Did a VRBO here with four people. Condo had a wonderful view of the ocean. Our condo was on the second floor. We had option to use stairs or elevator. Elevator was pretty slow. We had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room and balcony. Had everything we needed for our week stay. Condo is close to Ding Darling refuge. Bike trails all around the island.

Have just returned from Sanibel Island Florida and spent 3 weeks in unit 202 Kings Crown booked thro Royal Shell.
The unit was a disgrace, very shabby in need of much updating. Cooker hood had no cover on the underside leaving free access by your hand to hot electric light bulb and other electrics. The blinds in the master bedroom and the lounge were of no use both falling apart and unusable. The taps on the basin in master bathroom were loose. Ants in the kitchen made preparation of food very un-hygienic. The lighting system in kitchen was very intermittent. No in house telephone in case of emergency. The patio doors were corroded and for the most part all the closing and locking mechanism was missing, the side patio door could only be closed with the help of a knife. The furniture was certainly not anywhere near the standard of other units we have stayed in the past.
Where to start on the contents of the kitchen, suffice to say plastic glasses and a complete mishmash of all other utensils will give you an idea.
On reporting the many problems to Royal Shell supported by photographic evidence in the case of the cooker, blinds etc led to some convoluted rationale that the unit was much less expensive than the other units which they assumed justified the fact that it was not up to the standard expected when you rent in good faith thro Royal Shell.
This information was of course only furnished to us once we were in Florida and had made a complaint.
Summary steer well clear of unit 202 KIngs Crown until they can show evidence of the alleged improvements that were to be made by the owners, to my knowledge they continue to rent the unit out in its current condition.
In conclusion we were offered $140 compensation... draw your own conclusions. We declined the offer and suggested they use it towards re-furb.

We have stayed in many condos such as these over the years. Overall it is a well kept property and it seems that most of the units are fairly updated. Overall ours was nice but had some old furniture, older mattresses and some drains needing some attention. Still, very livable and being sensitive to mold I found it happily clean and free of that for a building from the 70 s. We stayed two weeks and it was nice and quiet. We used the tennis court, large heated pool, and beach access every day. There are bike paths all around and plenty of covered bike racks so consider renting one. Watch out for the gators in any inland standing water pool...harmless mostly. The entire coast here is one condo complex after another. Kind of monotonous but still nice. The beach is nice with more shells than most. Local groceries are expensive so a few trips into Ft. Meyers for bulk buying is the way to go. You will need to pay the $6 toll each time when returning over the causeway. They didn t take cash as we had thought and that was a bit of a pain with the rental car so plan ahead. I would come back but can t say it s an overly memorable area compared to others all up and down the coast. And, looking at what these units go for in private sales it s a little surprising to me considering the area and amount of units along the coast here. Still, you will have a fun and likely relaxing time here.

Considering unit 202 was roughly $300 a night for this stay there were many things that were broken inside the condo including clocks and coffee makers in addition to the fact that the unit below us was going through major refurbishment included all day construction noise that interrupted meetings and caused us to move to the Sanibel library in order to get quiet so I could work remotely. It would ve been nice if the unit owner and Royal Shell would have informed us of the construction issues prior to us signing the contract for our two week stay. The unit is very nice and the view of the gulf is phenomenal but the issues that we ve had make it difficult to justify the cost. I hold the condo unit owner and Royal Shell responsible for communication issues such as major construction in an adjacent unit during half of our stay.
