The BEST hot dogs I have tried. Excellent service and nice environment. Don't miss it!
If you think you know the Charlotte restaurant scene but have never visited JJs Red Hots, then you are missing out on one of Charlotte's best! It's a stones throw from uptown and after one bite of the Kasekrainer with a side of onion rings, I knew I would be back.... at least once a week!!! Aside from the best hotdogs or sausage you will ever taste - ANYWHERE, there is cold beer with great seating options inside, outside, and rooftop available. Don't be afraid to stop in and hit this place with friends who are visiting town. Young or old, you will not be disappointed. The prices are very reasonable (mostly sub $10) and service is fast (under 5 mins), especially for this side of town. There is decent amount of parking for cars. If you are driving a larger SUV or truck, you might want to look for street parking close by during the busy times. Sidenote: part of the building is historical - once called/in the shape of a drum. The remnants of it are fun and obvious. I'm already looking forward to my next meal there. Can't wait - you shouldn't either.
Great food and service, prices seem high for hot dogs and fries
The cashier today was the most positive person I've met in a long long time
Had a brat; no flavor at all. Brat tasted boiled and a put on grill just enough to get marks, no snap or crisp skin. Onion rings were good, as I am sure other items must have been judging by the crowd. But on this particular visit, the brat was disappointing.
First time there and everything was explained to me in detail Friendly staff.
Great food - regular visitor when we come to Charlotte
Also great service and great food - no surprises and the atmosphere is always clean.
Best hotdogs in town! Casual, fun atmosphere and great prices! Love, love, love this place!
I've stayed off posting during Covid because the joy of eating out was ruined for me. Well thank goodness for business trips! On the way home I was passing through Charlotte and googled best hot dogs in Charlotte...and I was blessed with this place! JJ's Red Hots is amazing! My server recommended 2 dogs to me and I got my usual trash can. One was a "Big Mac" hotdog and the other a bacon queso masterpiece! If you are passing through and need something to eat, you definitely have to stop in and try their hotdogs!
Jonathan is awesome to work with! We had the honor of hosting JJ s Red Hots at the Hendrick Luxury Auto Mall for Friday lunch and it was a big hit! Looking forward to many more lunches! Thank you for the partnership, Jonathan!
My favorite hot dogs (especially their Coney). Really good sides now too. Everytime I'm in Charlotte I come here.
Would be five stars if they didn't mess up my order AND forget to hand me my beer. Had to ask for the correction. Come on guys it's hot dogs not Michelin star rated French cuisine haha. Freaking amazing dogs though.
I told myself I would never go to JJ s because I don t believe in eating overpriced hot dogs but when it was national hot dog day I decided to give it a try since it was only $2. That being said...I still wouldn t spend $2 on their hot dogs! My dog was completely burnt and the bun was way too small for it. I m still very confused why it was completely black. Literally tasted like charcoal. Is that what charbroil is?i think what upsets me most is that this East Boulevard location is PRIME and such a waste going to an overpriced hot dog place. They have an awesome roof top patio that I could have sat at for hours but then I remembered I was at a hot dog testaurant and that they were closing at 9...what a waste of a good location. Hope they go out of business so we can get a cool roof top bar on the block that stays open late.
The food was pretty good and the staff was friendly. I had the Italian Sausage with onion rings, my only gripe was that the cashier didnt mention that kids eat free (on Wednesdays). I had my nephew with me, who initially didn't want anything (but I would've made him get something if I knew he could eat for free) but once he saw my food he changed his mind. When I go to order him something this is when I I notice that the menu says kids eat free and when I mention this to the cashier, I'm told that you have to place the orders at the same time. I ended up paying for a meal that should've been free, which was disappointing.
Awesome place and you can't be $2 Tuesday (after 3pm).
I went to JJs on a Saturday and to my delight the wait wasn't long at all. The menu is catered to the hotdogs aficionado but there's a little something for everyone in the event that you don't want a hotdog from a hotdog reataurant. The decor was great complete with a hotdog cutout for kids to put their heads in for pics. Now to the food....I ordered an Italian sausage, a carolina hotdog and chili cheese fries (I was hungry and wanted to try a few things). The food came out and it was a lovely presentation that I didn't want to touch because of the beauty. I dove into the chili fries first. They were acceptable. I was hoping for a little more kick from the chili but still acceptably tasty. I then took a bite out of the Italian sausage. It was cooked perfectly but the sausage seemed to be missing something....these dogs were char grilled and I was hoping for more of a grilled smoky taste to it. I then moved to the Carolina dog. It was pretty good but, like the sausage, I was longing for more a grilled taste that I was only going to get in someone's back yard at a cookout. JJs Red Hots turned out to be like one of those movies where the trailer and commercials had all the best parts of the movie. If I'm in the area and hungry I will go there but I can't see myself going out of my way to get there. I will be looking for a cookout/bbq instead.
Always fast, fantastic onion rings, solid beef hotdog. Housemade pickle bar is a nice touch.
Love the atmosphere here. Great servers. Friendly faces. Delicious food.
The hot dogs and onions rings were okay . I will go back so l can tried there corn dog.
When my husband is able to meet me for lunch we always end to st JJ's since it's not too far from my office. I'm a creature of habit and always order The Char-Heel 2 dog combo. Chill, slaw, onions and mustard. Any time crinkle fries are on the menu, they're a must order die for me. Even if the line is long it moves quickly. My husband said they have the best Chicago dogs outside of Chicago itself.
They have something for everyone, even people that don't like traditional hot dogs.
Atmosphere: Very upbeat, great music!
Selection: Variety ! I like hiw they have a menu outside so you are prepared when you go inside as well as an electronic menu to read!
Location: They have covid 19 safely precautions in this establishment & spaced out for everyone
FOOD: BANGING! HOTT! FRESH! GR8 SELECTIONS! DELICIOUS
I enjoyed the experience from beginning to end!
This a great place for family or date night. Their hotdog selection is creative and tasteful. They have veggie and turkey hot dogs. You can get a jumbo beef dog. They offer chicken sandwiches aswell. They have wine and local craft beers. The restaurant has a old time rocker vibe and plays a variety of music from the 60s to the 2000s. They have tv, booths, hightops. This location was featured on the food Network. THE PRICES ARNT CRAZY. 4$ for a hotdog? It's no gas station one. Restaurants like doing that with hot dogs but guess what? Come in Tuesday and get your gourmet hotdog for 2$. They have specials for every day of the week. Enjoy
Great food spot in Charlotte. We found this place from the Diners, drive-ins & dines app.
I had the The Char Heel & the Whistle Pig with their onion rings.
Very tasty and now I think I like Cole slaw on my dogs.
Staff is friendly and free refills.
First time eating here was yesterday. Going back today. Staff was friendly and inviting
If you like hot dogs you need to come here! They are amazing! Plus they also have beer!
Over priced for what you get. the Coneys are good, but not 4 dollars each good. The daily specials make things realistically priced. Chili Dog was average (if overpriced) and the Brat was... thick.
Love JJ'S the carolina gig is awesome and so is the Joliet Jake Chicago dog. I eat here at least every 10 days. Always is a fast great place for lunch and their fries are great also.
Don t bother trying to do pick-up here if you are trying to not wait or avoid contact with others. You ll just get directed to wait in-line with everyone else who is walking up.
I m going to say this was different for me, great service but I read reviews before going and my mouth was watering but the quality wasn t good for me. Not hot but warm food. They were using the hotdog carriers and just wiping it off with a wet rag instead of actually washing it off because who knows the person before me could ve had ketchup and then they just wipe the ketchup off and not clean it the right way I could ve been allergic to ingredients in ketchup and if it wasn t thoroughly washed then it s a big issue. Other than that menu is great just get the sanitation to match!
I love the selection of Hot dogs they offer, being a new yorker hot dogs are life lol... But what JJs offers is a variety of quality brats and hot dogs.. Hard to determine a favorite.
PEOPLE OF WNY....yes this is what it looks like. Take Ted's....add some higher end menu items...throw in beer and wine and poof...you have JJ's. I got a sahlens dog with pimento cheese and bacon. I called it the civil war. North vs. south. But their menu has plenty of ready to go options. I also got a JJ's No. 1. Tasted like buffalo with Weber's mustard to boot! if you like a hot dog with a good snap, cooked over coals, this is the place!
Enjoyed this lunch spot very much. Great for kids, Pickle Bar was AWESOME!!! Not too expensive either.
Love JJ's! Good selection of dogs and the onion rings are heavenly!
The food was really good they also have this weird pbj and bacon contraption that is pretty good. Ps. just don't get tenders there not that great
The food is always great! It's been 3 years and they're still on top!
First time here from upstate NY. Great food and great atmosphere.
Good hot dogs and onion rings. I like the Carolina style hot dog.
Pretty disappointing. "beer cheese" looked and tasted like Kraft finely shredded cheese. Dogs were just ok. Staff was super friendly though, only reason I didn't give it two stars.
Went to JJ expeciting a great hot dog. What I got was a dog that looked like it had been on the grill too long and cold. The onion rings dripped with grease. My Daughter and I both were more than disappointed. I even sent a letter to JJs with no responce. Needless to say I will never go back I rate them right below . Well I dont know any place below what they put out as food.
Great place for a quick lunch with lots of hot dog and sausage options. Add onion rings and tater tots and Cheerwine and your whole day is made. Just don't tell your cardiologist. If he asks, tell him you had a salad - they have those at JJ's too!
Hot dogs are on point and the service is fast. Me and one other ate for $12 by getting the 2 dog combo and sharing a drink. We got the crinkle cut fries, they were pretty good, nothing amazing though. Orders came out fast. Only bad part is parking is bad.
Creative and delicious hot dogs, great service and great deals. One of my favorite lunch spots in Charlotte.
Fun place had great blues band when I was there , food was good service was also good .
Love JJ Red Hots! I ve been going here for a few years now and it never disappoints me. We love coming to this location and when it s nice outside the rooftop is very relaxing to be on. Friendly staff, clean restaurant and food is AMAZING! Cannot go wrong coming to JJ s.
Good Hotdogs! Was on Guy's Diners, Drive-In & Dives on Food Network. We saw it on T.V & went to Charlotte to try this place.
Not the best very disappointed Nathan's still the best Coney Island NY
I like hot dogs and this place sells them. It's a walk-up-to-the-counter restaurant with nice folks and plenty of options for dogs, toppings, kids, drinks, etc. Cool atmosphere that's laid back and fun.
The service was good, food okay nothing to write home about. But in honesty I feel it is over priced.
I had 2 Chicago dogs with onion rings. The dogs were overflowing with condiments, which overwhelmed the taste of the dog. The o-rings were a soggy mess of grease. I was really excited about eating here after seeing this restaurant featured on Triple-D. Unfortunately it didn't live up to Guy's review. Worst of all, I can't seem to get the smell of onions off my fingers!
Best hot dogs around! You have to go at least once a week so you can have their hot dog of the week. Each week they come up with a unique dog. The tater tots and onion rings are amazing too. Very friendly service and family oriented. You can't go wrong by eating at JJ's.
Every Tuesday for the last 6 years- this place and these people feel like home for our family at this point.
You can t go wrong when the food is great and the beer is cheap.
Totally unique hot dogs! Great flavor and a cool environment. It even has rooftop seating! $10 for 2 large dogs, a side and a drink! Can't be beat.
This place has essentially inspired me to try unique toppings on all my food. I've tried probably every type of dog and they are so delicious, dogs of the month/week are always fun and unique. And I've recently started venturing into the sausages, which are always amazing and surprising. And the sides are great too, even the 'what could be simple' pinto beans and deliciousified into Borracho beans. And of course the pickle bar! Only thing I'd change is to add in one of those touch screen coke machines to give more drink variety to go along with the food variety. 10/10 would double dog again.
My friend's dad owns this place! The food is delicious!!!
Consistent and quality customer service and food, definitely a place worth trying!
Everything is made in house. Their sides are awesome and their hot dog combinations are crazy creative. Try the rooftop seating; it's got a nice view. And a King of Pops popsicle stand is pretty much always there, which is a bonus!
Good food, decent prices. I like that it is counter serve. Men's restroom is super awkward. The urinal can be seen when the door is open and the stall door opens straight to the urinal so whoever is using it can see right through the crack in the door... who came up with that?
