I made a call to have someone from Kodiak visit and give me a quote on replacement windows. The date and time were set and a gentleman showed up. However, at this point things went downhill quickly. I had stated over the phone that I wanted fiberglass replacement windows. The employee that arrived went right into his pitch about why I should be ordering vinyl windows. I told him"no, I want fiberglass windows." To which his reply was "we maybe do 95% vinyl replacements and 5% fiberglass." Okay..... At that point it was simply a waste of my time. He didn't bring a sample, didn't know the prices of the products and couldn't even write me a quote.
Thankfully, I got him out of the house relatively quickly where he lamely remarked "I will call my guys and get back to you on a quote." Yeah right.... and they still haven't, not that I want one. The guy was friendly enough, but the "quote" was a complete waste of time.

My husband & I just had our bathtub and surrounded redone by Kodiak. I'm blown away by the level of professionalism, customer service and quality. When we were first given a quote for the new tub system, I thought it was a little expensive. Now that the job is done, I feel it's worth every penny. Looks great, very functional for us. Everything was completed within 4 weeks and there was never a stressful moment during install or leading up to it. Will be using Kodiak for all our future projects!
they came out after they took measurement's came back in the time they said ,removed the old roof and installed new roof in good time ,they cleaned up after . They where very polite about it took me around after they were done it was outstanding job ,I recommend them to all that I see and talk to
They took a $3000 down payment. Work was supposed to be finished in November. They never showed up to work on it. Every time I get ahold of someone, it is two more weeks. My tub is on back order but it will be in in a week. They have now stopped returning my calls and emails. They are liars and scammers. This is happening to everyone. Don t do business with them!
I hired Kodiak to tear out a bedroom window and replace it with a sliding door. It's so much easier to get to our new deck now! The installers completed the job in a very timely manner. They cleaned up well and were respectful of our home. I would recommend Kodiak to anyone looking for home improvement and would be happy to do business with them in the future.
The owner gives a good sale talk. But, when it came time to complete the work they took their time and did not meet the proposed time frame. Also, I continuously experienced poor communication, was supposed to have had four windows installed and only received two of them. There were several excuses given for the other two and I lost money. This company is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau, after I was told they were by the owner. Do not waste your time !
Needed windows so I looked online for reviews and found kodiak to be among the highest so I called them. Salesmen says make sure your wife is home so I can explain everything to both of you (clearly a sales tactic). He showed up to my house at 530pm dinner just got done we already knew we wanted new windows but he insisted to do his entire sales pitch for nearly 2 hours.
Then he finally sits down to price out 3 windows and a slider he comes back with 5900.00 then he says if you sign right now without calling anyone else ill give it to you for the price on the back of the paper, he flips over the paper and it was 5100$. After having him break it down and doing quick math in my head he was pricing things incorrectly and he caught himself. This was about the 3rd red flag for me after i said i needed time to go over it with my wife he stuck around for another 20 minutes trying to sell the product and get us to sign telling us you still have 3 day legally after you sign to rescind the offer I said no we need more time.
Glad I held off they were almost DOUBLE what everyone else got back to me with estimate wise. He says we arent the cheapest and we arent the most extensive he was wrong they certainly are the most expensive and they have the most dated sales tactics i thought maybe this guy was a rainbow vacuum salesman at some point in his life. BUYER BEWARE THEY ARE SALESMAN AND THEY USE CONTRACTORS THEY DO NOT INSTALL WITH IN-HOUSE TECHNICIANS. There is also a lot of evidence most of their reviews are done by their employees.
The windows appear to be excellent quality, time will tell about energy savings since they are too new to have a good frame of reference. Temps using laser thermometer are very even and consistent throughout, and seem better than what I had, did some testing halfway through to see the difference. The installation went extremely well, they were on time, moved quickly, and the end result looks great!! I would highly recommend the whole process!!
We are repeat and very satisfied customers of Kodiak Construction. They installed new windows in our home and then wood flooring in our condominium. The new windows made such a difference in the appearance and warmth of our home in cold Michigan winters. We have had many compliments on our new floors. We were very pleased with their professionalism and the quality of workmanship.
Hired Kodiak to install attic blow-in to my rental property. The estimator was professional and Amanda, the scheduler, delivered the project on time and on budget. I personally visited the property during the installation and was extremely satisfied with the installation team. I would definitely hire Kodiak again.
EDIT: it's been atleast 4 months since the roof has been done and there are still a few things left undone. I've contacted the company twice about it and they said they would be out to get it fixed. One corner of the roof doesn't look professional and they took down one of my gutter drains and never put it back up, both of these things I have a dressed and nothing has been done, no one has even came out and I live less than a mile from their company. Not happy especially when myou neighborhood has had roof jobs done and it's one and done.
Loving the new roof. No more leaks compared to whoever did the last job. Job took about a week but rained a few days so that's understandable. Love the way the shingles make my house stand out. Would do business with them again.
Kodiak installed a metal roof on my garage. They hired a great sub contractor but didn t pay them ? We paid for the project completely. Now I m getting threats form the sub contractor to place a lien on my home. Tried calling Greg the owner and he won t return my call now????
We recently had our roof installed by Kodiak Construction and had a wonderful experience. It was a smooth process from start to finish, and our roof looks amazing! I would highly recommend this company. We will be contacting them again for future projects.
After having done all our windows with Kodiak we decided to contract them for a metal roof. They just completed it and the roof looks incrediable! Took only 2 days for them to do in some bad weather. I would highly recommend Kodiak for any improvements and we will be soon looking to update our bathroom with them soon, Great job guys!
kodiack was overpriced the customer service was terrible and it took them 2 times longer then we agreed to in the contract.the plumber they recomended was terrible I would never have them do anything for me again ever.also we could never get a hold of them. they said 4 to 6 weeks it took them 11 weeks.
Kodiak Construction installed one new acrylic shower system and one new complete bath system in our home. Installation technician, Sam lifted our. bathrooms into the 21st century ! Every time we pass by our new installations we say, Wow ! We are very happy Clients ! Thanks Kodiak and Sam ! All our Best, The Wieland Family
Kodiak did my windows in 2018 - they did a good job/so my daughter called them to do her windows 08/2019, cannot get a return call and no windows- very frustrated!
Everything from start to finish with Kodiak construction went awesome. We had a bathtub installed with the company they came in removed all the old product and replaced with new checked piping and all. They were more than willing to do the job in a timely fashion seeing it is our only bathroom. They have been very good with following up and I would highly recommend them for other services. We would definitely hire them again.
This is a terrific company. They met their timeline, did everything agreed on with professional quality. The entire crew was very polite and conscientious. Our roof looks great. It is so good to not worry about ice jams this winter!!! Will definitely call Kodiak for future projects!!!
Kodiak Construction recently did some work for us at our home including a new roof, installation of a french door and new flooring in our laundry room. Three separate projects over the past 18 months and all of them were done professionally and on time. The staff and installers were all great to work with. I have recommended them to friends and they too have had good experiences.
Sam did an awesome job on the redo of our shower. It looks so sharp and I have had many compliments on FB and Messanger from friends and family. He offered suggestions that we took, when needed, and they worked out very well. Sam has a great personality and I felt very comfortable working with him. Highly recommend Sam and this product.
Hired Kodiak to replace our roof with metal. Sales guys really impressed us. We signed a contract with them estimating they would start in 6-8 weeks. They started 19 weeks later. I usually had difficulty contacting them and they kept telling me they would start in a couple weeks. When they were working on it they were polite to us. But they left trash (including small pieces of sharp metal) and cigarette butts on property. And the roof looks pretty good, but there's a piece of wood they should have replaced before connecting roof to it. We had put a bandaid patch over a hole in it and now with the roof there we can't replace it ourselves. Which they said that included in our price was 10 square feet of wood if they need to replace any. Will not use them again. Never. Oh, and they asked us to sign that they finished the project 2 days before they were finished so they could get the money that we had financed sooner.
Kodiak came and did a fantastic kitchen remodel for our home. From start to finish they gave only the best customer service to make sure we were happy with the final project. Highly recommend this company for any project they offer.
I've spent 40,000 with the company and have had nothing but troubles with the synthetic materials used for my deck, and several window wraps that are coming apart and can't even get a return phone call . Greg was out to do inspection and measurements one year ago and never returned, i have placed no less than fifteen phone calls to the company to find out when repairs would be scheduled and not a single return call. So if the owner is paying attention please call an attourney is the next step my brand new railings are all falling apart. UPDATE!!!! After the review was posted i was contacted promptly and repairs have been made with a sincere apology. The person responsible for all the miscommunication had been let go and things are running smoothly. Thank you, Edward Feldpausch
My mother contracted Kodiak Construction for some flooring, an updated shower, some steps and railing, and to have her laundry moved to the main floor. I was present for the estimate. The work was purported to start in a timely manner; it was not and took several phone calls to even tie down a tentative date. Upon completion there was no vent for the dryer or 220 to power it. Kodiak returned installing a 36 dryer went with two 90 degree bends. I believe code to be 35 feet straight. Bends take off feet. Kodiak put my mother into contact with an electrician to run the 220. She had to pay the electrician out of pocket. What type of general contractor moves the laundry and does not seem that it is important that it work? Kodiak was the general contractor, this includes the electrician. The only trade, at the estimate, that was mentioned as not provided was the painter. Kodiak did not live up to their estimate.
Be prepared for high pressure sales. We contacted this company for an estimate. When the employee came out he insisted that both my husband and myself sit down with him for two hours. I was ill that day so my husband explained that he would be gathering the information. The employee told my husband that it would be illegal for him to proceed without me present.
Signed a contract with President Greg on 8/2/19, it is 11/11/19. Several phone calls to the company and owner. Repeatedly being told it will be done in another week or two and no return call from the owner. Our shower/tub is supposed to be replaced and a vent installed. Extremely disappointed in the wait time as interest accrues daily to the advance payment made to Kodiac with nothing to show for it. Our tub base is broken, leaks and is held together by a variety of sealant products and is currently our only working shower! We need our shower/tub replaced out of necessity not vanity. Greg saw the condition of our bathroom, explained why we should get the work done with his company, encouraged us to cancel appointments we had scheduled to get quotes from other contractors and yet here we wait. Embarrased at the condition of our tub, fearful we could fall through or ruin our washer and dryer below if the water breaks through again. Please consider taking your time and vetting companies before signing contracts! As I'm reading other reviews, I'm noticing a familiar trend. Never again!
When we initially had the job done we had some problems, but after working with Amanda in the office we we were able to work through them. Ken came out to my mothers house and did a wonderful job. We appreciate them working with us and finishing the job. Thank you.
The windows look and function great! In the afternoon the sun is beating on the front of our house. Now we can enjoy our living room without the added heat. Installation was fast and non eventful. We did find a few screws in the yard but other than that we had a great experience. The installers were quick and professional. The whole process was great!
Work was performed professionally, quickly and high quality.
I would recommend Kodiak Construction highly - you are treated with respect and any charges were discussed openly and fairly - all options and all parts of the job were discussed.
Keeping us us to date until the work was complete.
I really am happy with my new roof. I paid more then I expected (but this is my first time with a house), but I know it is good quality, great warranty, and will last for years to come. I will not have to worry about my roof again. The color looks great with my house. I really liked the crew came out and got it done between snow storms and did a great clean up of the yard. The salesman I dealt with in the beginning came back to inspected to make sure he was satisfied. Would hire them again for the next project. (5/2016 I am still finding old roofing material and nails around the yard and in the gutters. I will not hire again in the future will try another company that cleans up well after a project.) **5/2016 Shawn contacted me from Kodiak Construction and came out today. Spent over an hour cleaning up any remaining old roofing material from the driveway, yard, and gutters. Very impressed. He apologized for the prior clean up. They have made it right and am hopeful they have learned for this. Thank You Shawn!!!
LOVED working with Kodiak! My job had a lot of moving parts which the Kodiak team handled beautifully. Well done Sam, Ken, Greg and Mark! Everyone was professional, responsive and delivered what was promised. Added bonus: The owner of the company popped in to introduce himself and check out the job. Thanks, Greg Olson! I highly recommend this team.
The experience I had was a very positive one Kodiak construction replaced my whole bathroom shower with glass doors, window, floor and toilet they were very friendly and efficient we are very pleased with the work and the crew.
My husband and I are ecstatic over our new windows! Hats off to Stephan, Greg and Trevor for braving the heat, sun and 11 big old and falling apart 1950's era windows that should have been replaced at least 20 years ago! The new windows have certainly given our old house new life... Stephan, Greg and Trevor were all very professional, courteous and mindful... Thank you, gentlemen.. Y'all rock
Terrible communication and they did not follow through. We had our kitchen done. It s a very small kitchen and we were adding a little construction. The owner, Greg, does a great sales pitch. I wish I checked the reviews because they are all our exact experience. We were quoted 4-8 weeks to complete the project and it took 14 weeks with multiple phones calls from me. They never once contacted us. The job is cheap and poor quality. Our new cabinets have dings in them, the tile/grout looks like a beginner did it and the trim piece they left under the cabinets looks terrible! They told us they would come fix it and now won t return our calls or texts. I would NOT recommend them! Definitely not worth $14,000!
Since 2016, I have used Kodiak for two home improvements. In 2016, we had a new roof installed. Our first contact was with Dan from Kodiak. He walked us through the process of the work that would be done, the great warranty that stays with the house as long as it is standing, helped us choose the best shingles available, and even braved out steep pitched roof for measurements. The company which came out to do the job, was amazing. They had the old roof off, and the new one installed in 4 days. They did an amazing job of cleaning everything up when they were done, and even allowed us to use the huge dumpster in our drive to get rid of any of our junk. Next, 2017 arrived with the idea of a new bathroom. I hated our bathroom. In one word, pink. Pink tile, pink walls. Pink, pink, pink. Our friend Dan from Kodiak happened to stop by our home early Spring. He came by to make sure we were happy with the roof after our first winter with it. The rain gutters had been removed, and bare wood was showing where the fascia had been removed. Dan, being the coolest company guy I had ever met, volunteered to go to Lowes and Menards to pick up new fascia and install it for us. Like I said, cool guy. We then sat down with Dan and talked about what I was looking for in a new bathroom. The biggest thing I wanted gone was the bathtub/shower. I was really looking for a nice walk in shower. And it was something we did not want to tackle on our own. So he busted out the shower book, and I went to town. Two weeks later a wonderful man came and tore out our old tub. He replaced all of the old pipes for the shower, and even went so far as to replace some of the old pipes in the basement. I am so happy with my new bathroom, and I am so happy with the work Kodiak has done for us. And here we are in 2018, and time for another project. Greg will be coming to our house on Friday, and we will be sitting down to discuss new flooring in the living room. Stay tuned for project 3 reviews. So I have to say that I am thrilled with Kodiak Construction. I suggest you give them a call.
Very easy to work with, completed everything we needed in the time, and some extras at no cost.Ken our installer was awsome a true craftsman, honest and a true jack of all trades.my wife and I would hire and recomend Ken and Kodiak Const. again.5 stars.
Gave kodiak an order for a walk in shower, they had us give them 3775.00 dollars on August 13th. They came and measured for the shower and now nothing. We called them and they said it was on back order. Pretty good we had to call them trying to found out what is going on. They still don't return our calls. Don't use this company at all. All they do is take peoples money and don't deliver anything.
Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY. PLEASE!!! Save your money and time!! It's been almost five to the since I called them. Paid 7,500 dollars. And I cant even get them to answer there phone..Dozens of phone calls. And nothing. Bath is falling apart now. At this point I'm just trying to get my money back. DONT DO IT PEOPLE!!! I'm actually getting my lawyer involved in this matter. I will update everyone later. But I WILL GET my money back!
Excellent shower installation for my bathroom. On time and installers were professional and left the space clean and took care of the surroundings of my home. The only reason I gave one less star than 5 is because the soap dish was back ordered and I had to call to make sure that it was on the installation list. I think the removal of my tub and replacement of the walk in shower will allow me to remain in my home longer as I age.
They have terrible follow through. They came to quote me a job ( Greg, the owner) and he said he had windows that would not have to be special ordered and the glass room could be done in about three weeks. Well, five weeks later, and 7 phone calls later, nothing has been done. Not one returned phone call. I had my addition done by them several years ago and I wanted to stick with the same company. Wish I had never heard of this company.
Very nice looking cabinets that match the rest of the kitchen. Installers were very professional and cleaned up the kitchen every day when they left. The counter top and cabinets fit together really well and everything is square and in line.
I think they are going out of business!!! On January 1st, they removed their company VM greeting and replaced it with a a generic robot vm msg. Do not pay up front!
Google reviewers...READ THIS! I usually don't complain about companies, but I am here. I had a stone-coated steel roof put on my home and paid $17,000 for a 900 square foot home. I was okay with that, expecting good service if needed. WRONG! The "after sales support" does not exist.
My ceiling showed evidence of a leak directly under a vent pipe. I called Tim and sent a picture and he said someone would come out between Dec 17 and 29, 2019. Never heard from him again.
90+ phone calls TO Tim Hayes, at least 1/3 with msgs left and 17 emails looking for help. He chose to ignore EACH one!
It is apparent that Kodiak does not honor warranty work. I get that it is a non-revenue generating task, but Kodiak should honor this work.
I asked a local Benton Harbor roofer to fix it, and they said no because they didn't want to assume liability.
I bet in their response they will claim they made several attempts to contact me like they have to other customers. They haven't even butt-dialed my phone by mistake. i bet they will say it was too cold. It wasn't...we had 50 and 60 degree temps the time I was there.
Google reviewers, the complaints against this company are very real, especially with Tim's non-response. If you are going to select them, get another quote and go with the other firm. It is pretty apparent Kodiak won't honor warranty work.
We had an overall wonderful experience with this company. The only reason I can't give five stars is that there was a communication breakdown in the middle. I get the impression this was abnormal as there was someone on medical leave and they seemed to be unprepared for that, which is understandable. Our salesman Ron was awesome. The quote came in well within our budget and all cost stayed on track. We feel we got a fantastic value. After a few phone calls to move things along, the installation was fast, professional and clean. We look forward to working with this company in the future for many of our household projects. I have to update my review. I have now had to have 2 service calls to fix little things on the doors. One was our fault, but covered by the warranty. The other was a defect or installation error. The first repair took weeks to be rectified and I was sent from person to person to try to find the right person to fix it. It has now been 5 weeks and 7 phone calls and 3 missed follow-ups on the second repair(the defect). The repair guy was due at my house 1 hour ago but....no show, again. Not even a courtesy call to let me know they weren't coming. We have quite a few more projects to do on our house but I guess we need to find a new company to work with. Another update: I met the son of the VP (he came to my door to offer services whole they are in the area doing work). I nearly laughed him off the porch. He was very concerned, listened to my story and said the man who was the biggest problem is no longer with the company. He also talked to his dad who then contacted us. It was nice to finally get the feeling they want my business. We will give them another chance when we have a project they can do. Hopefully I can re-review and go back to my original 4/5 star rating.
Kodiak did an outstanding job at my home in Grand Rapids. I have a 1908 home that needed construction outside of your average "cookie cutter" job and no standard off the shelve units would work. His team installed a custom acrylic Bath Planet walk in shower system that is absolutely perfect and met all my expectations and then some. I have 4 boys who use this shower daily and therefore I know I needed something that is easy to clean and highly durable. I guess by my comments... I would recommend Kodiak ;)
We signed contracts in June and August 2019 for 2 separate projects and haven't heard from the company since November despite multiple phone calls and physical appearances at the office. Have filed a BBB complaint and considering legal action to get our money back. Very disappointed as we have used them in the past and have been very happy with work in years past.
