AWFUL. My business has been closed since mid-March due to the pandemic. I forwarded payment for my March bill though the cheque hasn't yet cleared, probably because the office is closed. Now they advise my account is in arrears and I'll be charged 1.5% monthly!!! They can do that when they don't have to deal with competition. Or have morals!
PS I gave them one star because I couldn't post this giving them no stars!
Power has been put for 4 hrs now. Just think...with the rate people pay for the CEO TO make over $1mil a year they could of have them $500k, hired more working to get stuff done. No wonder you only have a 2.6 out of 5 you clowns.
The staff here are both courteous and skilled. I called on a cold Sunday evening due to a power issue and they had two guys out to fix the problem that evening! The person who answered the phone call had great customer service and the hydro workers who came out where just as friendly. Couldn't ask for a better hydro utility!
Vultures - this type of utility monopoly should not be allowed.
Worse experience ever. When Kitchener Hydro decides to increase my bill without notifying me by 100$ a month. When I called to complain about this sudden increase they just told me tough luck have a good day. I hate how we're stuck with a company that takes advantage of their customers.
Very helpful staff - love that they are open until 5pm so I can make it in to pay after work! Staff are very professional dealing with customers and do their best to accommodate everyone's needs!
Amazing after hours customer service. We, along with a few neighbours had a partial hydro outage on a Saturday evening. Upon alerting them to the issue, they had a crew on sight with in 30 minutes. They were able to diagnose the problem, and arrange for a full crew to come out on Sunday and correct the issue which was buried underground. They professionally replaced our neighbours interlocking driveway, you couldn't even tell it had been pulled up, all in the same day!
I recently moved in to the area, and I have only had positive experiences with this organization! In the three times I have called Kitchener Wilmot Hydro, I have received top-notch customer service from three employees: THEA, BARB, and JANET! They were all open and friendly, as well as extremely helpful, professional, courteous, and kind! This was great customer service, and I felt that I wanted to write in and let someone know.
First they block us into our driveway with their shredder while there s an entire street open and when my sister had to leave, they waited to shred a few more things before letting her out. Also I ve been in the same house for 19 years with a pine tree out front that has never been an issue through any storms but for the first time ever they ve decided to was necessary to hack away at it and leave us with half a tree, I ll be surprised it they didn t sever the Christmas lights in the tree. And this isn t even to mention the many, many issues we ve had with them in the past. Definitely not impressed.
Public utility office - you only visit when you most certainly have to! I haven t had any bad experiences so far. Staff is courteous (in-person and on the phone). Recently interacted on the phone and online regarding new account setup and cancellation of old one. Just had a 10 min wait on the phone followed by prompt service via online form and email.
Frustrating and block the lane regularly and all day for the past two weeks. I have been consistently late to work due to their unwillingness to move.
Group of scam artist.....wants a $2500 deposit that will be held for 5 yrs......how do you expect a new business to be able to put $2500 upfront? Management not willing to do anything about deposit amount. Own multiple business in KW all in good standing but because they are not all the same name they can't do anything.
Called them again to review the deposit as they stated it was based on 2.5 months usage. Based on 2.5 months i should have a deposit of $1500. Poor customer service. I can swear they read off a script all day. Management is worse than front line employees. This is by far the worst hydro company of all time.
They like to turn hydro off on people when it's chilly weather and when there is a child present in the his us they don't like to work with anyone they are the worst hydro place in kitchener. Kitchener them self needs to bring a more perfecional hydro company to the field not this bull****
Janet and Fran were very helpful at the accounts desk. The detail on their internet payment system is also very handy
very disappointed . we are first time home buyer. we did not have knowledge to transfer hydro to our account. they disconnected our electricity in few days . then they charged us 185 dollars to reconnect it .they said on weekend they work after hours. in emergency we have to pay 185. but that cost was too much to just plug in. i aware to other people please save yourself.
I hate this company, $144.04 for 19days of hydro bill they sent us. I have small family, my kids goes to school everyday, I never touch my thermostat, it is always stay on 22c. We always keep on eye on pick time whenever we have to use hydro. Call them but they don t have answer.
Feeling helpless.

I've also had a very bad experience with this company. I lived in Toronto for several years and based on my bills found kitchener is way more expensive specifically the fees. My hydro costs was always lower than the other fees that they charge. I am happy that I am leaving Kitchener.
Brutal... Stopped getting bills in the mail for no reason at all and the customer service person didnt seem to care and just told me how much I owe....

I recently leased an EV. (electric vehicle) To go to work and return is approx. 130 km, all within the area serviced by Kitchener Wilmot Hydro.
My range is150 km. I knew that before going EV.
K W Hydro has a building near where I work.
I emailed K W Hydro and asked, if they would put in a charging station at that building. (Even a 120 outlet would do).The answer is " We have no short term plans for a charging station."
I am hoping for some public pressure to assist my request.
Wilmot township is a desert when it comes to public charging stations.
We moved in and in 2 days they were at our door to disconnect saying they dont know who the new owners are dont know whom to link to account , said they have send us mail.
As new home owner and first time home buyer , are you gonna first settle your things or run to mailbox to check if yiu already started recieving bills/notices ?
Talking to customer care reminds me of my tracher scolding and yelling , not listening to your problem and in hurry to disconnect , hung up on me .
Next time if you feel you need scolding call them.
I have been a customer for over 2 decades and I have had nothing but good service. The Customer Service people have been informative and polite with any calls I have made. No problems at all.
Never had a problem with Kitchener Wilmot Hydro and the CSR that helped me with my address change was very polite and efficient.
Been in town for about 7 years without any real issues with them. For those complaining I found Cambridge to be far, far worse.

Worst customer experience. I been calling them to pay the final bill for past 4 days and they keep on saying that the bill will be generating only overnight and u can pay the next day and on the fourth day something different and the lady talks about the note that i gave on 18th of sept and keeps on repeating as if she is a robot. Jesus how terrible people could be .

This is rediculus The power is always going out randomly every few days not only resetting my clocks but messing up my computers and stopping all my aquariums lights and filters KILLING MY FISH! now its been out for at least 8 hours so far this morning and thereTerrable customer service blamed it on a squirrel! But the news just did a big story on how they just had a huge failer that was there falt 4 days ago.. Sadly we dont have a choice but to give them our money while there paid to suck at there jobs or simply not care.
Awesome company . My bill is always on time and electricity prices go up without me even having to contact them to ask them to raise the price. Power gets cut of only 4 to 5 times a year , which is very good and incredibly convenient.
Customer service reps are great. Very professional.
The staff here are friendly and outgoing! And hey they provide all of Kitchener with our hydro!! And usually quick to fix power outages!!
Why is the staff, CONSISTENTLY, HAPPY!!, courteous, helpful, non-judgmental (when overdue)??? What is in the water there? I wished I paid my bill in person more, these people have such an amazing AND GENUINE service vibe. Kudos.
Their customer service is horrible, their systems are outdated, and their e.mail responses take 3 days to get any reply. Fantastic while you're trying to run a small business or need access to your billing records. Its obvious they don't care about the people paying their bills. Multiple failed communications, multiple failures in their website, multiple times having to call them over and over again. Its just sad really.
I've dealt with Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro for the past 5 years now. Never really had a complaint. Reliable service, friendly staff in the few dealings I've had. (How often do you have to call your electricity provider anyways?) Yes, power does go out occasionally due to storms, accidents, mechanical breaks, etc. Repairs were always timely given the situation.
They have called my number numerous times, when I call them back they say they never called me and acted confused.
Power goes out at roughly noon river Rd and renne st, find out it's a branch pushing on a wire, the tree is not down, the wire isn't broken or dangling, it's now shortly after 3 and over 2k customers still without power, this is a joke of a company. Update, it's now 4pm still no power, I'm a minute away from the location and no hydro trucks, just 2 pickup trucks sitting around.
Friendly staff but wait times on the phone are horrendous. Every time I have had to call them it's 15 minute wait - minimum!

Pieces of garbage... do not know how to treat customers, like a customer.... made arrangements to pay a bill and they cant even keep record of that, now getting threatened they are going to cut my hydro
Called to ask about a planned hydro outage, as there is an infant living here and now there is no heat or way to cook lunch in the middle if winter and the man I spoke with was very rude. He sounded aggravated from the beginning. I understand it was planned, I wanted to know details as I said an infant is currently living here. In the middle of winter.
