Mather Hospital 'inadequate discharge' : "Let's send the finally diagnosed schizophrenic home, after not getting to a therapeutic dosage. To unstable housing with no ability to use his walker in my house, due to size with stairs and me sleeping on my sofa." This is by far the worst care I have ever experienced with Mather Hospital at Northwell Health. #PTSD #abusesurvivor #suicidalawareness #hospitalfailure #schizophreniaawareness #mentalhealthmatters #inadequate #BeThe1To #AdultProtectiveServices
I've been neglected in my request for assistance, for my brother, since the unstable patient signed paperwork that was never provided in his discharge; Patient Bill of Rights was also missing. When we tried to speak with a patient advocate she would not let me or my mother speak, she just spoke over each us restating the discharge plan and call to adult protective services. #rude #disrecptful #uselesspeople #matherhospital #northwellhealth

Yesterday my wife experienced difficulty breathing so I brought her to Mather Hospital mid morning. She was attended to right away and she said all the people and especially the Nurses were wonderful. They kept her overnight doing several tests and giving her a few pints of blood . Today she came home feeling much better. She was given the option of staying another day for more tests or go home and see a specialist for another test . She was glad we went to Mather .

I go into the ER complaining of pain all over originating from the spine and the fact that I hadn't slept in days because of it and as soon as they got to my medication list and saw that I was on meds for bipolar, their demeanor changed and they stopped listening. They were on their own agenda and the only person that actually wanted to speak to me was from billing. I had an NP tell me that the ER was not a place to get a diagnosis and I need to find a better GP. So I left.

Then I get hit with a $2000 bill. I call public relations and complain about the treatment and they thanked me for bringing it to their attention but everything in the notes show the standard of care was met. I'm sorry... Were you expecting to find a note from the medical team about inappropriate comments or discrimination in my chart??

DON'T GO TO MATHER IF YOU HAVE ANY MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION... YOU WILL BE WRITTEN OFF DESPITE WHAT YOU CAME IN FOR AND HANDED A PADDED BILL WITH A SMILE

My husband had spinal surgery at Mather. He s due to be released sometime today. I couldn t be more pleased with the doctors, nurses, specialists, physical therapists, and literally EVERY other staff member I ve met over the past week. My husband has been treated in exemplary fashion, and I m so appreciative. We ve never had to go through anything like this, and I m so glad our first surgical experience was at this hospital. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you ALL!

If I could give less than one star, I absolutely would. Terrible bedside manner, and even more terrible service when attending to relatives of their patients. They're very indecisive with protocol and visitation. One moment they say it's alright to visit for a couple hours and the next they'll revoke it when they feel like it. They blame visitors for what the staff is suppose to be in charge of. Be more clear on your rules before you enforce them!

Absolute worst hospital never seen anything like it, they leave patients for HOURS UNATTENDED. Admitting process even slower, you are forced to wait in agony with noise ,bright lights, and staff conversations about dating websites. All while you are being neglected to get proper care

The nursing overnight staff is plain and simple LAZY.
I went in there with my son who is 5 years. At 4am. My son had a fever and I had been giving him Tylenol coughing. Couldn t sleep. When I went in there I ask the nurse if they could check his temperature and they refuse to. They then took me and my sons insurance information and took another patient he was after me in. I was very frustrated at this point because it had been about 20 minutes and still nobody care to check my sons temperature. As I was waiting. I ask them again if they could check my sons temperature AGAIN and they refused at this point I was frustrated to see that they just standing there talking to themselves. Like they don t take the health of their patients seriously especially children. Keep in mind my son has had a history of seizures and I reminded them of that and they just stood there when a nurse supervisor comes to me and tells me that I would have to wait a few minutes to be seen by a nurse. At this I got mad and left. It really doesn t take that long to take a child s temperature and you are not Going to break an arm doing so. Honestly they don t consider the health of a child seriously especially with this pandemic.I don t know what they are working in the health industry if they are only there to get paid and not to take patients well being a priority. Very upsetting.

This past April my Daughter and x Wife both caught covid. They both went to Mather Hospital where they were both given Monoclonal Antibodies. Today May 3rd they are both feeling good. Monoclonal = Miracle. They both said how the Nurses and Doctors were so good to them and treated them very nice. Thank you to all the Nurses and Doctors. May God watch over all the Nurses and Doctors at Mather Hospital and keep them safe.
