Steve did an amazing job from start to finish. He was able to satisfy all our needs and get us home in a new 2017 Chevy Traverse. Ray did a great job with the paperwork! Both these guys stayed late to help us out. We are from Minnesota but will definitely be back due to the amazing experience we had. Thanks Karl Chevrolet!!!!

Whether you want a new or a used car, Chris Brunk is the guy to see. Told him we were just looking, and didn't try once to get us to sign papers (no, really, we were freaked out by it too). Knowledgeable, informative, gave us honest opinions about different models; even ones they didn't have on the lot. Very patient, let us try a dozen cars without worrying that we weren't buying that day. Bought a car from him later, everything went as smoothly as car buying can. Worked with us to get the best deal, worked a few thousand off the sale price for us.

Karl Chevrolet is quick to cold call attempting to drum up business. With that provided, after going into the dealership to look at a trade, we talked numbers. Because the finance side had just left for the night, the team leader provided they would call me in the morning to see if they could make the deal. Regardless if we are able to make the numbers work, not have the professionalism to call after saying you were going to is unacceptable. Thankfully there are a plethora of dealers around.

I was internet shopping for a used Silverado 3500. I found exactly what I was looking for at Karl Chevrolet. Being from New York it had to be worth making the trip. Salesman Devin Hamilton was very honest, sincere, and answered every single question I had. He made the purchase of the truck long distance very smooth and simple. Not physically seeing the truck I put my trust in him, the dealership, and made the trip. Devin picked me up at the airport, drove me to dealership and the truck was everything I expected. For a used truck it looked like it just rolled off the assembly line inside and out. Very pleased, and worth the trip!! Thanks

We bought a brand new 2021 trailblazer and was happy with our purchase. This is the first brand new car ever purchased by me or my wife. The experience was good until the car shut down on the interstate at 72 mph. If you put yourself in my shoes you can imagine how happy I was. The salesman and the service department were great to deal with. The issues I have is the dealership as a whole didn't really seem to care to much based on how they handled the inconvenience of the problem. They are supposed to be number one in customer service but I believe they could have done more for us. It is what it is and done and over with. Thanks

Extremely friendly employees! Great service! We got right in to get oil change. They offered us bottled water or coffee while we waited in our car. They even took off license plate cover and put on our license tab. Another great experience by the Karl Chevrolet staff! Thanks so very much!

The body work was fantastic! I couldn t ask for better.
The detail work after the fact wasn t too fantastic.
When I picked up my truck, there was a white film left all over the interior, as if whatever chemicals they used to detail it was left on. They also left a scratch in the tinting of the upper corner of the passengers window.
I work and go to school full time, so finding time to bring it in for the tinting is difficult. But they DID call and discuss it and are willing to fix it, so...
All in all, it was a great experience.

Bought a brand new 2017 Silverado from this place about 3 months ago and have had nothing but problems with the same thing I've took it into there service department 7 times and my problem still exists with just over 2000 miles on it now they wanna replace the whole rear end of my truck from the driveshaft back pretty ridiculous the rear kicker is they don't even know when they can do it so now I'm just stuck I guess driving my truck that sounds like it's gonna fall apart over every little bump worst new car experience ever

I worked with Mike McNeley on getting a new Chevy SS, he was great. Very attentive, knowledgeable, easy going, and made the whole new car shopping experience amazing. That goes for the entire Karl Chevrolet Team that helped in the transaction. From Mike to Paul in Finance, and Brandon in deliveries who spent time after the dealership closed to make sure I was comfortable using all of the new features in my new car. I could not be more pleased with the entire experience. They have gained a customer for life, I wouldn t dream of buying a car elsewhere. You are crazy if you don't give them a shot at your business, they will definitely earn it.

Karla is one of the few places in Des Moines area ...

Karla is one of the few places in Des Moines area with an automatic way for dually a pick up. They have people on staff running the automated tellers and pre-washing and scrubbing vehicles prior to the automated wash.

Not a great way but when you own a dually, any automated wash is welcome.

I bought a used vehicle from karl chevrolet which ended up Having all kinds of electrical issuesand costed me all kinds of time and money and mark vangorkum a used car salesman I was working with told me there was nothing they could do because I would be too far upside trading it back in so I talked to karl n he sent me to his son bret so they traded me in to a different truck which I then took it in to get serviced and once I left the dealership after having it serviced and my tires rotated my tire came flying off and hit 2 other vehicles And it got put on my carfax as an accident and now Im trying to trade my vehicle off and I can't get my full trade in value And my truck is worth less money because of this carfax and accident and karl Chevrolet will do nothing about it

The service and sales at Karl's Chevrolet is fantastic. We have purchased three new Tahoes from Tom Hilderbrand. He is so helpful, friendly and he always makes sure that our wants and needs are met with complete satisfaction. We dealt with Wesley Hilderbrand for the first time. He was so helpful, friendly and accommodating. He carefully went over all details of how to run our new Tahoe, making sure that I understood everything. Both of these men go above and beyond to make sure that their customers are satisfied, comfortable and happy with their purchases. Mr. Gaumer, who helped us in the finance department was also very helpful and considerate, making sure that we understood our warranty options and everything concerning our vehicle. I would recommend Karl's Chevrolet, their entire staff and the Hilderbrand's to anyone who needs to purchase a new car.

So yesterday I visited the Certified car lot and met with Mark. I was just looking to get my car appraised and possibly look at getting a different vehicle because I was in need of something more dependable and just more me. Aside from Mark being the first salesman to make me feel so comfortable, he sat and answered all the questions I had. He listened to my story and helped me figure everything out. After we appraised my car and also found something I was interested in as a replacement, he then had me sit down with another very nice man named Pete. At this point we were figuring out what we could do as far as getting my payments somewhere close to what I wanted them to be and all that finance stuff. Just like Mark, Pete sat with me and understood my situation and they both just wanted to do whatever they could possibly do to help me and have me leave a happy girl. Without getting into too much more detail, Mark and Pete and also the manager(I believe) whose name is Chad, all got together and made it happen for me. I m certainly no one special but all 3 of these men treated me as if I was and did something to special to me to make me feel better. I went in there expecting good customer service but nothing like this. And although I just went in for an appraisal, I can honestly say this was SUCH a good decision and I in no way regret it. Thank you so much guys for being so cool and helping someone out when you don t even know them. Seriously people if you re looking for good deals and amazing people to work with, ask for these guys.

Was told on Friday that it would be a while due to a shortage of technicians. Wife then came in to get her oil changed on Monday and they only had half the shop up and running due to shortage. Talk about poor work ethic. Some of these technicians are stand up people and I appreciate their hard work. Management on the other hand, pull you head out of your a** and make some adjustments so you have people there.

Last year I was looking for a Syngery Green Metallic Camaro.....the local dealer in my town wasn't able to locate one, so I googled what I wanted and that's when I found Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA. It wasn't long and I was on the phone with Jake Nading, from Karl Chevrolet talking about my dream car. The car had originally been sold and for some reason that person backed out on the deal. Jake called me back and asked if I was still interested and I was almost in tears because I had been searching for this car, this color for a while and now it was going to be mine. I got off of work at 4 PM on 9/11/12 and my daughter and I headed over to Ankeny from Bloomfield, NE. We arrived late that evening and checked into our hotel....could barely sleep because I was soooo excited. First thing the next morning, we drove across the road to Karl Chevrolet and met my hero, Jake Nading. When Jake showed me the car there was no doubt in my mind that it was mine. The staff at Karl Chevrolet was very helpful throughout the process. Jake and I went through the car from top to bottom, inside and out, under the hood clear to the trunk, checking out the whole car; so I would know everything about it. I would highly recommend Karl Chevrolet to anyone looking for a new or used vehicle. They truly value their customers and take the time to help you find the right vehicle for you!

I went in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. They found a nail in a tire and patched it right there. It took a little longer than I intended, but the free hot chocolate and friendly staff made for an enjoyable experience. I love that the service comes with a free car wash too. I'll keep coming back!

The sales person was not going to listen even for a minute about how much I needed the vehicle. Not very good PR.. I guess I assumed Karl was in business of making customers happy and to make money- I guess it has to be "new vehicle" money and happiness..

I bought a corvette here 10 years ago, the salesman was great and I got tires for life, a good deal and friendly service. I went back this month to look for a new car, but it seemed like all the salesmen were to busy to help and when I finally did get one the car I wanted to see was sold 2 days before, they hadn't taken it off the website. Was told they don't do tires for life anymore except on some new cars. We eventually found a similar car and drove it but they would not make any deals and said the price is what it is. Did not buy a car, probably won't go back again.

In the years of purchasing vehicles that ranged from Arkansas , Mississippi, North Carolina, Missouri, Tennessee and now Iowa nothing and I truly mean NOTHING can even come close to my experience at Karl Chevrolet. It all started with Alex Buck, who didn't treat my family and I as a customer but as a friend who cared for us. When I called about my vehicle not meeting my expectations, the Sales manager stated 'Mr.McCord you will leave here satisfied', we all hear this at times but are hesitant on these words. The team at Karl Chevrolet that had a hand in dealing with truck for sure are a team of their words!! I hear the slogan 'Your Dealer for Life' and now I know what that means, and yes they are now my dealer for life!! Thank you Alex, Mike, Service department, and most importantly Mr Karl.

We have purchased two vehicles from Bill Stone in the Karl pre-owned area and also referred my parents to him. Bill makes buying a car an easy, seamless and positive experience in every aspect. We told him what we needed in a vehicle, he listened and asked great questions and then showed us outstanding solutions. Additionally, he went above and beyond by assuring that all aspects of the cars passed the Karl standard and were in excellent condition when we picked them up. We have never experienced customer service or quality of this level when purchasing a vehicle... Bill has certainly earned our business and we will use Karl Chevrolet for all future car purchases.

This is the second vehicle I purchased from Karl in the past six months. I used Tom Hildebrand both times because he is one hellva salesman. He listens to me, treated me very fair, and was there to answer every question I had. Both times I had Brandon Williams help me understand my vehicle to a point I was comfortable drive off the car lot. Brandon was very respectful and never rush me. Brandon made sure I had a good solid understand of the vehicle. Karl will be my dealer for life and I will recommend family and friends to buy vehicles from Karl.

I brought in my Equinox for an oil change, tire rotation, check on a rattle and follow up on the oil leak I was told about last time. After waiting several hours was told you needed to keep my vehicle overnight to reseal the oil pan, that it needed several hours to dry. It would be ready the following day. I brought it in at 9am on Sept 4. The following day I heard nothing from you. At 2pm I called & was told you needed to order a part & it wouldn't be there until Tues because of the holiday. I asked for a loaner & was told none were available. So, I was without a car 6 days. On Tuesday I again had to call around 1pm and was told the supervisor had to do a test drive. I finally got a call at 2:48pm saying it was ready. I am NOT happy with the way the whole thing was handled. I was NOT happy I was without my vehicle for 6 days and over a holiday weekend. It makes me think twice about bringing it back. Someone dropped the ball all the way through. Customer service was not met.

I loved the service department. Scheduled oil change on line. Had no issues getting a shuttle and getting picked up. The issue I did have with the service department is trying to get help to order accessories. I have aftermarket hubcaps that are rattling and I wanted to get replacement ones or just order rims. The technician referred me to the service counter who referred to a different location. I called the location and they referred me to a web site because the ones on the show room floor are for trucks and once I pick the rims they would help me and get me a quote. I just feel even after I explained I really had no idea what he was talking about on how to order rims and being nervous ordering the wrong size that maybe I could have had a little more personalized experience. I know I should educate myself but they are the professionals and its money that I was willing to spend thinking that was the professional and personal experience Karl offered.

Had my '16 Chevy Trax die as I driving by! I pulled in, told them I was literally leaving for S.D. and they helped me, NO CHARGE! (also 15 mins before closing time on a holiday weekend!)
I ended up back in 3 weeks later and my mystery problem was solved and repaired for about $300.

The staff is very nice, however; I was highly dissatisfied with the purchase I had made. For the past 2 years I have been to the service facility almost every month for multiple issues with the vehicle. From the window coming off of the roof, to the window bursting out when I let the roof up, the roof leaking, rattling windows and the countless other issues. It will definitely be the last time I make a purchase from Karl's Chevrolet.

Im still at the service center for the 3 time, to get serviced. 1st time this morning said it would be a hr, i had to leave 1 1/2 hr later hadnt even moved toward the door, come a couple hrs later said it would 3 hrs so i left come back 2 hrs later, said it would be a 1 1/2 ok lets try this again. It has now been 2hrs. Do beleave i will be finding someplace else for service.

We used to live in Ankeny and Karl's was our go to...

We used to live in Ankeny and Karl's was our go to location for our regular service. The staff was always polite and accommodating. I would like to clarify I have not bought a vehicle from these guys, just have had my service performed here.
My first major experience with Karl's blew me away these guys I felt went above and beyond to help me. Back round story, I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado and had driven out of town and on my way home I had a engine reduced power mode and a few other service light issues. My heart had sank and so I pulled over to the side of the road on the interstate and turned my vehicle off. Gave it about 10 minutes and everything appeared to be ok. I merged back onto the interstate and got back up to speed and it happened shortly after that again, so again I pulled over and turned my vehicle off. I called Karl's Chevrolet on the phone because I knew they were a certified dealer and they referred me to one of their mechanics. He knew the problem right away and told me that it was a dirty mass air flow sensor and to keep my speed at 55 mph or lower and it shouldn't shut down. So I did as he said and I limped it home from just north of Ames all the way back to Ankeny. I had just got done with 2nd season deer season so it was getting close to Christmas and I had plans. They did not think that they would be able to get me in, however, to my surprise they pulled a rabbit out of the hat and were able to fit me in last minute. The best thing was it was all covered under warranty!! Then the icing on the cake, I received a free car wash!!
After that they earned my business. I usually will go through the quick lube service bay. I usually wait in my vehicle throughout the whole process (because I am a bit OCD about my vehicles) but the staff there had no problems with it. I have gone in on a few of my services and the waiting room was always clean. They have a great drink selection and if you are busy and want to drop your vehicle off they offer a shuttle service as well. This came in handy from time to time. Again, staff has always been polite. Some days they can get busy and backed up a little bit but this comes really at no surprise for the service they provide. I ask future costumers to just please plan accordingly and give them the time they need they do quality work and bust there hump to get you in as soon as possible.
I have also had to unfortunately visit the body shop of their's as well (not my fault, just wanting to clarify). They were very professional, however, the parts that they had to repair/replace had either gotten lost or misplaced. Which they admitted to and were very polite about, they gave me a rental on them till they could the issue sorted out and my vehicle completed. They fixed it within an appropriate amount of time. I also appreciated them owning up to their mistake (which is a rare quality to find in business this size these days I believe). This business has gone above and beyond for me and I have no doubt that they will for you too! They get my upmost confidence!!
