I had a really bad experience with a nurse/coordinator, her name is Mary Rodrigues. She suppose to help me to schedule a day for my colons-copy, but instead of helping me, she actually gave me an order for the date, and when I asked if there is another time for my schedule, her answer was so rude, basically she was telling me, take it or leave it. She also told me that she is not gonna send me a hard copy of preparation instruction, she said she will send everything to the CVS so that when I pick up my medicine I will also have the instruction from the CVS. Today when I pick up the medicine, the CVS pharmacist told me that they don't have that instruction, I should have it from my Dr.

Now, I called and left 2 messages with another nurse, but she never called me back.

I don't know what to do at this point, and next Friday, I have to go see the dr. and they will put me in sleep for the colons-copy. Can you believe it, no one telling me what to do with that medicine.

It is a super joking situation.

The staff is exceptionally nice but there are problems: Parking is next to impossible. If you can find a place in the structure, it is free for the first two hours then $8 a day. Period. Even if you are only a few minutes over and had spent 20 minutes finding a place. There are only a few handicap spots and they are almost always full. There is no other available parking except for some street parking a couple of blocks away which is almost always full and quite a hike up a hill to the medical center. Impossible for a wheelchair. Keck really needs to do something about the parking problem.

Also, when my husband had a procedure recently, we arrived as scheduled at 5:30am. The operation didn't begin until 10am. It ended at 2:30pm. It was 11:30pm before a room became available. Meanwhile I had waited and waited for hours. With my bad back I couldn't get comfortable. Finally when we were given a room there was no place for me to sleep (although I'd been told by the doctor's office that there would be a fold out recliner) so I ended up on two hard wooden chairs tied together with my belt, end on end, by me with pillows on top. That lasted two nights! Apparently room availability is problematic. Although I was allowed to stay, it was not as welcoming as other hospitals we'd been in in the past who provided cots for a family member and sometimes even a fridge. We had to bother the staff for what should have been available items like Ice water, towels, etc. Also the cafeteria, the only place to purchase food, is very expensive. A packaged peanut butter and jelly sandwich was almost $5, so bring your own food. Hospital stays are never pleasant but only the niceness of the staff made this one bearable.

I ve been here a few times with my mother who had Appointments there. The place is beautiful and very clean. The staff is very professional and friendly. Today was my mother s surgery and it all went well. Dr. McFadden came to talk to us after the surgery and explained everything about the procedure and that she was doing good. We had to wait a while to see her because they had to monitor her and make sure she was ok . She will be there for a few days and I know she is in great hands. Wonderful hospital, great staff, some helped us find our way even when not asked, just heard us talking out loud,! and even the workers in the cafeteria were very nice.

April 2016, Aortic Valve Replacement + last minute finding of 3 vessel cabbage by Dr V Starnes and his team led me to be impressed not only by the superior leadership on the OR but the quality nursing staff through the healing process. Dr Starnes leaves nothing undone and has the best surgical hands in the business. Traveling from Montreal to KECK Medical Center and Dr Starnes was a life saving decision I will never regret. Like my friend says, "I'll Be Back"!

There's a parking structure, but the bottom floors are reserved for physicians so patients have to park on the top floor. My 4 year old is scared of heights so it was not fun going down the steep, concrete, and caved in stairs from the tenth floor. But pediatricians Dr. Wyatt and Dr. Tejeda are absolutely awesome!!!

Good

I have only good things to say about the hospital staff, doctors and service. I was put at ease from day one and all procedures were handled with expertise. It helped me recover faster than usual.
Thank you USC.

WOW ! My wife and I have never been more impressed about a hospital than this one!

My son in law had a 9 hour surgery and EVERYONE working there was just wonderful , from the nurses to the security guards and of course the DOCTOR , ALL were just professional and very helpful under the circumstances and took time out to help my daughter to be calm.

The pregnant girl working the desk was awesome, she had Finnished her shift and had left only to come back to help my daughter find a motel that she felt she would feel comfortable and secure going to and the security guard also came over and helped with this , both showing REAL interest in my daughters needs, WHO DOES THAT?, they did!

I just can't say enough about our experience other than it was one of the best we experienced under the stressful circumstances!!!

The dermatologist my daughter saw was incredible. She was very caring and treated her with respect. She was aware of all the current treatments and was able to successfully treat her when all others failed.

I am Magine they have done a lot of good but when I was there and I was supposed to be treated and I was suffering in so much pain I could not even imagine ever being there they were so nice but my insurance of Medi-Cal didn t go through the first time instead of checking for mistakes I was treated as a vagrant and would you please go away and stop bothering us very disappointed in which I was hoping would ve been a much better experience.

My friend went to ER with a broken jaw. After taking X-Rays - his jaw is broken on both sides - and they discharged him with an appt for surgery the next day. His insurance was declined, so they refused to do his surgery. He can't eat or drink, and has bone splinters jutting out through his gums! Keck Hospital is a public hospital, and it is malpractice to refuse treatment to a patient, emergency or not, regardless f insurance or ability to pay.

I love the Dr's here but have do NOT like the hospital staff. I had a very bad experience when one of my major organs was cut on accident during surgery about 2 or 3 years ago, sent home with no knowledge of internal bleeding! Yikes! Nursing staff in hospital I believe were to blame...very rude, non attentive, over staffed, did not listen to patient concerns and pain levels. One year later I end up back there, different Dr, different surgery...another mistake! This time huge blood clot across abdomen, nursing staff didn't notice until I was being released to go home and passed out on floor...turned out, needed 2 blood transfusions! Again, nursing staff not listening to patients concerns and needs...nurses too interested in moving patients out quickly instead of making sure that they are stable! Don't let a patients age fool you! Just because someone is young...that does NOT mean that they are healthy! If a patient is telling you that they have a certain health issue, do not assume that they do not know what they are talking about just because they are younger then the average person with that particular health issue! When a patient tells a nursing staff about their own health issues or that something is wrong it's because they as a patient are familiar with and know their own body enough to know when something is not right...this is because they have experienced "health issues" before! Please listen to your patients! I almost lost my life twice at this hospital due to simple mistakes that were overlooked by people that were in too big of a hurry! Staff members trying to quickly move on to the next, treating me like I was just another number...thank God, if I hadn't had my mom with me both times to get the nurses attention, I'd be dead! The hospital needs new nursing staff!

This review is for Carlo Saba the Ambassador parking manager. My husband had to make a medical trip from Las Vegas to Keck. We were in our motor home so you can imagine how stressful it was when we got to the hospital. Carlo stepped in and walked all over the parking lot until he found a place for us to park. He is a shining star employee. It was so nice to run into a kind thoughtful person in such a stressful situation. Three cheers for Carlo. We love him!
