Just moved into town and haven't yet swung by to play some magic but, judging by both the positive and negative reviews for the store, it seems exactly like the place that I would want to game. Adults treating other adults as adults? How horrible! /s

See you soon, Galen. Looking for a spot to play a lot of limited MTG. Draft, sealed, Magic league, etc.

Indifferent staff. Don't care when people yell, immaturely argue over card games, and disturb other people by throwing slurs (c*nt, f*ggot, r*tard) around. Allow vaping even when it stinks up entire store and is illegal indoors in Florida. Some prices are horrible just because "it's the last one we have" even when nearby stores sell cheaper. Wanted to like the store, but the atmosphere is unfriendly and unsafe for gay and female gamers.

Beware. I hate to do this because the store is literally 5 minutes from where I live but have been here 3 times and would of recommended. Not to Inviting of a atmosphere for new players. Also there are the kind of people that will look a price up on eBay before selling you something . That's what I hate the most. Your a brick and motar store have set prices and also you don't have to pay PayPal, eBay, and shipping fees which should reflect on your prices. I went up there to look at a dragon ball super starter deck. They say a price so I go to pay for it and then it becomes ohh you picked that one. The cards are worth alittle more In that starter pack and it cost more . I was shocked but ha e heard horror stories about this place before and realized it was more my fault for even going there . you have been warned now

Second St. Petersburg game store today to be very disapointing to my family today. We got there roughly ten mintues after they should have been opened and there was no one there. I was so excited to see what all these great reviews are about and now they've lost a customer with their unprofessional conduct.

Place is awesome to go play some MTG,yu-gi oh or whatever other TCG your into. Board games D&D and anything in between. Helpful staff, knowledgeable staff and clean atmosphere make this a staple in my weekly rounds for MTG.( ^^^^ This all use to be true, I must redact 90% of it due to their lack of COVID restrictions. Upon walking in NOBODY had a mask on, and when they seen a person with a mask they looked at you like YOUR the crazy one. It use to be a decent place to play CCGs and board games, but has gone extremely downhill. I would take my business to somewhere that respects others personal space.)

Edit:I have been in several times since posting my original review, and they have all been good experiences. All of the sales people have been nice and very helpful. I really like this store now. They have a large selection of both singles and sealed product. They also have a very large selection of accessories like playmats and sleeves.

No one seemed to care I was there. Wanted to buy stuff but no one wanted to talk to me or take my money.

Response: Yes, that is me. I did mention I was looking for commons, bulk commons i.e. bulk. I dont think the salesman was with another customer but he may have been. He stated to me, I can grab that after I finish with "this" then pointed at a bunch of cards and the computer. It looked to me that he was sorting cards or entering stuff into the computer. Then more customers came in while I was waiting for him to finish, then he started helping them. Again, I might be wrong about that, it is only how I perceived it.

The one guy being busy is not what I had a problem with.

I entered the store stating I was part of the local community and had never been to this store before. After hearing much about it, I wanted to know what it was all about (every store is a little different). I even recognized one of the other patrons, having played against him in a local tournament before, and quickly exchanged pleasantries.

Now this is what comfused/bugged me. You had a chance to get a new regular customer and no one seemed to care. Like you dont want or need the bussiness. I was ready to spend money, you had lots of products I wanted to talk about and buy. But no one seemed interested. There was 2 to 3 people behind the counter. One man just stood in a doorway and looked at me while chatting with someone else who was in the room behind him. A young lady was sorting cards. She even got up at one point and asked the gentleman that the salesman you spoke of was helping to see if he needed help, walking by me to do so. There was also another man who was wearing a store shirt who came out and sat at a table and looked through some papers. None of these people offered me help or even acknowledge I was there.

Now I get there may have been some confusion or miscommunication, but I find it funny that you knew who I was based only little more than me stating I was ignored.

P.S. If it was a misunderstanding, which I am sure it was, I will update my star rating once I actually get a chance to shop there.

As a gay gamer, I've had no problems with this store outside of it being just a bit out of the way for me (nothing they can help, obviously.) Always able to be like family with the owners and employees and everyone there is friendly. While some people do argue from time to time, it's a rare occurrence and never really affects what I do as a gamer. I've never felt in danger and actually feel safe within the store as compared to other locations.

The new location is nice and spacious. Plenty of tables to game at with your friends. There is a wide variety of board games, collectible card games, as well as some games workshop stock to pick from.

The regular customers and visitors are pleasant the atmosphere is light and about people coming to hang out and have a good time playing some games. I enjoy coming here on weekly basis.

Inappropriate and unprofessional staff. Not only does one member of the staff judge in a biased manner, but he also touches my friend inappropriately. This same employee also made a stint about a card mat that showed no nudity, forcing my friend to remove it after he lied to the owner saying someone complained about it when no one other than friends were near by, and everyone in the establishment was over the age of 18. The owner also made things worse by threatening to kick our friend out of the shop if he didnt remove his mat. It was brought to the owners attention that this same employee had seen this mat on multiple occasions in the prior weeks of us coming to the shop, while both complimenting it and making jokes about it. So why did things change? Why was it such an issue? Then after that, the tournament that was to take place got postponed by three hours, causing us to waste time and stewing in the uncomfortable air that had been left by the employee and owner. I know I will not be letting my boyfriend waste any more time or money in a shop where they treat us like this, for no reason and the employee's actions go unchecked. Thanks for the experience ktg, you can change locations, but until you rid yourself of bad customer service-- you wont be doing much better.

I went for an event they put up on facebook. It was a newish game Keyforge. The tournaments at other stores have been pretty fun. The person at the store didn't know anything about it. The person who was supposed to run the tournament wasn't there. My buddy and I bought a deck each and played a handful of games. Basically the same thing we did the night before at home.

The gentleman behind the counter was quick to share his political views on walls and "sjw" folks. At about 9:30 on the Monday of the event (which was supposed to start at 7:00), the gentleman behind the counter told us the guy running keyforge would be there soon. I can't really start (even a 3 person tournament) on a Monday night at 10:00 pm. Work and all that.

They were also selling the starter kit for Keyforge for $10 over retail. I get that the market can increase prices, but you want to know why no one is at your tournament? You're making it hard to get into the game by not having the event coordinator show up, raising prices on the kit with all the extra bits you need, and bringing politics into the discussion.

I really want to like this place. If you play magic or any other collectible card games, this is probably the place for you. Or you might like it here if you want to talk about Trump's wall strategy, or how annoying sjw's are.

Edit: Response from the owner

Galen, Thank you for your response. I know you're working with second hand information so I will give you some additional facts that may show this wasn't a miscommunication or that I misunderstood any of the conversations.

A few minutes after 7 my friend and I approached the counter, knowing we were the only two people in the store looking to play keyforge. We asked what was going on. The person behind the counter stated clearly and unequivocally the following:
He:
- doesn't like keyforge, it's not fun for him;
- He doesn't know anything about the tournament;
- is not responsible for that tournament;
-the person running it was not there, but might be later.

Discussion about only two people being present was minimal.

My friend and I each bought a deck and played with those since we were there. During this transaction, the gentleman behind the counter was not multitasking and there was no one behind the counter with him. His conversation was directly, and attentively focused on me and my friend.

When paying for the keyforge decks, I joked about tax being added to the purchase. He stated that Trump needed money for his wall. There was no confusion about context. I didn't think it was a huge deal, which is the reason I only mentioned it briefly. Some people are very sensitive about Trump and his politics, and I thought it fair they have a warning that political discussion might become part of their gaming transaction.

I had no expectation that there would be full prize kit available in your Promos galore sealed tournament with only two people showing up. My friend and I proposed that we pay $20 each, and winner could get one of the available prizes. It was a suggestion, no big deal. We still bought decks and stuck around to play.

Sometime just before 9:30 my friend went to buy two more decks. During this he got to hear the person behind the counter finish a phone conversation. Your person telling the other end of the phone that he was hungry, and hadn't eaten yet. I can sympathize, I get hangry too. After hanging up the phone your person muttered to no one in particular "he's f***ing worthless." My friend and I aren't sensitive people, but that might not be a great side of your business to show two people trying to make the best of a tournament that wasn't happening. On the way out, he said the guy running the tournament was on his way, at 9:30 p.m. on a Monday.

I'm reasonable, I'll give your shop another shot. You're really lucky to own a game store. That's truly living the dream. It won't last long if you don't make sure your employees represent you and your store in a positive way.

Staff is very friendly and accommodating, game space is clean and kept open much later than any other game shop in the area. They also have a large stock of boards to sample in store as well as a large collection of boards in stock to purchase.

I love this store, it's very friendly and meets all my needs, they have tons of singles, and the staff are like my family. I play magic here and hang out on the regular, they are super welcoming to people like me (gay trans magic players) and that is rare to find in businesses. Would recommend to anyone else. Plus they allow vaping inside as long as it's not around children or guests which ask me not to, which gives them mad points in my book. #vapenation

I used to be a long time regular of this shop. Used to have a good time. The owner moved to open another shop and ever since since things have gone down hill. The trade in values are no longer even close what they were. The employees have no problem lying to your face or being incredibly rude. What used to be a decent store is a shadow of what it once was. Will never go back now.
My wife was also selling gaming items there on commission, but when they'd sell the staff claimed they had no clue if it actually sold so now she's out the money.

My son (10) and I went in to learn how to play Magic the Gathering. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great time learning the basics of the game. They even gave us a each a free starter deck to learn with. :) It was clean and inviting. They have a lot of merchandise to appeal to different gamers. I highly recommend it and we will be back. :)

this place is AWESOME! i went here a few days ago and i was NOT dissapointed. they had every product for every tcg that you could imagine, and it was all at msrp! even vivid voltage! the woman behind the desk was extremely helpful and obviously knew her stuff, she even gave me free magic the gathering cards. overall great experience. the only reason i gave this store a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 is the mask policy is "customer preferance". this is one of the places that NEEDS masks to be mandatory especially since people are trading cards here. small gripe but overall great experience! this place was awesome.

I called in advance to sell Magic Cards. Upon entry I was greeted with unfriendly staff. They seemed annoyed and bothered by me even walking up to the register. Both huffing and puffing and giving me condescending attitudes. I will take my business elsewhere. Would not recommend.

I took my thirteen-year-old for a pre-release of magic could not possibly have had a better experience.
Jessica made him feel so welcomed he felt like we knew her forever.
Everyone he played with was so friendly and helpful to him
My first time there and I was so comfortable leaving him unattended that I left.
He's begging to go back so we're headed there again 2 Days Later for what I'm sure will be the same wonderful experience.
Also very clean and a great selection. He already has 4 Christmas gifts picked out.

If youbare into magic the gathering then you should be right at home here. Plenty of space and well lit. My complaint is due to a lack of customer service. When asked about the pricing of the used product I was told it should be on the product. When i showed that it wasn't the clerk just kinda walked off.

No greeting upon entrance. No staff asked if I needed assistance while I was clearly trying to find something. Nobody really seemed to pay any attention to me at all.

When I asked someone on staff if they carried anything for Star Wars: The Card Game, the person didn't even know it existed, despite them carrying a few other FFG games.

The appearance of the store itself left much to be desired. It wasn't dirty, but it didn't feel clean, and there were dark sections where the bulbs above had either gone out or just weren't fully lit.

Overall I just didn't vibe with the place all three times I visited.

One of the best place to pick up Yugioh, pokemon, Mtg and dragonball cards! Heard they will be starting Yugioh tournament eventually when the Konami give them a green light! Also I hope this will store will become a official OTS store instead driving all the way to Oblivion game in Tampa

My experiance here is short, but a loving memory indeed as it is a very friendly community and the deals are not horrific. The tournys are fun and they have something for everyone! 9/10 for the amazing staff, and community!

Staff seemed annoyed that we even walked in the door and didn't greet us. Store was dirty and had a run down appearance. And it kind of had a weird smell. Everything from the shop's cleanliness to the staff's unkempt appearance to the staff's attitude really carried that "Comic Book Guy" vibe from The Simpsons that has given geek culture its negative stereotypes.

I guess you could say the shop was spacious...but that's really just code for having a very small selection of product.

Place is well kept and clean, especially when compared to other hobby shop. They only thing lacking is their advertisement of the place. If I didn't search for locations offering Friday night magic, I would have never seen this place even though I have driven by their location many times in the past.

Apologies, my friend used my phone to review your establishment while I browsed your amazing selection and I suppose he is not a fan. Updated my previous rating from 1 to 5 again due to someone using my phone. You guys are knowledgeable and very friendly l.

Great game store in Pinellas Park! They are open late and have great game selection with competitive prices. Store employees are super nice and always willing to help. Lots of tables for people to come in and play games.

Went in to start playing MTG. Mateo spent a ton of time with me playing through my first games, suggesting strategies, showing me how the game works and even suggesting tweaks to my first deck. He was super friendly and super helpful. KTG had everything for me to get started. Mateo again went above and beyond suggesting the best avenues to get where I wanted to be deck wise. It's a great environment with great people. Looking forward to being a regular customer and player.

Friend recommended me there. We went to get some yugioh bulk. We spent an hour or so looking through the boxes and found some decent cards. They scanned them individually and charged based on online prices. Commons from different sets, used condition, were $4, even tho there are holo reprints of them for pennies. These were in bulk boxes and not in near mint condition, a few days prior they sold them to my friend for a flat price.

I asked about buying some packs of Rise of the Duelist, the guy looked online and told me the packs would cost 6.99 while something like toon chaos was 3.99. I dont understand their pricing and methods.

If you like Magic and DBZ tcg, this is your place i suppose.

Normally I only like to spread positivity, but in this case I must be truthful and share. I have been a customer here for a long while, and have spent a lot of money, due to normally courteous staff. Today, I went in and saw an older single card which I enjoyed and wanted to add to my collection. As I mentioned, I have shopped here a lot and bought singles here before so I know they price based on TCG Player. This particular card in "near mint" condition was worth significantly more then the condition the card was actually in when I looked at it. Despite this the guy, whom I did not recognize said the price was "not negotiable" and essentially tried to sell me a card literally with damaged edging at a near mint card price point. I would like to think this was because this guy was new. Maybe I will try back on a different day in the hopes of getting someone reasonable. I literally had another single in my hand (priced reasonably) and was going to buy sealed product, but the wording and how that guy came off made me just leave without getting anything. I did tone down what he said in this review as well. I probably would have spent 500+ dollars at that moment, but instead spent nothing due to the treatment. Not sure when or if I will go back. In the meanwhile, I hope no one over pays for singles here.

Me and my husband stopped in to do some trade ins for the first time at this location and we were extremely happy, staff was friendly and helpful and the store itself was clean and organized. I wish I could remember the name of the staff member that helped us that day because he went above and beyond to help us find the cards we were looking for and he was very knowledgeable! (We kind of got the cold shoulder from another store in the area so we're pleased to say this will be our go to store for Magic, Yugioh and table top gaming.)

I had a very disheartening experience here. I heard behind the counter of the store some very racist remarks and I was appalled. I mentioned it and it was brushed aside as a joke. Even as a joke it was wildly inappropriate. This was said from someone behind the counter and I cannot brush that off as ok or passable. I will not be returning

I had recently cime to the shop to sell some of my collection. While the shop attendant, an older guy who kinda looks like Manny from Jackass/Wild Boys, noticed an island MTG card that my fiance had painted in my binder. I mentioned that she painted it and his remark was "she shouldn't quit her day job". I hate to think that this man is allowed to interact with customers at all. I'll be taking my business to other lgs like Critical Hits and Serenity Games from now on. They may be further away, but at least their staff aren't unprofessional and rude.

Chill vibe great place to battle at whichever card game is your preference welcoming atmosphere no pressure to buy anything it was almost like a retreat/ hangout for youth which is great!

Employees don't care about customers.

Employees don't care about customers.

They have their core demographic of 30 year old magic the gathering players and that's all they care about.

The guy that was working at 4pm March 16th had zero interest in answering any of my questions. He was too busy sorting through magic the gathering cards. He had another customer helping him do it too. One guy was sleeping on the coach. I understand that magic the gathering is their money maker but I had $100 to spend and couldn't get any help. Instead I got snark and disregard.

They don't even carry an up-to-date stock so I couldn't find what I was looking for.

If you want a boardgames store with friendly employees that are always willing to help go to Emerald City Games instead.

Not a family friendly place. It feels dark and uninviting.

I've really wanted to like Kitchen Table Games. They're pretty friendly, helpful and they've got a nice shop. Alas... they're charging high scalper prices for nearly everything.

What it comes down to is their service is way over priced. I've come in a few times for Pokemon cards and they're generally pricing above even Market Price (which is already often double MSRP). As a hobbiest, I'm being charged $65 on $25 MSRP on release day. Is the demand there? Maybe, but I'm done shopping here. Every extra dollar spent for products above MSRP supports the greedy ones and takes time off of my life.

If Kitchen Table Games wants to play the scapler game, that's fine, I'll buy for 2/3 of what they're charging elsewhere online. StockX had a double package of the Venusaur and Blastoise VMax for $77 ($85 w/ tax and shipping) rather than the $130 Kitchen Table Games would have charged me. I hope more of the community gets sick of unfair prices. It will take a grass roots effort to being the prices back down to an accessible range for everyone - especially the kids who are receiving the brunt of it.
