I have not had the problems that other reviewers seem to have had. The people I have spoken to have for the most part been able to help me solve the issue. One thing, is be nice to the customer agent. It is tough dealing with complaints all day long. Yes, the bills are high and water hasn't tasted good for some time , but it could be worse.

I called in because I had an $875 bill. It was due to a running toilet after our house was broken into when we were out of town. The lady that I spoke with not only helped me with payments but also told me about a leakage adjustment that I could apply for. She was very helpful.
I owed the water department alot of money, they quit billing me, and it added up to alot. In March this was identified, and a letter was sent saying they needed 30 days to figure out what to do. Today they shut me off I have still not received a bill or any notice of dept. On the phone I was told I would need to come up with 50 percent of the dept prior to re activation. They have inconvenienced and disrespected my family and it was not necessary all they had to do is send me a bill. But instead they were very small people, KC deserves better, and I deserve an apology.
Horrible experience, had an $1100 bill due to a running toilet on the rental property I reside on customer service is so ghetto. So I was told they would put a hold on my bill for 30 days after my property replaced the toilet, they said they would evaluate the bill and give an adjustment these people sent me a bill within a week!! Of my toilet being replaced and only forgave $150 of the bill.. I called and requested to speak with the manager about them not holding my bill for a cycle and only forgiving $150 I was placed on a 20 minutes hold then the rep came back on and said the manager will not take the call and to take up the rest of problem my rental property and they told me they did not have to do anything and the $150 adjustment should be seen a charity ! Horrible I hate the water services
On 3/18/2021 we called for water to be shut off for repairs, and was told that it could not happen until 3/19. We were told we would receive a call before they came. Our plumber had to leave the job on 3/18 due to the fact that he could not proceed until water was shut off. Later the same day, we discovered water had been turned off. And our plumber could not return until the next day. The water was shut off the day before we were told it would be, with no call. After repairs were done the next day, 3/19, I called to have water turned on. Again, I was told that we would be called prior to the turn on, and that the water Dept employee would be knocking on our door to make sure all was ok before they left the premises. We never got a call, but I noticed out our window a water Dept van, and thought he would come knocking. He got out of his van, went to the back of it, and proceeded to wash his hair ( I am not making this up). He poured multiple water bottles over his hair, made sure he looked good, got in his van and left. I immediately checked to see if the water was on, and it was. In the end our repairs are done, the water is on, but neither for the shut off or turn back on of our water did the KCMO Water Dept employee do what we were told by the phone staff that they would do. No prior phone calls, without water overnight with no warning, and no courtesy check after it had been turned back on. For $60 shut off fee, and a $60 turn on fee, I would expect more. Frankly these fees are highway robbery.
Terrible customer service. I'm just trying to connect an account with my home on KC Water site. They get the address wrong after reading it off correctly 3 times in a row. Just pure negligence. When I call back in to have it fixed I wait on hold 3 separate times to get to the right person. Give these employees some proper customer service training and skills.
Listing the only good first. In yr here no bills received mail, email, can't access online--last rep jumped in & got one sent, so great! Other reps multiple calls: shouted at me, hung up, cut me off, I'm wrong, etc. Have lived all over US, never saw anything close. More: last domicile Phoenix AZ, had pool when bought the house but chg landscaping to desert plants, severe in family there, very water careful. Here kids grown, gone, live in condo, no dishwasher use, redoing bath & have no shower at present, use bath water to flush toilet, take car elsewhere to wash. Incredible, but water bill 2/3 of bill in Phoenix? with the pool, some outdoor use, dishwasher & kids? Of course checked toilet. Nope, no problem. Still stunned. Still, also, don't know if will have to jump thru hoops to get my bill next month!!!!
I'd give negative stars if it were an option!! KCMO WATER COMPANY SHOULD BE PROSECUTED!! THEY BREAK EVERY LAW AND IGNORE THEIR BLATANT LACK OF COMPLIANCE OF THEIR OWN CODES!! I SOLD MY PROPERTY AND AM LEAVING THE ENTIRE AREA!!! I HATE THIS CITY NOW!!!
