Quite the Louisville staple! Great food and superb...
Quite the Louisville staple! Great food and superb service! One of our favourite spots in the city!
Quite the Louisville staple! Great food and superb service! One of our favourite spots in the city!
One of the best restaurants in louisville hands down, a staple, and a must go
Wonderful atmosphere and food.. veal was perfectly cooked and duck was excellent
Great food!
Had the lamb chops (in my top 5).
Great Old Fashioned!
The gale bartender was amazing she worked her tail off.
Went last Saturday at 9:30 pm it was packed. managed to get the last seat at the bar.
The noise level was insane everyone was yelling to speak to one another.
Jack's Fry was a a great place to eat and will definitely be back.
But they need to hire a sound expert to quiet that place down.
It would have been nice to actually hear the pianist.
The Tenderloin was out of this world! Great food and great service.
This was highly recommended, however it was an poor experience. The food was average and not nearly what was anticipated. The atmosphere was awful - it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself talk to those in your party. There were a couple other people at other tables that were very loud and very obnoxious and there was no attempt by management to control them or the overall high decibal level in the dining area. Ears rang for the next day just from the noise of the dinner noise!
Covid19 has dampened the spirit... but still very nice
It couldn't have been a more pleasant experience. We booked a reservation for a party for four over the phone and when we got there - a table was waiting for us. Sean was our server. He was knowledgable about the menu and the drinks --- the food was perfect. Simply tasty. We had the brie salad, escargot and the halibut. The perfect amount of food. But beyond that was the exquisite service. There was never a moment when we wanted for anything. Service plus great food in a cool vibe = 5 stars from me.
All of the best, food awesome, service outstanding, consistent. Have visited many times, they set the mark.
Jack frys is a great dining experience if you're okay with a loud atmosphere and small tables close together. The decor is unique and very nicely done, but the ambiance is negatively affected by the noise levels. Food and drinks are very good, but they don't know how to cook a burger medium-well!
If you want to experience Jack's in a more friendly way I strongly recommend lunch. It's lighter, brighter, and you can hear the conversation at your own table, with the same great service and a similar menu as dinner.
Very pleasant surprise we stopped at Jack Frys on our way to another restaurant for dinner. Everything about our meal was excellent. The pork chop was the best. The only thing better then the food was the service. The waitress spent extra time with us helping us plan our next day in Louisville. I would definitely return to Jack Frys again and again and again.
Every food item was beyond expectation! Worth every penny and with an amazing atmosphere to boot.
Shrimp & Grits nothing to write about.
My first & only time so far at Jack Fry's was in January 2020 for lunch. I had the shrimp & grits & was not impressed. It didn't seem like much more than some dark gravy over some shrimp and grits. Service was excellent and I found the decor and atmosphere pleasing.
Delicious food! Great service! Great drink selections! Would definitely come back!
My husband and I were very underwhelmed by this dining experience. We were visiting from out of town to celebrate my husband's birthday and all the reviews made it sound like this place was a must visit. The service was prompt and attentive but not above and beyond. The restaurant is small so it does get loud and the tables are cramped. We started with salads which were forgettable. My husband then had the burger and I had the shrimp and grits. Both were good but we've had better. There was nothing wrong but we had better meals in Louisville during our visit.
Lunch is always top notch. Exceptional service given the time of day...more like something you'd find in New York or Chicago.
We had a large group and we had a great time! The food and service were top notch. Next time I'm in town, I'll be going again.
The place reminded me of a film noir classic from its mahogany wainscoting to the baby grand that greets you on the way in. We got a seat at the bar (did I mention you may want to get a reservation) and admired photos of some of their famous customers. The food was pricy but excellent. This is the place Don Draper would enjoy a KY Bourbon!
I love this place. The ambiance, the food...fantastic! Did I mention the Manhattan is outta this world!
Amazing food always great service and amazing history behind the restaurant!!
Our local neighborhood favorite! Always exceptional food accompanied by the best of the best service. Our go to for entertaining out of town guests. Highly recommend.
I didn't eat here (beyond appetizers) so can only comment on the bar and general vibe. This is a classic old school Louisville joint. Excellent Manhattans, Martinis and the rest of the classic cocktails you'd expect.
My boyfriend and I celebrated our 5th anniversary here and had a great time! Our waitress was attentive and helpful. The food was an excellent portion for the price! We got the crab cakes as an appetizer and outside of the coast they're the best I've had.
I've been here twice, and my experience both times was exceptional. The food is phenomenal and the service is excellent. If you can get there when they have live music it's definately worth it.
It was very loud, especially since we went to hear the jazz piano, but the food was great!
We couldn t get dinner reservations, so opted for lunch reservations. So glad we made that decision. The shrimp and grits were top notch, as well as the tropical seafood special. We left satisfied and talked about the food several times afterwards. The service was spot on and timely. We would go back again and again. This is a must visit place.
Lunch with my new work group. So much to be thankful for during the holidays. Shrimp and grits are the bomb!
It was the best food I've had in years!
Will definitely be back!! The shrimp and grits are to die for.
I eat here very often for lunch. The lunch menu is such a hidden gem, and I've never had a meal there that I didnt absolutely love. The fish sandwich is AMAZING as is the owner!!!
When anyone from Louisville gives out restaurant recommendations, this is almost always the first one they mention. They almost say it with a guilty look on their face like they are giving an unoriginal recommendation. Well there's a reason for it. It's hard to beat.
This is a Louisville must. The restaurant has been here since 1933, offers amazing service and is a local favorite. My usual includes the warm brie salad and the shrimp and grits. It is great for lunch and dinner with friends/family. The bar is small and intimate and the drinks are great. I've lived in Louisville all my years and this is where we go for something special. Treat yourself!
Always a great stop anytime you are in Louisville. You WILL need a reservation if you want to eat between 6 and 8 on most nights.
A great cocktail bar, and the specials/seasonal food on the menu are always interesting and delicious!
The staples are also amazing, you can never go wrong with the burger if you are in for lunch.
My wife was given two all inclusive meals for two for this restaurant by a colleague of hers as a gift. She works a lot so we never had a chance to use them. Unfortunately, unlike most major restaurant chains that offer gift cards, theirs has an expiration date. Ours expired and this restaurant would not accept these expensive gifts. We normally try to eat at locally owned restaurants but considering Lilly s gift cards also expired on us, we will not be eating at either of these locally owned restaurants for some time to come. Needless to say, I think it is ridiculous that a gift card that you pay good money for would have an expiration date (Coupons are different).
Unlike the Newport and Costa Mesa locations the Santa Ana location of Eat chow is actually SPACIOUS!!! As such, on a Friday night we had no problem getting a table for 2 around 6pm.
My friend ordered the club sandwich, which he loved and I ordered the roasted chicken salad which might just be my favorite salad in the world.
Definitely another fantastic addition to Downtown Santa Ana, I will be back very soon to try more menu items.
Great food tonight, but so noisy wife and I could not talk, and could not hear the waiter.
I had the pork chop, delicious, w fingerling potatoes (too salty) and asparagus. Wife had salmon, delicious, and the beet salad, also delicious. We shared the mixed fruit cobbler w scoop of vanilla ice cream, that was excellent. We have eaten here several times, but never w this much noise, Saturday night, at 8:30-10:00. Suggest go early and request reservations way ahead.
Perhaps my favorite restaurant on the planet! Have never ordered anything here that was not over-the-top wonderful. Wait staff is also very well trained and attentive. Be warned though... the dinner offerings are exponentially more expensive than the lunch offerings, and not much difference in serving size. An overall seamless experience every time.
Today was my first time at Jack Fry s, I had an awesome experience. The food was amazing, the waiter Michael was so nice and helpful and I will be going back!
The scallops. Oh yes. The brie burger. Oh yes. The drinks.. Oh yes. Will I go back? Oh yes.
This is fine dining at it's best. Delicious food prepared to perfection. Outstanding service. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Sat at the bar for dinner. Lamb chops were heavenly
Perfect service and menu selection for all. Everyone is on top of making sure it is everything turns out wonderful. Will return shortly
Don't miss out on this very unique restaurant if you have the opportunity
The manager rushed to our table as we were leaving to see if we had actually payed the bill. Pretty offensive to be treated like you can't afford the food, even after leaving a very generous tip!
Great food, service. Higher end restaurant and worth the price.
This food is absolutely delicious. It can be a little pricey but for a special occasion or you're only around for a short trip this is the place to go. I had the pork chop meal. It was cooked to perfection and topped with lots of additional flavor. The portion size was perfect and I still dream about the cheesecake I had for dessert.
Our dinner was excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. This is the reason the restaurant has been around so long.
On par with the best restaurants in Louisville. The fillet was perfect.
This was the highlight of our trip. Historic resteraunt with great stories behind it. The staff was amazing (thanks Lee) the food was SUBSTANTIAL and worth the price. Go hungry, leave happy.
Just a good place to eat for lunch and dinner. A very popular restaurant that has been part of Louisville, Kentucky's restaurant scene for a very long time, locally owned, not a chain.
SALMON (Seared Verlasso salmon with an almond-pistachio crust on wilted spinach and rice, finished with balsamic-glazed Cipollini onions and a tomato-chive beurre blanc.) - The salmon was perfectly cooked - flaky, no fishiness, not dry at all. The crust is such a great idea. It's not a hard crust either - just a nice lil' topping of nutty goodness.
I'm probably not telling anybody anything new cuz this has always been my favorite restaurant. It's long held rolls in Louisville known for it's historical intrigue, charm, atmosphere, and and of course cuisine. my friend and I began with the shrimp and grits and escargot.
For the main course I had the pork chop. it was incredible with potatoes and asparagus cooked medium it was as thick and juicy to the standards of Fred Flintstone no doubt. Also highly regarded for their signature dishes like baked brie salad, delectable lamb chops, filet and their burger is on the top of my list as well. And it's all provided by seasoned, knowledgeable and very friendly staff whom of which go above and beyond to make your dining experience memorable. Casual, big night out, impressing your boss clients or in-laws, it's a must. If you're in town visiting Louisville you won't be disappointed. And if you live here in Louisville and haven't been there yet it will likely become a top favorite.
We have, for reasons unknown, just kept putting this restaurant off. I do not really understand why we did but regret that decision. Had the pork chop and that breading was delicious. It provided a crunchy outside and the meat was very moist. I'll definitely head back for another entree in the near future. Highly recommend Jack Fry's!
Top place in Louisville. Can't miss with this one - book in advance!
Awesome shrimp and grits, pork chop, and old fashion! Definitely a place to stop by if you're in the area!
Simply stated, this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in the world. Once you eat at place like this you realize that eating out should be much more than simply stuffing food in your mouth. Eating here is euphoric, classic. The service is excellent, the ambiance second to none- and the food, of course, is superb. It is a place you simple must experience for yourself. I have taken a few people here from across the pond who have said it is the best meal they have had in years. Jack Fry's could thrive anywhere-I am glad it is here.
One of the best filets in town. I will say that I didn't realize that it was filet mignon how they had it listed on the menu. Was perfectly cooked. It was our anniversary and they gave us a discount for no reason, a free desert with candle and had a little card on our table. It was super sweet. Their chocolate mousse cake was delicious. Their pecan bourbon pie was super good but strong bourbon taste. The ribeye was tasty but they put a sweet beet puree with it so u may want to ask for that on the side or at least not touching your meat if you don't like sweet stuff like my hubby. The caesar salad was a little disappointing because it was one lettuce sprig for 10 bucks but it was delicious with the sauce and capers.
My daughter got a a hamburger and really enjoyed it; said it was one of the best burgers ever; however she woke me up with a sick stomach at 3am so not sure if it was food poisoning or not. She was fine by lunch the next day so may not have been.
I loved the atmosphere, piano music, tasty melt in your mouth filet, easy parking, and creative presentation and tastes of our meal. I definitely will be back!
Back again. I wish this restaurant was in my home city. The food is always fabulous, the service very attentive, excellent wine selection and they always seem to find away to get us in during our convention in town. Not much more to say than highly recommended.
Food was wonderful. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits. Do yummy.
