Incredible French inspired restaurant. Beautiful Art Deco and brick interior.with a guilded domed ceiling. For 21 years I have frequently visited this restaurant multiple times yearly for pre show dinners of the San Francisco Opera, Symphony and Ballet or special occasions. Upscale White table dining with the utmost respect for their sourcing of high quality sustainable ingredients. Quality hand crafted cocktails, exquisite wine list. Unfortunately this bastion of dining excellence will be closing April 24th 2019. Traci Les Jardin has five other great restaurants but are not high end dining. Truly sad to see this restaurant close.

Beautiful cozy restaurant with attentive service, great food, fun ambiance. Nice wine selection. Vegetarian entree offered off menu was very good, polenta with braised mushroom and vegetables on this occasion. Have to try the burger next time.

There are no longer tasting menus, nor an extensive menu provided.; though new menu items appear every couple of weeks The restaurant now appears to cater primarily to the pre-theater crowd, to which we belong. We find the food and wine to be excellent, and the service generally very good. If reservations are not available, one can dine in the bar area. I do wish Jardiniere would bring back its tasting menus and more extensive menu.

Very good menu. The chef knows how to bring flavors together for excellent dishes. Drinking vinegars are well done for non-drinkers. Blood orange and ginger lime were great. We had a tasting menu featuring entrees with "impossible" meat that were very good including the Tagliatelle pasta. The "impossible" burger was pretty good, but did have a weird after taste and mushy consistency.

We ordered 2 salads & 2 appetizers. The beet salad was good. It had fried bread pieces in it, which was okay, but not as cool as it sounds. The escarole salad was fairly large & looked like a giant pile of cole slaw. The dressing wasn't that flavorful & it was the last dish to be finished. Hamachi crudo was good, but not a lot of food. DH said, "Hard to mess that up." We also got a pasta with pork belly. Honestly don't remember that one.

I booked this place for a romantic dinner for my husband's birthday. We had planned to go to the opera right afterwards. I had requested (twice on the phone) for a romantic seating if possible so that we wouldn't be close to other tables, the lady on the phone said they could arrange something for his birthday so I was looking forward to it.

When we got there (5:30pm) they led us to our table but sadly it was way too close to our next door patrons - we certainly didn't want to spend all night whispering and feel uncomfortable so we asked to be seated in one of the tables with chairs close to the balcony where it's more of a table for 2 kind of a scene and you can talk to your partner in peace. After that was done, we ordered half bottle red wine (pinot noir) which was nice and light and a hamachi crudo to start with and some bread and butter. Food throughout took its time to come which was a bit weird and also we thought we'd run out of time to go to the opera but I guess it's fine if you're fine dinning and want to have time to enjoy the place and your dinner in slow pace. After the lovely appetiser we ordered our main course - pork and the alaskan halibut. Medium rare pork was beautifully cooked to medium rare and was tender and not chewy which can be sometimes and the halibut was cooked to perfection so i loved it. We ended with chocolate terrine which was divine. Overall food was great although the choices were very limited and they didn't have certain things on the menu I had seen previously on other reviews like the duck breast or meatballs, short ribs etc so that was a bit of a let down as well.

Our waiter was very polite and took his time to explain everything on the menu and make great recommendations but I felt a bit sad as I was expecting something like happy birthday written on the dessert plate I guess since I had let them know about it so that felt bit of a let down on that because I didn't feel it was extra special for his birthday, I didn't want to specify anything because I had already mentioned it in the request and since we changed the table I didn't want to seem demanding also because I'm not used to it :( ...

The crowd was too told [60+] and given we are in our thirties it felt weird. I saw perhaps 1 or two other couples that were our age so that didn't give the place the right vibe feeling we belonged there but i guess you can expect an older crowd with fine dinning...

Anyhow our primary reason for booking this place is that it was very close to the opera which we were going to see at 7:30pm so it can be convenient if wanting to spend couple hundred bucks for a nice romantic dinner with your loved one prior to going to the theatre or symphony or opera which are literally 5 min walk from the restaurant. Most probably won't be back to this place but would recommend for others to try.

Occasional items are absolutely delicious, but many (even most) are sort of average, and for the price this is a little disappointing. I think the problem with a lot of the dishes is they tend to overcomplicate them.
Also it is not a great place for vegetarians. On the bright side, service is quite excellent and ambiance very nice.

Overpriced. My boyfriend took me here for Valentine's day and it was romantic--dim lighting cute atmosphere. It's nice for a special evening but the food was nothing to rave about for how much it cost.

The very definition of "you get what you paid for". This place is expensive, but well worth it. From the valet, to the warm welcome, to the knowledgeable and patient waiter, all the way to the food and dessert, this place is top-notch.

I had lamb special (prepared three ways) for dinner, which was full of flavor and juicy to almost a fault. It was perfect experience. The side dish I had was the duck-fat potato, which was crunchy and salty. I had a sampler for dessert, which was just the icing on the cake, so to speak.

I love this place. I can't go weekly, but it's perfect for a special occasion. Simply put, I can't wait for my next special occasion.

Such a romantic restaurant. The dining room upstairs exudes french style and class and the food was amazing. The risotto appetizer was the best risotto I have ever had, and the Waygu beef was cooked perfectly. Retreated to the bar downstairs after dinner and had some great whisky drinks.

I went here with my girlfriend for my birthday and we had an absolutely great time. The ambiance is amazing and all the servers are extremely nice. They have a master sommelier on the premises who offered great insight into wines that would pair well with the cheese plate we chose. We ordered duck and crab pasta, there wasn't a single bite left. Definitely a great place to spend time with a loved one.

Came to try the Impossible Burger. They said they start serving it at 7:30 in the bar and lounge. Arrived at 7:45 and they said it was sold out. $20 valet said they couldn't refund us even though the car was still outside.

No thanks.

The place was packed as it was pre- theater time. I sat at the bar. Greg and Chad who worked the bar made a great team. Their service was timely and eloquent. In less than an hour I was served their two course pre-theater pre-fix menu. The duck breast was succulent and tender. The sweetness of the apple and the robustness of the lentils provided the perfect pairing to the duck. It's one of the best pre-symphony dinners around. It's right across the street too! Enjoy!

This place gets 5 stars simply for the culture that they are promoting.. Otherwise the food is a bit overprice for what you get. We had a mix up in our reservation but once that got all settled we got a quiet table with very attentive staff. The food was ok..Not extra ordinary but just ok and the ambiance was nice. A place to go for some intimate time with friends upstairs or after work to get a drink with co-workers downstairs.. But what made us all blown away was when we got the check.. and the nice note on the bottom of the check "Immigrants make America great!! They also cooked and served you dinner this evening" .. Being with 4 other females , all immigrants who had picked the restaurant partially to support the chef, we all decided that we needed to let them know how much we appreciated the note .. So we found every piece of paper we could to write to them our gratitude..
Nice touch.. Well done! :)

Glitzy see-and-be-seen upscale eatery near the Opera. The food is very good but really not memorable. Very nice wine list. The ambience is perfect for a first date. My fish entre was prepared exactly as I ordered. You can't ask for more than that.

Only one of our dishes was particularly memorable (the tagliatelle). The whole place felt outdated - thick carpeted floors and very dim lighting. There vibe and atmosphere was very quiet and older (nearly no one in there under the age of 40).

Great restaurant. The Impossible burger was interesting, as a burger you really cannot tell that it is not meat. Just the meet itself has slight hints of some sort of grain, still amazingly close to real meat!

Great food and ambiance. Slightly expensive. Would recommend especially for a pre theatre dinner. There seemed to be a bar area downstairs for more casual bar food like burgers. Would try that out next time too.

Always fantastic. I've been coming here regularly for over a decade. Everyone I bring here is blown away by the quality of the drinks, food and service. I've sent so much business to Jardiniere over the years and given them lots of loyal customers. I also always direct my business contacts here for their in town meetings. This week alone (March 2019) I've introduced over a dozen new patrons to the restaurant, many of them have been back a second time during their business trips with other guests. I know others return year after year during their conferences and events (as they are kind enough to invite me to join them!). I rate Jardiniere above some of the Michelin star restaurants in the vicinity, so much so that I no longer visit certain establishments... If I could give them six stars I would.

The Jardiniere is a beautiful restaurants that spread over two floors. It provides top class friendly service, and a nice but rather small menu of fresh dishes. The food was good and we had a great evening. Prices are rather high, but not outrageous.

I came here for dinner with my company and LOVED it! This was the first official French restaurant I'd been to and wasn't sure what to expect. The food was exquisite and the platter presentations were definitely spot on (it was also delicious, of course). The waiter was really helpful in providing additional information on the night's menu. Would definitely recommend this place for special occasions!

Don't take my 4 star rating literally but the 4.5 is justified. We just weren't as impressed from a traditional French cuisine standpoint. The menu is limited but good enough to find something for ever taste you could be looking for. The service was impeccable but the food fell rather short and the menu just seemed tired.

My entire of duck breast confit paired with kimchi was just odd. It worked but felt rather odd that they were going asian, yet french, but mehhh. The black cod was definitely a winner along with the chicken but for me, you really have to impress if you are going to toss a bird in an oven. The best finish for the meal was the cheese offering. Perfect ending.

Side note, the bar is wide open with plenty of seating. If you want to get in quick and not have the traditional sit down, they have a great lounge that will accommodate 1-4 people even if its just for houre d'oeuvres.

We had a phenomenal time. Our waiter, Wilson, was most welcoming & knowledgeable . The food was excellent. My steak was cooked beautifully and perfectly seasoned. My friend's tagliatelle was tender and delicious. The risotto was creamy and tasty. I have always been blown away by the service. The food has always been great. I can't wait to come back.
