Well curated and well designed, the museum does not shy away from the good and the harm caused by early western expansion. This is a good thing; we should not forget how we got to where we are today.

My first visit back to the Arch since the major renovation. Overall a much improved experience. First the bad, the Arch grounds parking lot has been removed. Parking is now at downtown St. Louis Parking lots. Locating the lots online before visiting is highly recommended. However, since you are now starting your visit downtown a stop at the Historic Old Courthouse is now a natural and probably right on your way. Do allocate some time to visit what this wonderful historic building has to offer.

Nice place for families couples, to take. a walk . Plenty places to eat $ and up. Carriage rides and very close to the St. Louis Cardinals Stadium. Carriage rides all around. I will attend again.

We were not allowed in because of our service animal. They were very rude to us and would not explain why we weren't allowed in even though we had our service papers and tag. All we wanted was suvoiners of our stop there. But they aren't even worth getting some .I will NEVER stop there again nor give them even a penny.

Beautiful place to take a walk, the arch being 630 feet tall was more than impressive. Parking is free after 7pm weekdays, so it's a free national monument which is pretty awesome. The area is well maintained and the surround plaques telling the cities history was informative and captivating (personal opinion).

One of the best museum in the US. Must see. Rich and honest take on the history of St. Louis and the Country. I will come back. BTW the stunning exhibition is a reason enough to skip the elevator ride.

Their museum is really cool, being on top of the arch can be overwhelming with so much people in one tight space. The tram/elevator trip to the top was really interesting, the elevator accomodates 4-5 people.

Gateway Arch National Park may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of National Parks but it's still breathtakingly enormous (it's the largest arch in the entire country, in fact) and definitely worth the visit if you're in St. Louis.

For those of you who are new to the area, I want to point out that the Old Cathedral (officially Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France) is not part of the national park and Arch grounds, but is part of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis. For that reason, their website doesn't contain info about the construction next door. It's operating as a small parish despite being a historical landmark.

That's why you'll see a man outside in the parking lot at certain times- he's there to make sure the parking lot in front of the church have space only during Mass times (worship to everyone else) and not to be used for the Arch/park grounds during Mass. If you say that you're not going to the Cathedral for Mass, he will not let you use the church parking lot. You'll see a sign saying that parking for church only during Mass times.

I suggest that you check out the website for CityArchRiver- that's the name of the main project for Jefferson National Memorial Park- they have info and webcams to check out the current progress.

I've been in the past and loved it, but not anymore. I would point out that there is no handicapped parking, but there is no parking at all. I'm not kidding, I'm think your supposed to park elsewhere and take a bus, taxie, or something. The tram to the top sells out hours in advance now, so there is a good chance you won't get to go up in the arch.

Came here so many times a child for school trips, while I'm sad to see that the stuffed animals and wax figures didn't make the cut to being included in this National Park crossover, I absolutely love what they have done with the place. So glad The Gateway Arch joined the National Park family!

Although temporarily closed for major renovations, the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (aka: Gateway Arch) is surely a site to see. I'm sure some people who live in the St. Louis area take for granted the splendor that is this architectural masterpiece.

Hop a ride in the tram (when it's running again) and take in some of the most amazing views of the St. Louis downtown and riverfront.

Finally, the museum and visitors area underground are quite interesting; make sure you have time to take it all in.

I'm a little confused about this location. When I visited the Old Courthouse across the street, a sign with "Jefferson National Expansion Memorial" was posted in front. The Park Officer told me several exhibits were moved to the Courthouse across the street.
