Located in the centre of the large and quiet homonymous National Park on the shore of the Mississippi river, the Gateway Arch is impressive in its simplicity. Unfortunately, in occasion of my visit (end of February 2019) the weather was cloudy and foggy, so visiting the Arch's top (some 190 metre high) was meaningless: in clear days the visit to the Arch's top is an absolute must and offers a breathtaking view of St. Louis and surrounding territories. Remember to complete the experience by visiting the Museum of the Westward Expansion as well, located in the Old Courthouse at the main entrance of the Gateway Arch National Park.

Great park around the the gateway arch. The grounds were green and the pathways were modern and clean. Lots of trees for shade, making for a nice place to picnic with a view of the arch.

Allow way more time than you might guess, both for the ride to the top and for the exhibits down below. A film about western movies got my rapt attention, as well as learning how the Arch was built! Really cool!

Had a great time there, lines were long but that's no surprise and the elevator ride up was a little scary. Finally while up there you had a view of the whole area and it was pretty nice. This was a quick trip but kids would really enjoy feeling as if they where Giants looking down at all the little people.

Not happy with the gateway National Park I brought my dog and she is a support dog and I do have her licensed and documented with thick with the state and I do have a medical license for her what happened was I was going through the gate and they told me that my dog could not go through the gate because she is not a medical support dog she is my support dog if I didn't have right of would know what to do so on very disappointed in this place that they would not let my dog go through with me having all the papers that I need to have and the ID in the registration and it just is not a good place to bring your dog when you have a support dog don't bring him here because they will not let you in so I wanna thank you very much and I would not agree with this place to be a support dog place thank you By the way my dog weighs 11 pounds

Very busy, long lines to get through security.

If I go back and actually enter I'll update this

The Arch itself is a unique tower-type attraction. It is a very interesting ride to the top as it does not use traditional elevators (obviously). Where most towers offer views out and downward, the Arch offers views out and straight below.

I was amazed on my first visit by how much was going on underneath this quiet park which is the peaceful home of the Arch's north and south footprint. From the museum to the gift shop, plan on an entire afternoon for a first visit... maybe a little longer depending on the crowd.

If you can plan ahead and buy tickets for a designated time online, that will save a lot of time. If you buy tickets at the Arch, you may have a long wait. If you buy tickets late in the afternoon, you may have no wait, or you may find that the tickets are sold out for the day. It's a roll of the dice.

If you haven't experienced the Arch, I highly recommend it if visiting St. Louis... or even just passing through.

Love that the museum is free. The tram tours and movie in museum cost money, but can do museum for free.
They just redid museum last year. The changes are very nice. Much more hands on and interactive.
Museum is broken into time periods.
Nice store and information stands as well.
Have a junior ranger program as well.

They have done an absolutely amazing job renovating the park grounds here. Everything from the atrium, to the museum, to the cafe, to the symmetrical ponds and sidewalks are absolutely stunning. The entire staff is exceptionally sincere, too!

Will probably be 5 stars plus some when all of the construction is done. Wait a year if you can. Most of the access is blocked off as they build a new center. The arch and boats are open, but you miss a lot of the experience with everything else closed off.

Very good place to take the family or go alone for history or just sight seeing. We drove over about 5 hour drive and we explored St. Louis in the day time eat then went to the arch in the evening at this time they where sold out of trips to the top of the arch so if you came and want to go up to the top of the arch make
Sure to buy your ticket time ahead or early in the day to make sure or to succeed at getting a trip to the top. Even though we did not get to do the tour at the top of the the arch the kids had a good time and the free zoo about 2 miles away was a good addition to the trip. Also if you go in the evening hours check the curb side parking hours the machine will still take your money even though you don t need to pay after hours.

Interesting museum that's fun to go through as you wait to go up the arch. There's a food area too that's nice. Service could be better. No one seems like they want to be there. The guards checking you before you go downstairs are worse than TSA. Yelling and trying to act tough for some reason. The staff in the food area were on the verge of disrespectful. Snapping at people who ate trying to order. Sadly that seems to be a trend in most places. Probably will never go back, but it's fun for a day out.

I was thrilled with that place, and didnt realize they had a museum, and that it was a u.s monument. I was clueless... very happy I stopped to see it on the way home from my sisters house this year!
