Very disappointing stay at Kempinski in Gozo. The hotel is very tired and shabby.
The staff although lovely and willing simply don't know what they're doing. The chambermaids left spiderwebs in the corners of the room and hairs in the bath.
There were no doormen on arrival so the taxi driver had to help me take my luggage in.
The check in is also very late- 3pm and Reception didn't offer me a tour of the hotel.
The waiters in the restaurant weren't attentive and couldn't serve properly.
The food at the restaurants wasn't great and the bistro terrace had flies everywhere. The buffet breakfast although plentiful was of very poor quality- the smoked salmon was very oily and tasted a bit off. The edges were all dried and clearly things had been sitting around a bit too long by 9am.
The hotel has small annoyances- you need a security card to get everywhere- through to the restaurant, tennis courts etc.
Also, in the spa you need to swap a 'towel card' for towels for the pools and sauna and you are only given one! You need to return the wet towels to the spa reception as well. The changing rooms were very shabby and the rhassoul wasn't working during my week's stay. In this respect this hotel was worse that the 3 star hotels I stayed in when on school trips which though budget didn't even do that.
The rooms themselves were sparse and not luxurious. Linens and bedding were of poor quality and the rooms were very noisy! This was partly down to other guests- the doors slammed shut if you let them go which could be heard right down the corridors. You can also hear people next door and above you.
I asked to change rooms after a very poor night's sleep and the Reception staff were very helpful and understanding. However, for a five star hotel they seemed surprised I asked them to move my things for me which I would assume was the norm. The bellboy then left my suitcase and a few smaller bits in my old bedroom which I had to go and fetch myself.
On the plus side, the Ayurvedic spa was good. The therapists were probably in the top 20% of hotel therapists I've tried. The wooden massage tables however were rather uncomfortable, especially of you are lying on your front.
This is definitely not a five star hotel in the traditional sense- or what is expected from the Kempinski Group. Compared to Kempinski Ciragan Palace for example it's worlds apart.

Dinner service was a bit of a disaster, no one of the servers was communicating with each other. Our canape dish was only cleared from the table after the main course. Slow on drinks, ordered drinks would arrive half way through the dish, and that with only 5 tables with 4 waiters, nice food though. Paid for our dinner same evening, but it was still an open bill the day after and was asked to pay again, told them twice i paid already but they couldn't find any proof. So I had to provide proof myself, in general bad communication. But the rest was perfect, nice area and view from the room.

The Kempinski is a splendid tranquil retreat amongst the rugged hills and dramatic coastline of the delightful island of Gozo. You come to the Kempinski to get away from it all, to isolate yourself, and to take breath. To some it may not be ideally located on the island but, as explained, its positioning should not be the primary reason for your visit. That being said it may be slightly out of the way but it is by no means out of the way on an island where everything is within a short drive. We enjoyed a wonderful stay and thanks must go to the exceptional staff who went above and beyond to help make our experience unforgettable. We would definitely return.

Beautiful location. We stayed in a suite facing the country. Huge balcony. Very quiet unless we opened the balcony door and were treated to the squeals and screams of children in the adult pool.

Staff appear to be reluctant to enforce the adult pool despite an amazing children s pool in an adjacent area.

Spa was very nice. Had an wonderful massage.

Food was very overpriced and frankly not up to par for the rest of Gozo. For example 25 for a continental breakfast but nearby restaurant delivers an amazing breakfast for less than 5. I m used to paying extra to eat at a hotel restaurant but I do expect the food to be at least as good as local restaurants.

Superb hotel. Exceptional breakfast. Most charming building. Elegant rooms. Leisure facilities with outstanding concert theatres situated in most beautiful natural gardens. Dedicated, most friendly Room services. The best Lady in Red ever.
Close to tourist attraction former azure window, Dwejra Bay as well as Craft Village. Department Store and Gharb Rangers Pub (delicious food) within walking distance.
Well connected (~ 20 mins.) by hotel shuttle and two bus routes with Gozo's capital Victoria. Very close to magnificent ta' Pinu. Abundance of possible excursions.

Loved the room - jr suite

Loved the room - jr suite
Water spa area - was a bit boisterous but fair for a family environment
Treatments - some.treatments felt rushed like they didn't want you there But the spa staff at reception made the extra effort to make us feel pampered.
Food - quality of breakfast - is tasty but the fry up section should really be more presentable and I mean the staff not the food and possibly more on the station and less hiding in the kitchen.
Quality of cafe/bar/lobby - food and drink - friendly / helpful / efficient and most of all attentive to not only your requested meals and choices but trys to offer best experience.(dietary requirements)

Nice atmosphere and very friendly and also helpful staff. Building in a mediteranian style with plenty of space. Rooms are also quite large. Every afternoon the personnel brings you water for the night to your room.
Well equipped fitness studio and indoor pools available.
There are multiple restaurants available in the hotel, in different styles and price levels.
I liked most the stunning breakfast with so many delicious offers in a really good quality, preferrable on the outside terrace when the weather is nice.
The only "fault" i could find was the TV has a really bad picture quality, but this was not important for me.
Overall a lovely stay and l'd like to come again.

Great place in general. The food and wine at all the restaurants is good and I would definitely recommend it for a romantic date. Also the service is top, especially Maria, she always makes our evening.

Have just come here for a few days over Easter and booked a junior suite with pool view for 160 euros per night. We are fans of the Kempinski chain and have already been to Tyrol, Slovenia and the Seychelles. Unfortunately, we are both quite disappointed with this hotel - compared to the other Kempinski properties, it comes in last place by far. In comparison with other 5-star hotels it also seems below average, although we have slept in much simpler and cheaper accommodations.

Everything looks very shabby, the upholstery and carpets are stained. Leaning lampshades, loose brackets, balcony chairs are falling apart. The room is generally quite bleak and has no flair. A cheap old flat screen TV that is way too small and with not really good reception. No coffee machine but an old kettle with instant coffee. By the way, we're still talking about a suite in a 5 star hotel ... At least the photographer who took the pictures for the website was very good. Extremely noisy at night, the doors of the other rooms slam so incredibly loud that the corridor shakes and you wake up from it - a soundproofing like in a GDR prefabricated housing estate.

The brilliant breakfast, for which the Kempinski houses are otherwise known, seems rather sad here and is really nothing special.

3 of 5 restaurants closed - during the Easter break? The service is friendly but slow and inattentive, or overwhelmed.

A lot of little things that are simply annoying all together. If this were a 4-star hotel for 90 euros a night, it would be ok - in this case it was definitely the last time in this hotel. Thank god only three nights ...

If you really want to see something great, we recommend the Kempinski in Tyrol - every now and then for 150 euros p.p. and get night and a blast.

Great 5 star hotel on the island of Gozo. The resort is set in a Mediterranean landscape and is within walking distance of the former landmark of Gozo "Azure Window". Especially the first-class service of the employees convinced us and proves once again the strength of Kempinski. Thank you for this great holiday. We will be back.

I rarely write reviews, however you must give credit where it is due.
This hotel is easily and by far the best one I have ever visited, everything was absolutely perfect, every single staff member were extremely polite and helpful, the room view was gorgeous, the standards were fantastic and they had everything you could possibly need.
This hotel made my trip and experience of Malta infinitely better, and was worth every penny. I am considering coming back to Malta for this hotel! And I would recommend everybody to visit Kempinski to make their trips that much more special and memorable.

Very nice, but the hammam a disappointment for a hotel like this, I'm talking about where you take the steam bath.

For the rest very good, staff generally welcoming.

Beautiful outdoor and indoor pools.

Hotel to recommend.

Beautiful location and nice hotel is not the most beautiful kempinski I have seen because of the structure a little dated but with Mediterranean charm, it has 3 swimming pools two outside and one indoor with wellness area, the water in April was very cold and not I could bathe. Restaurant and breakfast of good quality friendly and helpful staff excellent location recommended.

I always use it when staying at Gozo. We upgraded to deluxe room this time.
Although it is a little away from the city area, the movement is easy because the whole island is not large. There is a craft village within walking distance, and you can get Silva accessories, Gozo lace and leather goods at a low price. Now, Azure Window is also nearby.

Nice hotel but a bit isolated. Public transport is good and cheap so that helps. Outside pools are plentiful but very cold. Hotel benefits from an indoor spa and pool. Rooms are a generous size and bathroom was great. Service can be a bit haphazard.

Wonderful Hotel, close to some important sights and on the Hop On/Hop Off Tourist Bus.
Breakfast is amazing and Dinner is excellent.
Staff are mostly young Europeans; mostly warm and friendly, but inexperienced in the main, especially at Breakfast (I.e. will not clear plates away from table without being asked, do not offer coffee to all tables frequently enough).
Gardens & plants need more attention.
Excellent Spa, my wife & I had our best Deep Tissue Massage ever!
Rooms are spacious and quiet. The bed a little on the hard side, but we are sleeping well.
First class heating & air conditioning.
Housekeeping is very good.
We spent another week here this time and had a wonderful experience.
