Our daughter is an aspiring dancer, so we made sure to fit in a visit to Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival while we were in the Berkshires. We toured the grounds and took in three performances. We were blown away by the talent and enthusiasm of the dancers, choreographers, and support staff. What an incredible environment "the pillow" provides for these young people to grow and develop their artistry. Don't forget to visit the outdoor stage -- it's in a beautiful setting with the Berkshire Mountains as a backdrop. Stunning.

Amazing back drop and beautiful view. Great message to promote the arts and community. We saw the free show on Wed night.
The dance (although free), was somewhat uncoordinated and took a lot of yoga postures and put them into a dance. I noticed this half way through the performance and it was mentioned that many of them are yoga instructions.

Overall good but could be better in terms of coordination and not using yoga postures.

After working as an intern, serving as an apprentice, and returning as a patron, there is no other place that makes me feel at home as Jacob s Pillow. Full of rich and important dance history, JPDF should be at the top of any dance enthusiast s places to visit list. Make a day, weekend, or several weeks out of your experience- there s always something to do at the Pillow! Food is outstanding, the store offers unique mementos, and the performances are absolutely stunning.

We saw an outdoor performance by the Jamal Jackson dancers along with a drumline of incredibly talented kids. They started our evening out in great style. We went on a guided tour of the campus, then had dinner. Later, we watched the Dance Theater of Harlem. Wow! What a program! This was once-in-a-lifetime stuff! Beauty, youth and grace all together made for a spectacular evening!

The Berkshires are beautiful and serene. The Indoor/Outdoor stage setting is extraordinarily beautiful. The stage resembles an infinity pool with the dancers dancing on the edge of a beautiful presipis.

Martha Graham performed Deo choreographed by Doyle and Smith. Nothing but a lot of repetitive writhing - women in agony. It might have made a point except for the music by Leslie Flanigan, which was a constant unremitting assault on the ears.

Beautiful campus with world-class performances for any age and price range. Go to the Inside Out weekly performances for free, or stick around for dinner and drinks then a show in the Ted Shawn Theater. I truly appreciate their new initiatives garnered towards local community engagement, not just part-time residents and visitors.
