JFK Medical Center Review

I would love to thank the following nurses for the extraordinary care I received during my stay on the 4th Floor observation and later admitted. Thank you Doreen who was floating that day Jennifer ,Suzie, Joane and I think I forgot one and I'm so, so sorry. The PCA were all terrific and always greeted me with a smile. I also want to thank Dr. Mohamed Moyenda for your excellent care. Thank you Tamara ARBP PCSI for taking the time to educate me.
I am very lucky to have JFK Medical Center a few miles away from home. Thank you all again for saving my life.

The nurses and PCA's were FANTASTIC. They really cared about your comfort level, were very attentive and all had great bedside manner. The doctor's were also great. The only complaint (and I understand) was the wait for an MRI. The doctor ordered an MRI for me mid-afternoon and I was not taken until the next day mid-morning. MRI was totally backed up, but once I was there, the test was quick and the results came back swiftly.

Did not have a got patient experience there. Seemed very disorganized. My nurse never checked on me and there wasn't any physician for a long time. Would not recommend, if you you have another option.

I had chest discomfort and although I live in Broward County, JFK was my destination simply because of the services and care given there. The ER was outstanding thank you to Taylor RN and Jose CHG RN. The 3 South staff took amazing care of me and never let me be in fear or have unanswered questions. Thank you to Tara and Courtney (RN) Nahomie and Pansy (Patient Care Assistants). Thanks also to Chris who was in charge and kept me updated. Super kindness on this visit and unless I need an ambulance I will continue to come to JFK Medical Center.

Was treated very carefully. My nurse Gregg was with me the whole day and never had to look for him. Thanks for your great treatment.

Nurses very nice . Room exceptionally clean. Big problem when calling for assistance staff need not to take more than 15 minutes to see what a patient is calling for.

Worst hospital, nurses and doctors are crap and take forever to help, thus costing you more days/money ..!! Go 20mins north to Palm Beach hospital, ten times better!

NO STARS I HAD TO GIVE ON TO MAKE A COMMENT. MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS HOSPITAL WAS LESS THAN PLEASANT. I WILL NEVER UTILIZE THEIR SERVICES AGAIN. I FEEL LIKE MY INSURANCE WAS BEING BLED DRY AND BEING CHARGED FOR TOP NOTCH HEALTHCARE WHILE I WAS RECEIVING SUB PAR CARE IN THE ICU UNIT, WHICH I WAS PUT IN DUE TO AN ERROR ON THEIR PART DURING MY SURGERY. I WILL DRIVE FOR AN HOUR FOR AN EMERGENCY ROOM BEFORE I WOULD EVER GO BACK TO JFK!!!!

Medicare gives this hospital one star for very good reasons! They took 3 days and two nights to decide my wife did not require treatment for he fall!!!

ICU was terrific. Our stay in surgical was less than ideal. I was left laying in my excrement for several hours and still have rash and pain in my backside.

I have had to go to ER twice recently. I was hospitalized as a result of my problems. The ER staff were efficient, amicable and very helpful. Nurses and aides on the ward cared a lot and visited frequently to see if I was ok. Doctors communicated with me about why I was taking certain tests and then gave me results, answering any questions I had. An aside, the food was pretty good.

Great hospital! 2 things!

I was there the past dec 8,for 3 days and I had the worst experience ever in a hospital. I got there with an urinary infection ( I knew this 3 days later through my OB) and they said a different diagnosis( endometriosis, which is ridiculous after 19 days of my c section), overtreated me with too many and aggressive antibiotics. After my horrible experience there. I developed postpartum depression. And took them forever to discharge me from the hospital, I had to leave the place under my responsability. Im still feeling panic of going back to that purgatory.

My injury was drug related and I had to have an emergency surgery to save my arm. They did the surgery and then housed me for almost a month with no insurance and did 3 surgeries, several mri s, ultra sounds etc. Dr. stone not only saved my arm but also followed up with me regularly and made sure that my arm was repaired to the best of his ability. I am forever grateful for the staff for putting up with me for weeks and to dr stone for fixing my arm. Thank you all so much. I was treated with respect and fed very well and medicated accordingly and I just really appreciate this hospital.

Great service and location (cleanliness, equipment, etc). Every person has been very useful and helpful thru this process.

My mother was admitted to this hospital and eventually passed there. While the nursing staff was frantic, unresponsive, and at times unprofessional, that was not my biggest issue. My biggest issue was the fact that all of my mother s things went missing. While her possessions were missing, I called and spoke to many members of staff, including floor and head nurses and three different security guards. Each member of staff assured me that not only did she not lose her stuff there, they had records that showed she came with nothing on her person.

Fast forward three months, they finally called me back to say her stuff had been at a random nurse station for months, and was somehow, now available.

Her clothes, purse, phone, all just sitting in JFK staff possession. They informed me that instead of using my contact or the emergency contact information for my mother, they decided to call the cell phone of the deceased (who died in their care, and they had her phone. So this place has proven to me that they will lie and deceive to cover up what is really happening. Still missing her jewelry, probably long gone and stolen by now.

I encourage everyone to not go here, and if you do, leave EVERYTHING valuable at home and don t let them get their hands on it. Interesting how I received a report that she came with nothing when in-fact all of her things were just In your staffs possession, I won t get an answer, but that s what I ve learned to expect fro this place.

Highly responsive hospital and staff. Surgical section from pre-operative preparation to recovery was excellent: Higly trained medical professionals with kindness and compassion for patients; Registered Nurses Foley in pre-op and Valerie in Pac U were extremely kind and thoughtful before and after my surgical procedure. Highly trained medical doctors: Dr. Rosen and Dr. Andrew Larsen performed with both skill and kindness. I'm very glad that such an excellent medical facility is available in our Community.

Parking sucks and the place is really cold went to see my girlfriend last week took me way too long to find a spot.

Terrible care. My father had a stroke is on the 4th floor unable to speak or feed himself. His breakfast was delivered and never fed to him it wasn't until lunch was delivered that they realized that they neglected to feed him. They let him lay there unfed and couldn't even provide him with the basic human needs. I was told the nurses have 2 floors to take care of and that they were sorry? Is this an appropriate excuse not to feed a patient? I attend to file a complaint with the federal government for patient abuse.

I went to JFK because my Lupus was acting up and my H/H numbers were down. Went in at 10.7 and down as low as 7.2. Discharged 5 days later when they got it up to 8.2. So worse than when I came in. With an autoimmune problem they put me in a double room with a women who had bronchitis and coughed all night. I went and sat in the hallway for 4 hours until they found me a private room. When I saw a Hematologist he was arrogant and insisted I had a blood transfusion when I had not. Should not have to argue with a doctor who is supposed to be helping you! Could go on further but you get the point. Stayed home Saturday night and went to Cleveland Clinic on Sunday, where I got the treatment I should have gotten at JFK. Will know next time to go directly to C.C. even though it's an hour away. My health is worth the trip.

JFK Hospital is the worst hospital I've ever had the misfortune to be admitted to.
On the multiple time's I was there the rooms are not cleaned properly EVER!!
They are ALWAYS under staffed & in that case both the patient & the employees suffer. If it were not for family on testing day's I wouldn't have had anything to eat as a meal was not ordered for Me.
Medication is not given as per schedule.
I showed up for a surgical procedure, was in the operating room & it was discovered that they didn't have the necessary testing materials for my procedure so I was forced to come back the following day.
On the fourth floor many rooms have no hot water at all, none of the showers worked in the rooms I in.
The cable TV is a laughable joke that is if it's working.
There's so many things that I could say that are totally unacceptable but this review would turn into a short novel.

This is the worst hospital i have ever been to in my life im so disappointed i went with my father-in-law at 7 and it was 11:34pm and he was still in pain vomiting and shaking and still they havent even came ti him to check on him they never have rooms for patients i rather die than ever go to this hospital is a nightmare is so sad how in this country can be sutch a discusting hospital living here in the country we are is unprofesional .

Excellent doctors, clear advice, great personal care!

The surgeon was good but she failed to call my wife after and tell her how the surgery went. I did not see any Drs to give me details of my surgery before i got release. Drs seemed to ask me what I was there for (even after 2nd day) rather than knowing what was done. The emergency and recovery area were nice and attentive but I found that most room nurses seemed not happy about their job and did not pay attention to details.

The care that I received at JFK Medical was above and beyond expectations. I rushed to JFK after initially going to Boca Regional. I never saw the inside of a room in Boca, and was told in the hallway of the ER that my condition required major surgery. I was out of there! I started the night in the ER of JFK and ended a week later after a comprehensive surgery. The nursing staff is AMAZING! They truly care about patient health and happiness. Cleanliness, speed, and care left me feeling confident in my recovery. Thank you to the wonderful nurses and doctors in the ER, ICU, and Recovery Unit of JFK!

I wish I could give no stars. I was brought here by ambulance in November of last year. I did not have insurance. They sent my accounts to collection in less thrn 12 months. What kind of hispital would send an indignant patient's accounts to collection? The nursing staff spent the shift gossiping about who was whos work husband/wife....The whole thing is appaling. If you have a choice, go ANYWHERE else.

People usually only leave bad experiences so I wanted to relay our good experience. The nurses and staff were very caring and helpful. Clean facility. Food meh. Care is most important for my mom who had a fractured hip and delirium from surgery. They were very caring.

My father was on the 3rd floor near the nurses area and the staff was very good. But strange the staff dermatologist could not see my dad because his insurance would not cover the staff dermatologist. And they only have one staff dermatologist. Also the food is not very good.

Great experience, everyone had great customer service and they took great care of me.

avoid eating the food cooked by the cafeteria, had horrible diarrhea as a result until I switched and ordered things alacarte that were not cooked by them, prepackaged things like Cheerios, Otis Spunkmyer muffins, bagel and cream cheese, Kozy Shack puddings, sugar free Jello. there is something very wrong if all food cooked by the hospital cafeteria staff makes you ill but prepackaged things do not

Worst hospital ever went here while working here and the staff talks badly about you and gets you in trouble for stuff you don't do. The head of security Scott Tessmer he claims that he likes you then turns on you he told everyone at orientation the he doesn't care about you or your vehicle being towed. I went here because i had the stomach flu now and they are denying my financial assistance because i don't work for the hospital so put me in collections not paying for something that i'm going to get denied for just because i worked for the hospital. Go to bethesda or delray they treat you better and the hospital treats you better they don't talk about you to other staff like JFK does no wonder why they have bad ratings. The hospital discriminates against you they discriminated against me so much i almost got a lawyer involved because of what they did.

This was my second back surgery within the last 2 years at JFK. With the new facilities nearly completed, the additions are beautiful. The staff was very nice and the post surgical room was very comfortable. I highly recommend JFK hospital.

Had out pt surgery 1/25. Have been trying to straighten out my bill for over a month. Keep being told a request has been sent to the billing dept. My insurance paid the bill in Feb and now jfk is trying to bill me over $2200. Isn't this insurance fraud? Wanted to warn others, check your bill or they will charge you when tbey have already been paid!!!

My second time at JFK for my heart. Everything was done above and beyond what I could expect. I could not have had better care.

I went to the ER on a Sunday with a very bad migraine. There was no waiting and I was treated very well by the doctor and nurses. Received an IV promptly and was discharged in a timely manner.

was not happy with care given. Was in emergency room 7 hours before finally getting a room that looked like a jail room rather then a room for you to get well. I asked for anxiety med. that took a nurse almost 12 hours before I got a pill. The day I was discharged by one of your doctors that was just ignorant to me never saw this till he came into my room and asked why was i there. Ill look at your chart and discharge you and out the door he went I will never come back to JFK again thank you John Disanti

Can use a lot of clean up starting with customer care. Insured or not insured. We are all humans. We are to be treated fairly with respect.

It's okay depending on what's wrong with you or family member!

Was told to go home from the er, later that night had to call 911 for seisers and spent 2 days in palms west to get stabilised.
So please work on that, as we almost lost my son

This hospital stinks. Surgeon was 1.50 hours late for scheduled surgery. No apologies or explanations. Sat in post op for 5 hours; the next day one doctor signed release at 8:00 am then waited 4 hours for second release signature; thereafter waited 2 hours for actual release to be finalized.

Security never returned my DL so I was without it. Had to go back to hospital Rothman Center to pick it up. Nursing staff soeak poor english with deep haitain accent so hard to understand, couldnt even say oxygen correctly. Took me a while to figure out what she was talking about.

Terrible service. Food servers are rude and not friendly. Should be thankful thy are off welfare and have jobs. Terribly poor discharge. I had to ask nurse comtinuously to call second doctor for discharge. I almosts AMA discharged myself since cardiology had released me early. We were made to wait and wait for discharge.

I will not be coming back here and will not recommend. Hospital stays are bad enough on their own, this place Makes it even worse. It makes patients agitated. There is no excuse for the delays in discharge.

If I can say it was the best stay I ve ever had in a hospital stay . From the easy check in to checking out. The nursing staff was a10 out of 5...every need was taken care of . The entire staff was above and beyond anyone could imagine for a hospital stay......

Have been to many Hospitals over the years for my wife, and we have say, JFK Medical Center is one of the best !!!! They would answer your questions, and the Nurses would go out of their way to make sure you were taken care of !!!!! We Rate they on a 1 - 10 scale a 10 + !!!!

Great doctors and nurses. I was very impressed. Organized. Very nice staff all around.

My outpatient hernia surgery went well.

Recovery is a bit painful with discomfort.

I was seen very quickly. The staff was attentive and friendly. I was very happy with my care.

Dr. Daniel Greneir shows NO care for his patients. His only concern is getting out of your room as quickly as he can and he has no common sense or concern with his patients comfort levels! He would rather see you have to be re-admitted and get billed multiple times, than try and provide you with enough assistance to manage your issue.

I can't talk highly enough however about the nursing staff and admission staff!!! They were wonderful and attentive.

HOWEVER! Pray you don't have an emergency while Dr. Daniel Greneir is on staff!!!

I cannot express my thanks to the incredible staff who took care of me when I was there as a patient. I was treated with so much concern and compassion - I cannot thank the staff enough.

The worst hospital ever . My grandfather has been sick with lymphoma cancer and the staff forgot to feed him lunch and dinner. I called asking for the room number and the lady on the phone didn't even tell me his room number she would just forward me every time. All I needed was the room number. I wish I could speak differently about them but I can't . I'm really not liking JFK.....

The staff here is great very attentive and there is no long wait from the time you check in until the time you leave. Everyone was very courteous and I highly recommend JFK for any and everything that is medical!!

My visit at JFK was outstanding. I cannot say enough about the nursing staff who attended to me. They were kind, courteous and always very helpful.

This medical center is an absolute joke! If you have a loved one, do NOT send them here. My dad has been transferred for 2 months now here and another hospital because they can't figure out what is wrong with his heart and why he has so much water weight gain. He has now come back after a heart catherization (when he was released 5 days again stating everything was fine) and is now bleeding internally. When he got there for the 3rd time, the forgot to do a second blood transfusion and didn't even test him to see if he was bleeding internally until the next morning. (When they had orders to check right away.)

I just pray we are able to help my dad In time considering all of the damage this hospital has done and all of the wasting time.. I don't know speals. How can staff like this go home and sleep at night?
Also, the last time he was there about a month ago he had his phone stolen by the staff when they were changing his bed. This time the staff came in this morning to change his bed and told him to give them his phone, my father said "no, nobody is touching my phone!"

This place is absolutely disgusting and something NEEDS to be done about them! They're doing more damage to my father then helping him.

I bring my friend there cause she was having pain and fever. I went there at 3:30PM. She got out at 10:00PM just for one lab test result and My friend was just resting outside the hallway. Which is suppose to take at least an hour. All these nurse do is just walking around and talking to each other and having a bunch of sick people laying around in the hallway. And by war the result show that there was nothing wrong with her. I know these test doesn't take that long for the outcome.. Probably next time I'll go to Boca regional hospital there more quicker in my opinion.

The most HORRIBLE hospital ever. CODE BLUE, FROM OVER DOSING MY SISTER. SHE ALMOST DIED AT THIS DIRTY PATHTIC HOSPITAL. NURSES DONT KNOW YOUR MEDICATIONS OR HELP YOU EVER. JFK, THE DEATHTRAP! The most HORRIBLE hospital I have ever seen.

As always the nursing staff is competent and wonderful. My room was sub-zero! The bed , very uncomfortable - sagged in the middle.

Phone experience is the worst. 20 mins trying to make an appointment then no one would help me get to the department I needed. Waste of time.

My mother had ALS and was having a hard time swallowing. My family thought it would be a good idea to get her a feeding tube. There are three different types of feeding tubes #1 A tube that goes thru the nose #2 A tube that goes thru the chest #3 A tube that goes in your stomach. The tube we were interested in getting for our mom was the one that goes thru the stomach. The hospital convinced us to get the tube that goes thru the chest by telling us "It was less invasive" THIS IS A LIE! . The tube that goes thru the chest is far more invasive. My mother survived the operation but she was starved to death! My mother was getting less nutrition then she was before the operation. She was getting 5 drips per minute. The nurses were very rough and rude! We trusted the hospital and the doctors to do the right thing . What they did was WRONG ! If you are considering getting a feeding tube for a loved one .The only kind that will help the person you love is the one that goes in the stomach! Please DO NOT get any other kind ! I blame this hospital for killing my mother! YES KILLING HER!!!

this is the worst hospital you can go to. unless 10 minutes is the difference between life and death, i highly recommend that you go somewhere else. the staff is very rude and disrespectful, the whole place is disgusting and unsanitary, and they have a very poor way of taking care of clients. i was there for almost an hour with my girlfriend in agonizing pain, with NOBODY in the waiting room, it took them 30 minutes to take us back. Then they just put her in a bed in a hallway, with no estimate of how long we would have to wait to see a doctor. there was a bloody paper towel in a corner of the hallway we were waiting in, she was screaming, crying, and bleeding on the bed she was laying in, when i asked them again how long it would be, one of the doctors replied "if you dont like it, you are free to leave" so we left that poor excuse for a hospital and i will never return.

I had a great experience today at Rothman Center! Attentive & professional! From start to finish, it was an excellent experience.

They lost my ID so now I have no drivers license. They bruised my arms with needles. The room was freezing, the food was unhealthy. Everything took forever and I wasn t given any idea of what was going on.

Don't go to JFK. The hospital makes false billing. The doctors are no good. I can say that because I am from a family of doctors and further, I have been in good hospitals. I had a blood pressure drop on a Friday. I was given an IV and I was okay. I wanted to leave after a couple of hours. The emergency doctor said we should do an MRA because I had recently done a CT and there was aneurysm. I was asked to wait and they would do MRA that night. I reluctantly agree, not knowing that the place is a fraud! They kept saying that they did not have staffs because it was a weekend! I waited till next day. They still did not do MRA. I left with frustration. The hospital then bills my insurance company for $27,000 with a false billing for CT. which I had just done a month ago. First, the doctors are among the worst. Second, they did not do an MRA, for which they asked me to wait! On the top of it, their excuse is that they have staff shortage. Then they bill you for services not provided. It is the worst hospital you can go. Don't go to JFK.

Follow up: I got a call from a staff from JFK. He is just a negotiator to make me pay for service I did not receive. He asked me why did the insurance company pay? I told him the hospital falsely billed me a stroke patient when they knew and agreed that I did not have stroke symptoms. I asked why they did not provide me with an MRA for which they asked me to stay, they said they cancelled it after I waited for 24 hours and of course their excuse was it was a weekend and they did not have staff to do it! Without the MRA for which they asked me to wait, they should not have false billed the insurance company $27,000, knowing well and after agreeing to the fact that I did not have stroke symptoms. It is fraud!

Was seen in interventional radiology in the rothman center. Great staff of nurses. Nurse Stacy Lynn was great. The radiologist was very professional. The ct technician treavor was also great. This place is highly recommended for interventional radiology services

The staff was great! However I was in the hospital for seven hours while my surgery was only an hour.

I went in there last night around 9 pm whene staff was horrible nobody seemed to care about anything it was like they worked a long hard day and probably overworked and weren't interested in really helping, I couldn't walk very well so I asked for a wheelchair and they said they didn't have one in this hospital .. I called them out on it right away and say that's bulsh I need some help get me some help and they still wouldn't do it they said there was nothing in this area they've went way downhill since the last time I was in there and I'm not ever going back

I was pleased with the care and attention. The procedure was executed well and the anesthesiologist worked with me to avoid complications. Thank you to all.

There was almost no waiting; staffers were upbeat and friendly; all my procedures were great--except the IV insertion, which resulted in some ongoing problems. But JFK ER staff took care of it with meds and kind attention, and I must have had three or four follow-up calls to make sure I was OK. It was a really good experience. Also liked the free parking garage and the good directions and kindly help from staffers in the hallways.

It seems that the staff here does not require any real qualifications. Truly terrifying. The few that are dedicated and actually qualified eventually resign or transfer because of the constant nonsense and the institute's lack of authority in their executive positions.

Had heart surgery with the top doctors in the field. The entire team made sure everything was planned perfectly as my case was quite high risk. Subsequently all of the staff was very attentive and made sure I was well taken care of. It's only been a week so I'm hoping things continue to improve with my healing.

Well first of all i just Want to say I ve never been treated so poorly at a hospital. I feel Like i was Discriminated because of the reason i was Here, they didn t give me a nicotine patch for the first 24 hours and then when i want To go to the vending machine they said no, so i went anyways. Then i get Moved to the back of the wing where you have to have a badge to leave the area like I m in jail. I definitely won t be coming back here ..

idk about this just being a lucky experience but Nurses Sofia, Nika, and Cola (I hope I got their name right) where some of the most kind thoughtful and caring humans I've ever encountered, and they made my experience the best it could have been for being sick in a hospital for 3 days. I couldn't thank them enough!

So nice, so polite. Went today with nausea and not feeling well at all. 10 weeks pregnant and they took very good care of me. Did I mention they were all very nice. Awesome people that work there. That I have experienced today. Thank u to the Dr. That first spoke to me around 11am (forgot his name and it wasn't written on the discharge papers but still; appreciate you ALL very much and Ms./Mrs. Lauren Shirley PA. Very polite and thank you again for the medication for this nausea, etc and the prenatal vitamins. Thank youuuuuu thank youuuuu. 6/8/2018

The only thing that needs working on is, the meals, by the time they're delivered to the rooms the food is cold. I've saw that they sit out in hallway before the meals are delivered. Other than that, I was treated really well.

Dr. Levin and the residents at the podiatry program were excellent. The follow up after surgery was very good. The nurse Stand at the ortho floor was very helpful and provided a lot of education. At the surgery center the nurses and the anesthesiologist conducted everything as plan for my surgery. All the services and care provided were above my expectations.

Came in by ambulance. Excruciating back and ab pain. They took very good care of me. And I was out in time to enjoy Thanksgiving with family pain free.

This is the worst hospital to go to. They will have an laying down in pain the whole time. They don't care for their patients that much.

JFK personnel were very professional and extremely nice. They were very helpful in getting me ready for a surgery I had...the nurses in the recovery area were also very helpful in getting me ready to go home
