A very unic venue with plenty of short release movies from US and abroad. Interesting and engaging after movie discussions with actors, directors, producers. Check their website for upcoming events and movies.

Nice clean theater with excellent management. Usually an older crowd attends that shows respect to those in the audience by not using their cell phones or talking during the film. This film center is far better than a mall theater.

MOVIEPASS CUSTOMERS: Beware - Jacob Burns manageme...

MOVIEPASS CUSTOMERS: Beware - Jacob Burns management decided to NOT accept MoviePass for any "special event" films, which are becoming more and more prominent with their new monthly themes.

Instead of allowing you to use your pass (as advertised) and then pay $1 extra for the increased ticket price, they go against MoviePass rules and just restrict it completely, even though it's not a 3D film.

Just an FYI when you show up expecting what you paid for to work and the staff's entire excuse is a tattered piece of paper taped to the desk saying they no longer against MoviePass for special event films with a shrug of a shoulder and a manager who won't even come out to discuss it.

About Jacob Burns Film Center

Jacob Burns Film Center: A Hub for Film Enthusiasts

Are you a movie buff looking for a place to indulge in your passion? Look no further than the Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC), located in Pleasantville, New York. This non-profit cultural arts center is dedicated to promoting film as an art form and providing educational opportunities for filmmakers of all ages.

The JBFC was founded in 2001 by Stephen Apkon and Janet Maslin, with the goal of creating a community space where people could come together to watch, learn about, and discuss film. Since then, it has become one of the premier destinations for cinephiles in the tri-state area.

One of the main draws of the JBFC is its diverse programming. The center screens everything from classic Hollywood films to independent features to foreign cinema. They also host special events throughout the year, such as Q&A sessions with filmmakers and actors, film festivals celebrating specific genres or themes, and screenings accompanied by live music or other performances.

In addition to its screening rooms, the JBFC also houses a state-of-the-art media lab where aspiring filmmakers can take courses on everything from screenwriting to cinematography. These classes are taught by industry professionals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge with others.

But what really sets the JBFC apart is its commitment to community outreach. The center partners with local schools and organizations to provide free screenings and workshops for underserved populations. They also offer programs specifically designed for children and teenagers who are interested in learning more about filmmaking.

If you're looking for a way to get involved with this vibrant film community beyond just attending screenings or taking classes, consider becoming a member of the JBFC. Members receive discounts on tickets and classes as well as invitations to exclusive events like members-only screenings.

Overall, if you're passionate about film – whether you're an avid fan or an aspiring filmmaker – there's no better place than Jacob Burns Film Center #AtTheJBFC!
