Having a zoo membership is a great benefit. The new African Forrest exhibit superb. This zoo is first class.
Construction limited areas of the zoo. Still a good visit. Will be better once construction is complete, and still didn't stop us from buying a membership.
Really great Zoo relative to how big a city we are (re: population). Great Manatee exhibit going on right now. I also think they do a great job of having a ton of activities for the little ones. I would recommend to families, and also couples for date night (new beer garden!!!)
Even though it was packed with people, there were still places where you could feel like you are by yourself with the animals. The new tiger exhibit and gorilla exhibit are amazing because they have tunnels the animals can walk through and be over your head. Watched people feed the penguins. And it's the manatee festival to raise awareness. So many different events throughout the year and it's always different.
Seriously, if it weren't for the price-to-quality ratio at the Trout River restaurant, it would be 5 stars. Love the zoo so much. We go all the time. Hate that restaurant SOOOO much! I usually pack, but sometimes get stuck going. Ugh.
Great time with kids even though it rained. Most animals look to be well taking cared of.
Enjoyed the day at the zoo, the animals were very active. Had to wait 30 minutes for the train ride and since it was towards the end of the day they only went back to the main entrance which was disappointing. Ride the train early for the best experience.
It's an amazing place to take the family, great people and the reptile rooms are pretty cool
Really nice zoo! Lack of food options is the only reason I am rating this zoo as a 4-star zoo. My 6-year old and 4-year old loved it!
Always lovely plants in season, the animals are very active on these chilly days. One of the nicest family facilities in Jax. Great for Pokemon hunting too!
Birthday Party Yurt with cupcakes and individual icecream, goody bags and lunch for guests. Meet and greet with 2 small animals, train ride with a shout out to Birthday child, and games for little ones to play with for an hour and a half. $30 per person over the initial 10 guests over party price of 325$.
It was the best zoo i been too better than Memphis zoo to me five stars.
We had a lovely day. It was hot, but there are plenty of options to cool down along the main path. We rode the train halfway and walked our way back, taking each loop of interest as we came to it.
We decided to become members and now look forward to many more visits to the zoo.
The place is awesome for all family. Train trip, many beautiful animals and more...
The Jacksonville zoo is very nice. We went early so there were very few crowds and the animals were still out and about. The layout is fluid, which makes it difficult to miss any exhibits. I wouldn't say it is the most exciting place on earth, probably because they don't sell beer, but it is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
Also, the zoo is VERY kid friendly, with plenty of kid specific viewing areas, play places, sweet shops, and benches to sit and cool off in the shade.
Wonderful zoo! Wish we had this in Buffalo, NY where I live! Lots of room for the animals, clean, nicely landscaped and a lot of animals to see! The Dinosauria exhibit is the topping on the cake! Our family went and were very impressed!
Man this peace lived up to its reputation! Absolutely huge couldn't see the whole thing. They had a small water park wish we would have brought suits for the kids! Will deff return!n
I live in Jacksonville and I believe every one should go .It takes about 4 hours this place is great.
The zoo is very nice and the exhibits well done. I would have liked more variety, especially in the Asian and Australian areas.
The new monkey exhibit is wonderful! And the juvenile guerrillas are adorable!
Had a great time. We took a group of 20, 4-5 year olds from Yulee Early learning center. Parking was easy! A bike officer stopped us as we pulled into the lot, had me follow him to a spot, allowed us to park our parents together with the bus. We received a group discount because one person was a passholder, it was CROWDED and we got in easy and had a great time. Lines were long but I don't think they anticipated how busy it was going to be. Incredible weather for visiting 65-70 degrees all day. Great zoo experience, animals were everywhere.
My kids absolutely LOVED it! We went for my daughter's birthday and she had such a good day. Everyone was incredibly nice. Definitely worth the membership.
The zoo is an excellent place to spend the day with your family. Great attractions, awesome food and reasonable ticket prices.
Great place for a good outing. I took the grandboys, we had a good time.
When my husband and I took our son here a few weeks back we were more than pleased with all the services provided. We were able to bring our own bag stroller snacks and drinks. Although a few exhibits were closed overall the experience was very nice.
We are annual pass holders because we love this place so much.
A great zoo more than you can see in a day with a little one.
Some areas could use a paint touch up job. All the animals seem well fed and otherwise cared for. Family membership is a fair price, although I wish there was an option for a all inclusive package deal. Purchasing the extras takes time away from looking around. Exhibits are interesting and educational. You aren't pestered to buy extras. There are programs for kids and volunteers. Great place
A wonderful zoo. The exhibits are will put together and the zookeepers are friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure to check out the campground critters.!
The pricing over the years is incredibly high.
It's fair once you realize what you get to do but it's really high.
Cafe is ok. Pricing is ridiculous as far as. Beverage goes. That's just my opinion. They were extremely nice and helpful however.
Had a great experience with the children and wife. It would be better if they had an occasional thing to do for adults lol.
I haven't been to the zoo for years, always a bit unsure about the ethics of animals in captivity, however animals do need to be protected and folk need to be educated.
It was a crisp cold day, evan in Jacksonville but it was a really good place, with a wide range of species.
Had a great day and burnt off some calories with the walk round.
Shame no discount for First Responders though.
The zoo looks amazing. But mostly I like when I practice photograph these animal exhibits is pretty good since when other animals are sophisticated. And before we left to the zoo from one more thing, we went to the Alligator exhibit, and it's so cool with the swampy water. 10/10
The best zoo in Florida. My toddler loved feeding the giraffes.
Great for the family! We have the annual pass and go a few times a month.
Perfect place to take the kids, but great for all ages. Great shows too.
We always have lots of fun there. Jacksonville zoo is like 1 of the top 10 zoo's in the country
Great experience a lot to do almost have to get their at opening to do it all
Not enough animals. Eagles missing wings. Animals not in cages
We are zoo members and love going all the time. We really like the new ape loop!
If you are ever in Jacksonville Florida you definitely spend time at the 117 acre facility. It's worth it.
Liked the Zoo. Probably would have had a better time but they're under construction.
We love the zoo! I definitely recommend getting the refill cup, it's like $6 and refills are $1 and you can get refills all over the zoo. It's seriously worth it, especially on a hot day. Also, if you can get the wristbands for unlimited train rides - do it! It's a nice break from walking lol
Amazing place. A bit worried about the monkeys and gorillas but otherwise very nice.
Most of the animals were out and about. Hood viewing of them. My kids and I were there when the zoo opened. Nice but kinda cloudy morning.
Love this zoo! Exhibits are spectacular, especially the primate and Asian exhibits. The path is easy to navigate and the gift shop is fun! They also give great opportunities to people for volunteering, which is great for the community to get involved with conservation
Definitely not worth the amount of money they charge unless you desperately need to get out of the house and call ahead to make sure the animals will be out. The penguins are cool and the playground is cool. This zoo compared to zoos in other states and cities just isn't impressive. My biggest complaint is that even if you get a membership they still charge you a discounted price for virtually everything.
Came to Jax to visit family for Thanksgiving, went to the zoo on Sunday. We had a great time, saw some great exhibits; would recommend!
A great way to spend a few good hours with the family or a little get away vacation.
It's huge and just being able to be around these animals is the best way to spend time with loved ones and family
Absolutely horrible experience! To crowded, rude people and staff! After complaining about to experience to a manager we were told the park was not even at 50% capacity. Guest we re all up close and masks were not required to be worn. I would not recommend this zoo to anyone. My children were so disappointed that they asked to leave and go to a park.
Layout of the zoo with a main path is super helpful so that you don't get lost amongst the exhibits. The enclosures are designed well.
Staff friendly, animals well cared for and plenty of shade for everyone. Prices are very resonable.
LOVE IT. Today, we went to the spooktacular event with my one month year old to be his first halloween and he had a blast. We loved the bettlejuice, the nightmare before Christmas and wizard of oz theme totally going next year.
Admission was a little pricey to get in but my kids really enjoyed it. Food and drinkn prices were reasonable. Love how the animals had nice huge enclosures and looked well taken care of. Will definitely come back again enjoyed our time there!
The exhibits here are very nice and some are really cool with the connecting tunnels expanding where the animals can go. They have the coolest tiger exhibit I've ever saw. Other than that I was pretty disappointed. If you decide to pass on the train like we did once you reach the end of the zoo you will have to walk the whole length back to the entrance so you can leave. By the end we realized what a mistake that was. We found one water fountain the whole time and it didn't hold pressure for very long. We filled one water bottle up before it stopped. There's 6 of us. Unless you want to take your chances filling up in a bathroom sink you'll have to buy bottled water somewhere. It's Florida, it's hot, get more water fountains that work. Knowing all this we'll be more prepared next time since we bought a membership. It's worth it if you have a large family.
The staffs are so caring to the animals, it's like caring for their family. I love how well maintained and well groomed animals are.
horrible place to work, zoo is falling apart, ticket prices outlandish, workers paid absolute minimum and slave driven to impossible standards. meanwhile higher ups to include board memebers, management, and president of this "nonprofit" organization make 6figures. animals arentreated extremely poorly and kept in horrible run down conditions because employees arent allowed to fix things properly with the budget excuse. if people knew the real corruption it would be shut down
Great place for a family day . Parking is a hassle and there are not a lot of safe walking areas so watch out for traffic and no one to point you where to go from the parking areas
My family and I visited from NC and were very pleased overall. They have some animals that I'd never seen before & the layout of the zoo is easy to follow and well shaded which is lovely. My family and I enjoyed the experience and will come back to visit again soon.
I have a membership and I enjoy coming over to relax, walk around and see the animals! :) Great, friendly staff and it seems like they're always working on something new! I feel like I see more and more with each visit. Enjoy!
Nice zoo, always something new, grand kids have a wonderful time everytime they get to go
The animals are always fun to watch and learn about with the kiddos...& the play area & splash park are a nice break when it's warm out.
Family friendly, great views and a nice variety of animals. They are currently undergoing many renovations to some of the areas, but especially to the parking. You can tell they take pride in taking care of the animals and are always striving to improve the experience for people.
This place was slam packed on black friday but we still got our tickets in a timely manner. The animals were awesome and you can tell are well taken care of. And my children had a blast.
Always love visiting. It never gets old. We are always able to see something new. It seems like they have a lot planned for the future exhibits. Many of the animals seemed to have just had babies, so it was wonderful seeing maternal interactions and also the cute babies playing. The tiger cubs were adorable.
Took my grandchildren down there and we had a great time seeing all the animals we will be coming back
Awesome little zoo that I never knew was here. The monkey exhibit is phenomenal. Lots of animals to see, and you can feed the giraffe's.
Loved the Zoo today. They are doing a great job social distancing.
great zoo but watch out the monkeys will try to pee on you from above.
Wonderful place loads of animals, the trip by train is lovely, my kid thoroughly enjoyed the trip, there's 4 D theater, animal show, carousel ride. Go for the total experience bands..
I wish they had more money for funding so their food and gifts weren't so expensive but they are still my favorite day trip with the kids
Enjoyed the zoo alot with wife and grandson. He's three and liked stingray bay and the carousel ride. He also got to feed the giraffe and ride the train. It was a great day. One I don't think he'll forget for a while.
I love visiting zoos anyway, but the Jacksonville Zoo is a cut above the rest. Practically every animal appeared happy and content in their enclosure. All were active and playful (except maybe the hour or two after feeding time).
And it's not every day you can visit the zoo from your boat. But you can in Jacksonville!
First time visiting the Jacksonville Florida zoo my family loved it . the animals are well taken care of and its affordable as well.. Look forward to coming back.
Cleaned up nicely when closed due to pandemic. Staff super friendly.
I miss being able to ride the elephants.... Seems like there used to be a lot more animals. Still a great place to go!!!
This is one of the best zoos ive ever been to. I thought $28 was a bit much for the "total experience" but it was worth every dollar! We saw the 4d movie which was incredible!! We rode the carousel, the train(its very boring, barely no animals are seen) and he stayed at the slash pad (mini waterpark) for about 2 hours. It was so fun.
The zoo was a beautiful place the animals are very easy to see. The only problem they have are the employees they seem very annoyed with the guest. Me and family of 4 went to the zoo this past Monday and we just felt like they wanted to rush us off to close. Now my understanding was that I paid a ticket to stay till 5. So with that being said try to leave at 4:30 so the employees can go home on time otherwise they will try to kick u out.
Had not been there in years. The only problem was the looooong lines to get in! Lots of walking and super crowded today but lots of fun! The babies really enjoyed it.
I use to come here every month growing up as a child I have not been in years so I finallydecided to take my young children, but boy to see how they have grown to almost like a AMUSEMENT park with a whole day of things to do. Its beautiful, plenty of activities for kids, food is great, animals are always active and thriving and happy. It was AMAZING. Plus when you buy tickets you can UGRADE to yearly passes WHICH WE DID. How could we not it was AMAZING My children will now be going regularly
