Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe Review

Truly a nice restaurant in downtown Portsmouth. We went there before a show, and enjoyed our food, had attentive service and nice atmosphere.

My friends and I can to Jumpin jays this evening. It was not exactly what we expected. This was restaurant week in Portsmouth and a number of key items unapolegeticallly were unavailable both on the promotional menu and their regular one.

My friend ordered food where the server was not clued in to what was available and he was told nearly 10 min later the order has to be modified.

I don t think the communication was going very well either. In thatn owsome of the smaller menu itemswn can out well that you have

I went here for restaurant week and was thoroughly unimpressed. The steak and brussel sprouts were seriously burnt. The service was slow. The dessert was not at all appetizing. I ended up paying $30 for a meal I would rather have gone without.

As always, everything is spot on. It just doesn't get much fresher and tastier.

Mediocre everything with a faux finish. I wouldn't ever come back here.

There wasn't anything wrong...not one thing. Service, food, beverages superb. I will definitely be back. Thanks so much for a perfect dining experience.

Jumpin Jay's is THE place to go for an excellent meal. My husband and I have been several times and the service is always impeccable, the food to die for and the ambiance is just perfect for a special occasion. But please don't try it so that we can get a reservation whenever we desire :).

Every town has that one place where everything on the menu is the best food in town. This is that place. Run...don't walk...to Jumping Jays.

This is one of our favorite Portsmouth restaurants and always for any special occassion or visitors. Always fresh and perfectly done seafood and ample portions. Shuck-A-Buck Oyster seasonal oyster nights are appreciated (oops, I probably shouldn't have let that out)

Ordered surf and turf steak was ok the lobster was the meat from the seafood bisque also ordered the bisque no meat in it guessing the surf and turf was a big seller not worth half the money!

Ahhhh what a find on a beautiful day. Made reservations about an hour in advance and walked around downtown while waiting.

Atmosphere was fun and perfect (lights dimmed) and service was great with essays and runners. Food is a little pricey but the environment makes it worth it.

Will be back!

Great food! Had the haddock and it was very well done.

Absolutely outstanding. Our server, Bridget, was so pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly, and the entire wait staff was super-attentive. It was truly remarkable how well they worked together as a team to provide a fantastic service experience. Oh, by the way, the food was delicious as well!! Definitely recommend.
