrong and I shouldn't even have owed the money. Rude, inconsiderate, and slimy. They would call at 6pm the night before to inform me I had court the next day knowing I couldn't ask off work on such short notice. Just so they could get their payday. They don't play fair. All attorneys are slimy, but these guys are bottom of the barrel scum! Their parents have to be embarrassed.

Dealing with this so-called law firm is impossible. After numerous phone calls (40) plus and being put on hold for over 30 minutes (I hung up,called back 5-6 times they wouldn't answer the phone. Do not believe a single word from them! None! All they do is play games with you!

I understand that collecting money can be difficult. However they still need to treat their customer with respect and not like trash.Chanel Bowers is so rude. Every time I spoke with her she just has attitude and I finally had to request to work with someone else. I could say so much more but it's not worth my time.

Great experience talking to people at the front window like "Garrett" and a "Sadie". I, however, did NOT have a good experience speaking with a "JOSHUA" whose breath smelled somewhere between FRIED PICKLES and CAT FOOD. Someone check that guy's lunch bag!!

"Want to be" sharks lurking for their next victim. Sadly, this is more of a debt collection company. Don't give in. Show up at court and they settle. Sometimes for half. I highly recommend staying far away from Jennifer Ander*** and Ryan. These people are RELENTLESS. I laugh at how much time they waste harassing people!

Absolutely heartless people here. They are rude and extremely inconsiderate.

They are collecting debts from people whom are obviously in debt for a reason. The client which they are supporting and collecting my debt for are slimy people. When i had my son i was on state insurance which means everything was covered. They then filed a claim that they never received my insurance information but that the date was to far past due that my insurance could not do anything about it. They wanted close to $800.00 dollars from me. I only receive a small amount a month in child support because i do not work and am a full time college student. My payments are due every Monday...mind you today is Monday and they are already calling me trying to grill me about getting their payment. I have never not given them their friggen money and they are pulling this. It is so ANNOYING and UNPROFESSIONAL of them to be calling people hassling them about getting their payment when they aren't even late on their payment or behind on their payment.

They have served me papers on the same exact matter multiple times when I paid the whole thing off over a decade ago. They should be called CON Law Firm NOT KOHN!!! They are con artists who steal your money but don't pay the debtor that they are supposed to on your behalf! Worst company I have ever dealt with aside from Capital One Credit Card Company!! They don't work with you on anything and they erase the files proving that you paid off the debt already!!

They lie. They cheat. They make the poor suffer more.

We have been calling/leaving messages for one month to find out the balance on our account and not one person has returned our call. "Noone is available at the moment" is the receptionist's automatic response. Talking to her is like talking to the wall.

Kelly was wonderful, I was super nervous about everything. She put my mind at ease and made my experience with Kohn Law Firm great, it's not easy doing a job like theirs. Maybe cut these guys a break! Thanks again Kelly!

These aren't Lawyers, they are ambulance chasers/debt collectors and constantly keep calling for someone who does not live at this number even after advising them to NEVER call it again.

These people , if you can call them that, are dishonest and talk in circles. WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU TO RESOLVE BALANCES. I called today and talked to Joshua who told me they received my payment, but decided to do a wage garnishment anyways! Yes, there was an issue with my bank, but the payment was made as soon as I was made aware. He would not say anything other than the dialogue in front of him. He also said he PERSONALLY called several times and left messages for a week, yet I did not receive any messages. Also, these messages we re supposedly left after the payment had already cleared my bank. What a bunch of crooks.......

I had a good experience with this company. They were very nice and helpful with my case and everything was able to be resolved without going to court.

Unprofessional, and unreasonable. These people could care less about your circumstances, all they care about is getting you to fork out money you don't even have. Would give a zero star rating if possible. Tried to work with them but they said they'd garnish wages if it wasn't paid in full right away. Seems like they're out to make matters worse, not help.

While I can't say I admire the work that this firm does, as many others have had, at least they were humane in dealing with my particular situation.

Terrible law firm doesn't give the people the opportunity to make affordable payment plan instead they offer nothing. Poor customer service has unethical people working there . Shouldn't be called a law firm should be called the crooks firm.

Evil selfish people who don't care who they harm. I hope one day they experience hard times and even if they do I wish for them better people than they are. I know they won't be getting into heaven.

This Law Firm, if they can be called that, is a joke. They have no intention of talking or actually listening to calls. They are taking my father to court for a fraudulent account someone else took out in his name. From the very beginning we have been very clear about it to them and even offered to provide the case number currently open and placed them in contact with the investigator. They refused any of that information claiming they could not speak to the police.

They further claim they have sent us paperwork to fill out and send back to prove it was a fraudulent account but we never received such paperwork. Instead we got mailed a letter for another poor woman who is being sued by them but lives two hours away. I called on that and they offered no explanation. On a follow up call I was given a number to call the company they represent to report fraud, which has only been given to us now after a few months of this whole mess, why didn t they give us the number from day one is baffling. Furthermore my father is out of the country and they set his court date in a couple of weeks for which he won t be present, their rude response well he has court that day and it s up up your father to make the trip back

This firm should not even be operating. I would give them 0 stars if possible. They nothing but glorified Debt collectors calling themselves a law firm to make themselves sound more important.

The atttorney lied to me in court stating to call his assistant noel and make payment arrangements. Noel was very rude even after judgement would not explain how I needed to fill out a form. Then I foud out debt has interest. They don't want younto pay it off or expect you to. They want to garnish your check forever!

Absolutely unprofessional on the phone. They try to strong arm you even when you're willing to work with them. If I could.give a zero I would.

Kohn Law firm has been claiming to have a judgement against me for a very old debt that is not even on my credit report. There was NO JUDGEMENT (no record of any judgement is recorded in the courthouse records) and they are claiming they want to collect twice the amount of the original, very old alleged debt that was sold numerous times before they bought it. Now they are sending me threatening letters that they will continue to add interest to the alleged debt that they purchased third or fourth hand until I settle with them. This company (Law firm???) is a total scam. (I had to give them one star because it wouldn't let me post with zero stars).

The staff will flat out ignore you and not return your calls or emails. You have to go out of your way many times to get ahold of them. You try to settle and if they dont agree they will just ignore you and take you to court instead of being honest and saying "we cant work with that number." I tried settling for $500 on what was originally a $300 credit card bill and apparently that wasn't good enough but instead of communicating that they have been ignoring me now and trying to garnish wages I do not have since I am on work leave.

Unprofessional. Lacking in evidence and which has prolonged a small debt of $2000 into multiple court dates. These people are supposed to be pro's right? Why do I keep defeating them Pro Se?

They represent the city not willing to work with anyone to help any situation just one bottom line and that's just making money for themselves they'll do anything to screw others I was very unhappy with their tactics in order to resolve the client's claim

I wanted to resolve a debt, but they insist on financial institution records, bill records, and a lot more information that is a total invasion of privacy.

The people who work here represent big companies and will not work with you to resolved any problems. They will take you to court regardless of how much you want to work it out.

DO NOT share personal info. I received a call saying they wanted to offer a settlement, I asked for it in writing. I never got it and when I called back about not getting it they claimed it was not them that called and then asked for additional personal information. RUN RUN RUN before your scammed too.
most unethical company in Milwaukee. not only that but while you are paying off your debt they will still increase the damage to your credit, by not properly reporting to your payments and instead increasing the debt and making it look like you have not made any payments.

I paid them $4,000 so they wouldnt take me to court. They said they got the money and would send me a reciept. Instead, they sent me a court date in which the court made a judgment wanting me to pay another $4,000. I called them and asked where my reciept is so i can proove to the court i already paid, and they said word to word we cant speak to you about this and hung up. Soooo, they literally just stole $4,000 from me.

If i could give a negative 100 I would. They take advantage of people with no money. They don t work with you and take more than what you owe on debt and don t own up to it. They know one can t afford a lawyer so they take advantage of that fact. I told them of two errors and they didn t call back. I offered to sit with them to show them their errors as well. They are shady and can t even give a correct answer on how much interest they charge. I m so mad it s not funny

I believe as well that they file bogus information and scare people and this is a terrible way to due business.

I can t believe it is lawful to insist on a payment arrangement that isn t affordable especially given the current situation around the world. I called the office to set a payment arrangement on a debt that I was believed was handled and it wasn t. Spoke to a guy Jason a few months ago and was told that I had to make a payment of 360/mo explained I couldn t afford it & was told that it s nothing they can do. I called to let them know I couldn t get off for court so could I settle & the price was still the same. I was told that attending woundn t help me but after the court they couldn t lower the payment. Now they court date has past & the payment is $100 lower. They have the worst attitude & actually I believe they enjoy the thought of a garnishment instead of a lower payment arrangement.

ya they steal from the poor i have cancer and was found guilty of and accident i had nothing to do with i caught the lawyer lying two times in court but milw just wants to steal from the poor

These people are the real crooks, they lie, steal, and cheat to steal people's money from hard working Americans. Lawyers like this are the lowest of the low and should be ashamed to practice law.

Absolutely awful. They are the most unprofessional and pokey debt collectors. They are extremely rude and wonder why everyone hates them. I've been hung up on and talked to like crap. I give them a star for effort in harassing you and getting the information they need. But when it comes to them having to sink their teeth into you knowing that real hardworking people are struggling they'll hang on like a leech until you burn them off. Word of advice for those dealing with them: don't feel bad about calling them for information and updates. Go above and beyond otherwise if you wait for them to act you'll sorely regret it. Do what they do: call them, fax them, email, mail, etc. Cover your tracks and keep copies of EVERYTHING. Oh and remember who you talk to as well. So glad they record calls.

I called to hire them for a dept colletion, but they told me they dont take low volume clients. only those with 50 or more cases. So they are not out here to help the small person like me,

Well right now I'm at a in-between decision I am still waiting for one of the lawyers to contact me back about a question I had, and I have not received any response yet from the office and it's been at least a week now. So to me that is a poor choice of Work ethics

Have been hounded about disputed liquidated damages. Won't return messages when looking to settle from myself or my attorney.

Heartless money grubbers. They literally will only accept ridiculously high payment plans (like $400 a month on a total bill of only $2200), and if you can't afford it, they would rather take nothing and suspend your license. I've offered them 200 a month multipe times and they would rather take nothing than that.

No people skills at all. I understand that they probably deal with people who want to argue all day. But when someone is trying to talk nicely and resolve a situation you would think that they would be a little more nicer about it. Everyone I have talked to over there, which you ll never get the same person twice, is rude and demeaning.

Never give them your work number. They will ask for it as an emergency contact then harass you at work. They will also file forged documents.
And no, I didn't avoid paying them. I made my payments, until they filed a forged document to try and get twice the money that I owed them. Thankfully that was dropped, and I then I resumed payments. So if you are in dispute for how much you owe, do NOT give them your work number.

Worser than a tax collector never seen anything like that honestly the city new who to pick to mess with you

Thanks to the Equifax, Facebook, and other data breaches last year. My identity (and probably yours) has been compromised. These shady lawyers have taken advantage of this, and have filed a lawsuit against me. I can't wait to fight them (and win) in court, possibly counter sue, and discuss this on my radio show "Crown Cast" by King Craig James. Don't do business with shady lawyers who have contracts with companies like "DISCOVER FINANCIAL" But hey, don't take my word for it.. Just because I am famous.. Read the rest of the reviews first.

Wants to charge $25 to get a copy of a paid satisfactory letter that I never received. Said they sent one already si it's a fee to get it. Need it to close judgment. But since it went regular mail (no tracking) and they didn't get it back they want to charge me.

Very friendly staff....always willing to assist in resolving debt. I thought I was without options and would have to file bankruptcy. The firm was fair. I understand that they can't just take $50 a month and adequately represent their clients.

I owed alot of money to a couple of their clients and they treated me with dignity and respect through the resolution process. The bad reviews on this firm appear to be based on frustration of having to pay a debt back. Those accusations are unfair and unfounded.

These people are ridiculous. I set up a payment plan to avoid court. ONLY TO BE SERVED PAPERS AND SUED ANYWAYS. Then after being sued they threw out our original agreement amount per month and TRIPLED the monthly payment.

The original creditor has charged me the full amount of interest due on the original loan and the loan amount and now these people put their interest on top of the full loan amount (interest included)

It seems criminal and if anyone has any info on this please let me know! This interest is building daily? Is this legal?

BBB will be getting a call. you people represent huge companies and squash out people with little or no money to defend themselves. How do you sleep at night.

Unrealistic payment plans and "settlements". Found out my husband had a lingering debt from a credit card he had while married to his first wife. They bought the debt for $5k, now want over $10k for the daily interest that accrued. Tried to offer $7500, they wont take anything less than $9200... some settlement...

I had to file e paperwork for the claim that kohn Lawfirm filed against me, yesterday I got paperwork from the courts telling me I had to make a payment in full by x date or it would have consequences, today I called kohn Lawfirm just to make sure I could drive out and deliver the payment in person so I could have records for the court case, in case they try and state I didn t pay them on time, in my court paperwork it states the balance I owed them down to serving me paperwork, and the lawyer fees etc. when I called to get this information to drop it off the woman I spoke with on the phone told me the balance given to me wasn t correct and that they add interest on to the court balance... I m livid... this place is so unprofessional and NO WHERE IN MY COURT PAPER WORK DOES IT SAY THEY ADD INTEREST IF PAYMENT ISNT MADE RIGHT AFTER THEY FILE.

I do not even want to give them one star, after being served papers and never receiving information in the mail regarding this debt. They served papers on me. I Called to settle the amount for 261.00 than they told me I owed 376, than it was 415. Jason told me they could garnish up to 438 which is more than I even owe. How can they get away with this. They are rude and just complete jerks

They're nothing but a two bit collection agency with a fancy name. They're quick to demand you hold up your end of a bargin, but it's like pulling teeth to get them to hold up their end. After four phone calls I still hadn't got a letter of satisfaction. Time for a fifth.

They sent a letter about debts that are NOT MINE to me and MY EMPLOYER! Totally scary about how they connected my name (wrong middle name) and personal information with someone else's debt. First letter received was about WAGE GARNISHMENT. Again, not me or my debt. There was NO phone number provided to contact them about the situation, and I had to work through my employer to clear my name. Shame on Discover card for using their services #ShameOnDiscover. No Discover card for me ever!

If I could give this firm a big fat zero I would! In particular, "Ryan" who works there cuts you off when talking with you. Which I think interrupting someone who is trying to talk to you about their debts and trying to resolve is completely unprofessional. He absolutely didn't care to hear that I haven't worked due to health issues. That was completely cold hearted and down right savage. All he heard was, "This woman refuses to find a job and is a deadbeat who owes a credit card money." He even went as far as asking me how I even pay for my hygiene products without a job. I mean come on?! Now mind you, I called them to work it out and received this treatment. I worked out two other monthly payments with agencies where I actually owe more. I will be seeing them in court. I'm sure there will be more unprofessionalism at play. I truly hope something is done with this joke of firm.

* PS: If you happened to be hunted down by this Ryan or probably anyone in this firm for that matter. Please don't allow them to push you around. You deserve more respect than that. Your not a criminal because you fell behind in bills.

The worst company ever. I understand if you own money you have to pay and it comes with fees but I have never heard of a fee of 1,000 every 13 weeks for not having a phone number on file for them to contact you but they have your address on file. The rep I spoke too told me it's all my fault I didn't supply them a phone number and they legally could tack that extra 1,000 on everytime. So someone who works hard to pay something off is getting screwed because you dont have their phone number, then when you call in they say oh we recieved your payment and when its processed you will owe 18 left over and when you call again they say oh that went to fees so you still owe the same amount as the other time you called in. Really what kinda scam are you running here?

From looking at the reviews, I can tell this place is horrible, heads up do not apply for a job with these people they will constantly give you the run around and waste your time very unprofessional place. I will never recommend anyone to go with this place, please save your time and money and go to a real legit law firm.

Very rude customer service and they are not willing to work with you.

I work for a Real Estate Title company and when we "have" to call this firm to get payoff letters it is a horrible experience.. We are trying to PAY OFF A JUDGMENT or TAX DEBT though a Real Estate Transaction and they have the worst customer service... I can only IMAGINE how difficult it must be for people trying to work out a payment plan or some other alternative.

So, they are a collection agency hiding behind a law firm and very sleazy. My son's girlfriend got a summons to appear, which we did, to our local courthouse. Found out we just had to do some paperwork and mail it to them and then the next thing we know, a judgment was made against her for failure to appear. WHAT!!! Then they jacked up the amount to cover their expenses (though they didn't have to appear anywhere). She has no money so they couldn't get anything. But a year later, out of the blue, another summons comes with a hearing before a commissioner. We are set to go, until they hound her to make a deal and they will cancel this hearing. So, they add a couple hundred more onto what she owes, supposedly cancel the hearing (which I truly believe they didn't really cancel and she'll probably be judged on that too) and told her she could pay $300 a monthy or pay all and they will take $300 off. Well, since the amount is now about $600 more than it originally was, not much of a deal. A couple years ago I told her to tell them we would pay $1,000 and they refused. You know darn well they paid almost nothing for this debt. A bunch of crooks. I'm disgusted at what they will do to make a young lady an anxious mess.

Never give them your information, they are not there to help you. They represent big companies against small people with no money.

Crooks. Settled with them a year ago and now I m told I owe 99.11 due to interest that accrued on a small amount leftover from my judgment. SHADY.

They are definitely crooks..even after the debt is satisfied they still find a way to charge you. To get this off my credit report, I need to pay an additional $25 by money order and by mail...anything to hold up progress. This is how they keep the poor POOR.

Certainly no one wants to find themselves in a situation that requires a debt collector but I can say from my experience that I've been satisfied with my service. They were reasonable and came up with a realistic payment plan with me that allowed me to spread out a rather large balance over a long period. Fortunately after a lot of work this balance will be taken care of this month. In the few instances that I had to adjust a payment date within the same month, they even allowed that. Not everyone's situation is the same, and there may even be some with unfair/unwarranted debts in their name, but for me and most others, we got in over our heads for whatever series of unfortunate reasons and now must pull ourselves out and we can't really be angry about that, we just have to make do.

These people are the worst!!! Do not give them your phone number! And do not let them double collect on an account!! If they tho k they can they will. Keep every copy of everything you get from them. You'll need it to defend yourself. I am all for starting a class action suit. But I have no idea how to do that. They take advantage of EVERYONE trying to start over, they unreasonable, and their employees are rude. Worst company in the state.

Over taxation of the properties people already own. The add extra penalties on top of the taxes from the year before.
I called in to have my paperwork ready and when I arrived the following day, they weren't there. I had to go back down 13 floors to add more money to the meter.

I'm working with a debt consolidation company, making payments to them, and they are still bringing me to small claims. Thanks for helping out, when I'm only trying to fix my debt! They are not willing to work with anyone! Sorry if I don't have a bunch of extra money to give you.
