The zoo in Jacksonville is my favorite place. I went there with the Catholic charities in Jacksonville. It was a great experience. Because i saw all the animals and they have a free WiFi over there that you don't need any password to connect. I really like the Zoo

We had a great day at the zoo. The animals seem well cared for and their enclosures look more than adequate. They had a great diversity of animals. We had lunch there as well and their prices were good. $6 for a kids meal and around $10 for an adult. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable too. I'm glad I finally made it there after living here for five years.

Our family is annual pass holders but I have not visited the zoo since Spring 2015. Several major changes are quite obvious with a new primate exhibit opening early Fall 2018. The Dinosaur exhibit is a great plus and far beyond its orginal days when located near the river. Bonus for kids as they can dig for fossils. A ticket kiosk is available near the passenger drop off before approaching the main gate. Food prices and portions are reasonable. The best concession for the family is in the Jaguar pavillion. You may also catch some live entertainment! Several Kona Ice sales carts (snow-cones) offer a cool way to rehydrate. Feed the penguins! See the new tiger cubs! Kids can traverse a garden maze. Don't forget to ride the train to see some behind the scene action!

My two boys, 5 and 2, absolutely LOVE Dinosauria, the exhibit featuring 21 animatronic life-sized dinosaurs! We also enjoy touching the stingrays, riding the carousel, and riding on the safari train. All of those can be purchased together at a discounted rate. The animals seems to be comfortable in their habitats. There are fun shaded playgrounds for the kids, and the gift shops are decently priced with great souvenirs. Stroller rentals available, but I bring my double stroller in with a cooler and diaper bag. Always a fun time!

Great places but there are a lot of lousy employees. There were more employees standing around talking than doing actual work. And they seem to be in no rush to open the park or the attractions within it. We waited in line for 10 minutes after 9am, when they say they open, and watched employees slowly get ready. If you open at 9 you should be ready to go at 9. It's hot during the summer and lots of people are there and ready to go early.

It was great. My grandson really enjoyed it and was happy feeding the girraffes. His favorite was the monkeys. He didn't like the bird ariums only because they smelled (birds). He enjoyed the carousel animals. He got to ride the eagle. He loved watching the animals in their natural habitats. He fell asleep within 5 minutes of leaving the zoo.

Sting Ray Bay was totally worth the minimal extra charge. The grounds of the zoo are well kept. The introduction to flora was instructional and beautiful. Every zoo personnel I interacted with was knowledgeable and friendly. Although we only stayed for 3 hours my 6 year old son and I had lots of fun.

My two year old had a blast..I have lived in the Jacksonville and St Augustine surrounding areas for 25 years but haven't visited the zoo since once 20 yrs ago... I seem to remember there wasn't a whole lot to do back then but that has definitely changed. They have awesome exhibits...Stingray cove was a favorite...The stingrays are in a shallow pool and swim up to you as you lean over the conrete wall .. You can feed them a one ounce cup consisting of shrimp and glass minnows for 2 dollars but I had them come up to me as well just making a fist in the water as if i had food... And we were simply amazed by the Campground Critters live show which happens 3 times a day... The actors/animal handlers were super fun and energetic and interacted with the critters of the show superbly!! And the animals of the show were just stunning! I was blown away at the different types of animals from a Porcupine a pig, cat, owl..which i didn't think were trainable like that...as well as dogs and a parrot!! Will definitely be back soon...thanks Jacksonville zoo!!!

Good places for all ages! Got an annual pass to take the baby, which is usually a guaranteed good nap afterwards. The zoo itself is clean and maintained. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get out and do something.

The paths were clean and the animals looked very happy. Stingray Bay was by far the favorite attraction. I stopped to feed the cuties for a $2 fee and probably ended up spending $12! Will be back when the new primate exhibit is finished.

Our family hasn't been to the Jacksonville Zoo in over 6 years and were very happy with the improvements that were made! The tiger exhibit is new and was great, even saw a demonstration of how they would perform checkups in the tigers. All the kids had ample opportunity to ask questions of the knowledgeable staff.

Beautiful place. Some of the animals were hiding but it was in the 80's/90's with sprinkling rain on and off. My favorite exhibit had to be the tigers so beautiful and my next would have to be Giraffes.

We had a nice time at the Jax zoo. However, it didn't have many animals to see. I will say it has been my 3rd on my list of likeness. It has nice Asian garden and if you buy to feed animals the one with the giraffe is awesome. Also, great rest areas

I only gave 4 stars, because, while this is a fairly nice place it seems a little run down in areas. I'm generally not a fan of zoos in general... I think animals belong in the wild, but if we don't do something soon this may be the only place they'll be safe. That being said if enough people come away from this zoo, or any zoo, with the feeling of urgency that I did. It may be a good thing. We have to find some way to co exist with our animal brethren on this planet before it's too late and all we have are memories and pictures.

Always a fun day at JAX ZOO. Staff are so courteous and always there to help. Had a great tiger experience today; it was like he was posing for us. We also got great photos of the Zoo's silver back gorilla, Jim.
The flamingos were also in fine form.

Rediculous, unnecessary security that is doing nothing to keep anyone safe, only to serve the needs of the zoo staff, makes it not even worth the drive, much less the money. The stupidity here is epic.

The Jacksonville Zoo is always working on something new to make your adventure amazing every time you visit.

This is Zoo is great for the whole family or even solo. Well manicured landscaping, and always something new! A massive selection of animals to view that are very well taken care of.

Put this on your list of things to do while in Jacksonville, Florida!

I have been to this zoo many times as both a child...

I have been to this zoo many times as both a child and adult in my 57 years and my recent visit on Thursday March 11, 2019 was the worst. We were there at 10AM so it was early and everything should have been clean. The bathrooms looked like they had not been cleaned from the day before. The exhibit windows were so dirty that it made both viewing and photography limited, if not impossible. Our visit was reminiscent of the Jurassic Park movie when the question of whether there would be any dinosaurs on the dinosaur tour was asked. The animals were not very active. The big cats, except for the lions, were sleeping. The female gorilla with her adopted baby was hidden in a corner and then disappeared from view. The male gorilla was hiding in the trees. Most of the animals were either hidden from view or sleeping. Even the Butterfly Hollow, the main reason for our visit, was sorely lacking. There wasn t many butterflies and the school children were so noisy, it scared them away to the netting above. There were also some type of bugs biting at our feet and ankles. The employee blamed ants but I didn t see any ants. The field trips -OMG!!! There large groups of boisterous, rowdy children everywhere we went. Chaperones were doing little to nothing to rein them in. They were making noises at the animals, screeching and banging on the exhibit glass. An employee advised that there was 500 children there that day, 1000 the day before and 1500 planned for Friday. I know the zoo needs to generate as much revenue as it can but it would be great if they would have one week day per week or even month when they don t have field trips or school/camp groups.

Most staff were friendly and helpful, but one staffer to me, including 2 grandkids that we COULD ride the train for free. We waited 15 minutes, then a mean female conductor told us no. My grandkids were crushed, but we still had an ok time at our local zoo.

Love the Homeschool Zoocademy!! My 3 homeschoolers are enjoying their Zoocademy Journey! They meet once a month throughout the school year. Each month is a new featured theme. Our children are gaining new experiences on animals that we never had the privilege to as children. So loving it!
