Beware of JAS Marine Services! Their service manager Jason Toledo, sent a technician that arrived at our boat to fix a problem. He hooked up his computer and declared we needed a new 'Boat throttle' for $7,200, which we agreed to in order to fix the boat. After replacing it, he suddenly said the 'HCU' also needed replacing, adding another $1,800. Despite suspicions, we paid hoping it would finally resolve the issue. However, after installing the HCU, Jason claimed the throttle wouldn't work without a new 'rear joystick,' adding more expenses that were not discussed before, and were not a problem to begin with. When we asked if this was the final fix, he shockingly admitted he couldn't solve the problem, removed the parts he installed, and demanded $3,000 for his three visits! Jason never explained the unrelated part failures and pressured us into quick decisions. This feels like a deliberate bait-and-switch scam. Check other platforms for similar experiences before trusting JAS Marine Services, John Strauss, or Jason Toledo.

I had a recent experience with Jas Marine. My starboard Volvo Penta diesel engine had a major damage after a rope entanglement at the Carysfort Key Largo Florida. We lost three weeks and paid $11,000 to local diesel certified repair shop at Ocean Reef Club. They were totally lost and the owner pushed us to change the starboard engine. Unfortunately, since 2016, Volvo company has changed this engine; if we listened to him, so we would have end up changing both engines, a financial disaster.
Based on the insurance surveyors recommendations, I contacted Jas Marine. I was almost shocked with the level of understanding by Ms. Debbie Warren at JASMARINE, who is in charge after repairs department. She was extremely assuring and accommodating, for our time urgency. First he sent DJ who is their chief technician to Key Largo promptly. DJ had his initial inspection. Even though DJ did not have the diagnosis yet, he clearly identified the steps that was needed to get this repair done and Debbie explained these with patience. With thus Incredible rescue offer, we decided to transfer our boat to Harbor Towne Marina, ( We couldn t find the marina in West Palm Beach with a dock that would be available to do these repairs).
As Debbie had promised DJ and their team came from Palm Beach and worked on the boat following a step-by-step approach to solve the issue and the repair was completed successfully. At every stage, Debbie was incredibly helpful, to explain the details at the same time working with the insurance company and the Marina. We were extremely pleased with the Intelligence, experience and the Technical competence of DJ, Debbie and the rest of the Jas Marine team. This company has shown competence and integrity that should be an example to all of those repair shops who are Volvo certified, but yet, not truly qualified. The best asset of this company is the people that they have in particular Debbie and DJ whom I am so much grateful. I recommend Jas Marine to those who are in need in South Florida Boating community without any reservation. Regardless where your boat may be, this team is worth the trip. They will diagnose and solve your problems with great customer care and with integrity.

Blown away by the level of customer service and professionalism. We had a problem with our flybridge joystick and they diagnosed it, ordered the parts and replaced them all within 36 hours just before we had to head offshore. We are always nervous using people we do not know when we travel on the boat in new areas but these guys were amazing. We could not recommend them more highly.

Extremely knowledgeable team here at JAS, they've been providing great work in the industry for decades. One of their technicians, Joe, helped diagnose and fix my Fischer Panda gen on my 42' Yellowfin. Really great company, can't recommend enough!

Sent model numbers, photographs and details of the work I wanted done before I arrived from out of the country. They said they could do the work. When I arrived they looked at the job and declined, leaving us a bind with many of the other locals mechanics booked up. These people are amateurs.

I get DIY parts for the mechanics on my boat here often. I always find the prices on select name brand parts are way less expensive than the 'big box' marine stores. Super friendly too.

Dealing with their parts department s Craig Fournier is always a nice experience. He is polite, efficient, does the research, is responsive and most importantly gets you the parts needed if not in stock in a very timely manner.

I honestly can't say enough good things about JAS Marine, and more specifically, Jason. I live in CT, and bought a boat in Florida sight unseen, knowing it needed pod rebuilds. I spoke to Jason many times before even purchasing the boat to gather information on rebuild pricing. Once I purchased the boat, I engaged JAS Marine to rebuild the pods on a Friday. The following week the pods were removed from the boat, rebuilt, and reinstalled. Jason also sent me NUMEROUS updates through the process, including photos of what needed to be replaced/repaired.

Above all, it is honestly refreshing to deal with somebody who seems to genuinely care about what he or she is doing, and provides world class service. I called dozens of marinas looking for help on various items with this boat purchase (not all related to the pods), and most people answered the phone with an attitude like they couldn't be bothered to talk. I was eventually referred to JAS Marine for the mechanical work, and Cable Marine for the cosmetic work.

Hopefully this review helps somebody else make the decision - although all you need to do is call a few marinas to know that JAS is the premier Volvo service dept in FL. If I have problems with my pods in the future, I would seriously consider shipping them back to FL just to use JAS again.
