Jerry Tan Eye Surgery Pte. Ltd. Review

Beware. This practice is totally overpriced and the 'doctor' is actually a salesman. Dr. Tan used to be a good eye doctor who seemed to care about his patients and was passionate about his field of work. However, it is obvious that his heart is no longer in his work. His clinic is now being run like an assembly line and all he wants is money, money, money. He doesn't actually care about your eye health and he seems to love doling out lasik surgeries like it's candy. 500$ plus for an eye check up is outrageous, the wait time was unnecessarily long (90mins) and the consultation with the doctor was actually 5 minutes tops. It's kind of sad to see because Dr. Tan did build a reputation as one of the leading eye surgeons in SG, but it really means nothing if this is how you choose to conduct yourself in the last years of your career. You will also be remembered for how you choose to end your career and in all honesty, it's been downhill for a few years now. This practice can best be defined by one word: 'greed'. There are younger and better surgeons out there-- for a reasonable price. This guy is just greedy and untrustworthy- IMO. I would look elsewhere.

Dr Jerry Tan has been our most trusted eye surgeon for more than a decade. When I had to have my cataract surgery done last year, he was the obvious go-to surgeon of choice. With all his experience, knowledge, passion, skills-set, and patience, absolutely no reason for us to take any risk with another practitioner.

The outcome of the surgery was as expected, my eye sight is now perfect and the recovery was uneventful!! It was worth all the money that we invested in restoring my eyesight to perfection.

We took our first vacation post surgery, hunting for Aurora in the Arctic.......the explosion of colors (true colors finally!) was amazing, not forgetting the Pure White snow cloaked the landscape of Sweden and Norway, thanks to Dr Jerry Tan I certainly am enjoying quality of life!

I did my lasik 23 years ago and only 25 degree is back compare to those did by other doctor after 2 yrs surgery the degree was fully came back. And my friend did cataract other doctor and to my shocking after few months it came back again that she has to do the surgery again. My Mum , She has glaucoma and did the surgery by doctor Jerry Tan. After years, her Vision is well control n infact her vision gets better. Doctor Jerry Tan is a gd doctor..

They do customised lasik....not commonly available around :)

Simply the best eye doctor I've ever found. Dr. Tan doesn't mind spending time to carefully explain about patients' condition and he finds the best up-to-date treatments. Very different from all other doctors in Singapore where consultation takes 5 to 10 min max. The first consultation can take up to 2 hours among waiting time and all exams. It's pricey but if you have a serious eye problem, definitely Dr Tan is the one I recommend.

Was there at about 3:40 to 4:00 pm , 6 May. Friendly, very pleasant and helpful staff. Awesome service!

If LASIK is so good, why the doctor himself don't do it?

Dr Tan is a very dedicated doctor who takes my children s interest to heart.

My 3 kids have been seeing him regularly, twice a year for the past 4-5 years now. He likes to joke with them and make them comfortable so doing the eye tests will be a breeze.

He also assured my boy that there is nothing wrong in being hyperopia and colourblind which definitely helped.

In early January I woke up with a problem in my left eye. Upon the recommendation of the family doctor, I consulted Dr. C. Pang. First the reception at the Jerry Tan Eye Surgery was a pleasant experience. Warm welcome by the person at the reception desk and the person doing the various eye checks was very professional, caring and reassuring. Then I met Dr. C Pang. Do not be surprised by how young she appears! That was the first impression but she is really excellent and explained very well my eye problem and the treatment to be followed. I just completed my second treatment and as usual, it was a great customer experience. I strongly recommend her.

Really love the service and care at Jerry Tan Eye Surgery Clinic. Wise and experienced doctor, loving and caring nurse. This combination gives you the best medical package and the most assuring experience. Have recommended a few friends to his clinic and would continue doing so! Thank you Dr Tan!

Jerry Tan is one of the best and most experienced eye doctors in town. Tough to get appointments though. Even after a LONG queue of patients, he spends sufficient time with you and gives right tips. An army of staff in his clinic, quite experienced and very friendly.

I'm sure Dr Tan has done many successful procedures, and that is why I sought him out. But looking back at my consultation, he had some of the worst possible "bedside" manners of any doctor. He took one glance at my test results and practically laughed at me for having no options with lasik prk or ICL. I have since seen other reputable doctors in other parts of the world, and they did more comprehensive tests that give me more confidence in the information I'm receiving. I still can't believe he would laugh at a patients u fortunate situation with no sense of empathy whatsoever. His office is also 4 times the cost. I paid $300-400USD for the visit whereas in Canada and elsewhere it head been less than $100 for the consultation. This place is overpriced. Go there if you live in Singapore but if you can go to other doctors in Europe or Canada, I highly recommend that. He basically gave me an inaccurate diagnosis, left me out of luck and hope, and sent me packing.

Being under his care for nealy 10 years, I can confidently vouch for Dr Jerry Tan's great expertise and professionalism, coupled with an efficient and credible team, in accounting for his patients' well-being. He is very experienced and has established numerous ties with fellow skilled specialists across the globe to attain up-to-date information/findings and new technologies. Highly recommended.

Dr Tan's credentials speak for themselves. Through my LASIK experience with him, he has been meticulous and flawless. Don't take my word for it, let the other articles and statistics out there corroborate my experience.

But what I would like to commend more about Dr Tan and his team, whether knowing it or not, they are masters of psychology, which is crucial to the entire process of doing LASIK, and recovery. I was perplexed when I first heard Dr Tan talk about how it's a "proven formula" - but after going through both eyes, I understand now. Every step from pre-procedure, to the simple taking care of meals after the surgery done, all the way through the recovery process, was done to minimize the risk of any accidents that might make the experience painful and less than perfect. I could go on about every single part of the procedure, but I'd bore the reader. Trust the team, and you get what you want in return.

So all in all, expect a different experience from what is described by other LASIK patients in blogs elsewhere. But expect a process that feels personal, professional, and produces the result both Doctor and Patient wants - a painless trouble-free recovery, and perfect results. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? My review answers it.

Dr Jerry Tan is a very passionate doctor who will spend his time explaining to me on my eye condition.

I started seeing Dr Tan when I my vision deteriorated. His clinic at first glance gave me the warm feeling of being at home rather than being at clinic.

My astigmatism increase quite a bit and I had dry eyes. Dr Tan and his staff explained to me thoroughly on what is happening to my eyes. A few trick here and there by Dr Tan, my eyes are perfectly well now and I no longer suffers from dry eyes. And I m pretty happy with my new pair of glasses.

Highly recommend if you are looking for a compassionate and friendly doctor to take care of your eyes. Not forgetting all the friendly and smiling staffs of his that make you always want to visit his clinic and not others.

A highly skilled surgeon with 20+ years of experience, the most advanced medical devices available, superb support staff to guide you every step of the way and amazing post operative care.

All of this creates a great patient experience and increases your chances of success. I've gone from -3.5 in both eyes to perfect 20/20 vision - I am very happy with the results!

This place is worth every cent you pay. When it comes to your eyesight, you don't want to go cheap like with other providers. Would highly recommend.

Dr Jerry Tan is knowledgeable and proficient with many years of experience under his belt. The clinic is well equipped with medical devices that help Dr Tan formulate a treatment for the best possible outcome. Had a successful LASIK surgery done here, grateful that I don't need to rely on glasses anymore.

The staff is affable, providing a pleasant experience every step of the way, from pre-operation to post-operation.

Furthermore, Dr Tan even cured a skin issue I was unaware about. Overall, great results and would highly recommend.

Dr Jerry Tan is one of my favourite doctors, the kind I enjoy consultations with, he has sense of humour and yet is direct and to the point. He did my lasik 10.5 years ago, and I am still pleased with the results today. Many people asked why go to Jerry Tan when there are alternatives who are more affordable. I always give the same reply: these are my eyes, I m not taking any chances with second best. He is really the best. He is considered, conservative, doing only one eye at a time, and not both on the same day. He spends time to explain whenever I had queries and is very thorough. I still have perfect eyesight thanks to Jerry Tan, most of my peers need reading glasses, but I am still spared that. Highly recommended if you don t want to gamble with your eyesight. Kudos!

Prior to meeting Dr Jerry Tan, I had my eyes done at a private clinic in Singapore. Turns out that the surgery was botched and there are many problems with my eyes, making my case a very complex case to treat. I have seen many other doctors and would either not tell me about my problem or just straight out not want to treat me. Believe it or not, I have seen 10 doctors so far.

Dr Jerry Tan is the only one so far that has the heart and knowledge to treat me. So far he has been nothing but very kind to me. Replies all my emails and explains everything I could not understand to me properly. His sense of humour is also impeccable.

He can be a little expensive, but he uses the best and only the best machines and attitude. Lasik will affect your whole life and those nightmare surgeries you hear (or do not) about are true and I am a real life example. I do not regret anything in my life but just not having my surgery done by Dr Jerry Tan.

Before I end off this review, I would also like people who are considering lasik surgery and if you are below 30 to request your ophthalmologist to do a cycloplegic refraction with CYCLOPENTOLATE. I cannot reiterate this enough. It has to be cyclopentolate and NOT tropicamide. This is necessary and EXTREMELY important to avoid gross overcorrection.

7 years later after the surgery, my eyes are still perfect - and Dr Tan still has my 5 stars!

Dr Tan is one of the happiest man I've ever met! Thank you for the unbelievably painless experience and being so easy to talk to. Thank you for allowing me to wake up now to see the world with perfect vision. What a bliss!!

It was a 5 star experience right from the start, a prompt response from their staff, Rachel Kang who is extremely knowledgable and professional in her initial engagement. The assessment that followed took 4-5 hours, and was very comprehensive over a wide array of tests.

Dr Jerry Tan gave his input and recommendation on the surgery type and procedure. He insists on doing one eye at a time, although this might sound cumbersome, I realised many good benefits and the emphasis for safety for doing so; in hindsight, the one-week downtime was well worth the peace of mind.

During the surgery, everything was done promptly and professionally, with Dr. Suan Goh assisting Dr Jerry Tan and assuring you during the surgery. There was no fuss nor the slightest pain.

Lastly, the price point may be on the high side, but I whole heartedly endorse and will be more than willing to pay. After all, it's the only set of eyes you have.

In summary, kudos to the team.

The smartest person I have met in SIngapore! Very professional staff and famous world-class surgeon. I had amazing eye surgery with Dr. Tan and he cured my eyesight. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone and everyone. He is the best! Knowledgable, patient, and kind. I can not imagine a better experience.
