Jaenicke's Drive In Review

Good food, good service. We had Italian Beef and Onion Rings.

I know people who love this place and I know people who hate it. For me it's just in the middle.

The last time I was there I had the bratwurst. It was average. We make better brats at home when we cook Johnsonville brats. I also had a milkshake, which seemed thin. I do like that they cover the food item with a piece of tissue, which they staple to the tray so it doesn't blow away.

I'll have to try other food items because there must be something on the menu that makes people love them. The problem is, they're a little on the slow side, so deciding on a day that I feel like waiting for food that may not be great doesn't always seem ideal.

One of my first stops when I get to Kankakee County! Everything is good here. Red hot with sauce and cheese, sauce bun with cheese, tenderloin, Italian beef, great root beer. I don't think I've ever had anything here that wasn't worth a second serving!

Honestly, the hot dogs aren't the best. But there is something about their chili cheese dog that is so amazing. It's a unique place that you have to try when you visit. As for me, a local, I go every Wednesday. Try to go early because they get packed at lunch. The drive-through line often extends down the street at peak times.

Little places like this is what good food is about. The only problem, college kids are broke! This is a wee bit expensive and everything my group bought was decent-really good (except the tenderloin)!

Good food. Had a tenderloin and a pretzel with cheese both were very delicious!

I prefer the kankakee one but both are the best place in town for some food America food and quick.

Great hot dogs, root beer is too. People live their sauce.

Great food at a great price, Fast and friendly service. Don't be deterred by the long lines at this place, They move relatively quick and there a reason people are willing to wait!! A couple MUST trys are the Corn Dog nuggets and the meatball sandwich

Me and the kids thought it was a great place to stop for a quick burger and a shake. A very family friendly atmosphere with outdoor seating. Great little local place to eat

Weiner Wed is the best. The dogs are great, the pricing is decent, and the seating is outdoors so you can watch the birds.

I've be stopping for the chili cheese hots for over 35 years. Yummy!!

I come from Florida every Independence Day and I make sure I stop in and get my cheese deluxes and root beer! Best hotdogs on earth

They should not be allowed to call their hotdogs Chicago Style since they obviously have no idea what they consist of.....

Food made to order (it takes time but well worth it), fair prices, great simple sundaes, and some of the best fried pickle spears (especially if you love dill).

This place is an institution in the Kankakee/Bradley/Bourbonais region. Everyone anticipates their opening in the Spring. The make and bottle their on Root beer that you can buy by the to go cup or in half gallon containers. When you buy a gallon of root beer you get a punch in a card, after 10 punches you get 1 gallon free. The best thing about the punch card is that it never expires!My friends and myself make sure we stop everytime we go to Kankakee, most of us come from other states. Their chili sauce is legendary (it is a sweet sauce), so much so that you can order sauce buns. They are just warm hotdog buns with sauce and any toppings you want to add. They are a drive in restaurant on the Kankakee River. You park and they come get your order. The rest of their menu is typical dinner food : chilli dogs, Chicago dogs, fried mushrooms, fries, onion rings, fried pickles, etc. I would DEFINATELY suggest you stop!

Hidden hotdog gem! Great place after a day at Bears Camp.

Fast service & mediocre ballpark style food. Front window staff had ZERO knowledge of what products are used to make their food & were hesitant to ask the cooks. Teenagers are employed & their lack of people skills shows.

Ate here my whole life.. Cannot recommend enough.... If ur a local and u leave home... When u visit this is a MUST HAVE!!!!

Jaenicke's Salt Lick

The root beer is great! But I can't imagine how much salt is in it. This place used to be so great, now it just reminds me of high school cafeteria food. You used to get a good amount of chili with meat, but now they sling a teaspoon of oil and fat over an albino hot dog and pass it off as a "red hot with sauce." Long live Boz!

Neat outdoor drive in style restaurant. They have outdoor seating only if you want to sit and eat. They also have a drive through if your preference is to order and go. The food is great, lots of variety from hotdogs to sandwiches. The root beer is the star of the restaurant though. Very tasty you can tell some time was put into it.

Redhots went up in price and got cheated a bit on the sause today.

Kankakee location by the river is 5 star....fyi.

If you've never been to jaenickes get some cheese fries. The hotdogs are bomb and the root beer floats are fire. Literally everything is delicious.

Usually a fan but this is NOT a Chicago style hot dog.

Good memories, but they do not have the food and drink that I remember growing up. It may be that the food changed or that my food experiences have changed me.

This place has the best sauce in town. Great Italian beef and homemade root beer. You must try once.... Then you will be hooked. Also met the owners, they are great people

Delicious hot dogs. Great service. I had the chili cheese and onion dog. So good. They give you a ton of fries.

Great Place for a Hot Dog with chilly and cheese fries. Lots to choose from on the menu. Plenty of parking and you can sit out on the picnic tables in the shade. Jaenike's hot dogs, 605 Armor Rd. Bourbonnais, IL. Always very busy in the summer.

Love the red hots here. I have enjoyed them for many years. Summertime tradition that never disappoints

Of course all of use give jaenickes a 10. B esides the one in bourbonnais is the only one with diet root beer. Added ice tea too
