Hands down the most incompetent bunch of clowns in Oklahoma's medical centers. Yellow team Dr cant read, speak or write English. Ordered wrong MRI and ct scans through the veterans choice program, and refused to fix the same day. Been numerous visits to the yellow team and emergency room both. Yet to find any relief or cause for the extreme pain im going through..

Worked there in dental for 3 months. Got fired for whistleblowing. 85% dental staff turn over being fired or forced to quit. Patients abandoned especially with oral cancers. Dr. Schneider and Dr. Martin worked in synch to entertain their sport of firing staff in medical and dental. Do not ever work there. Sick leadership history.
I visited the E R with BP variances A dr ( Kirk or Curt) Was very courteous. He ordered Xray,EKG and bloodwork. It indicated Cov 19. A test then was positive. Further blood work followed Then the dr. came in and said Your vitals are fine I see no need for.hospitalization. I am ordering predizone and antibiotics . Go home and quarrantee yourself for 2 wks. You should be fine. What relief I have been under med care at this facility since 1996 and have not experienced anything but excellent care. 5 star
I would like the doctors to recommend a hospital that they would want to be treated if they were in the same situation as these patients...I know it wouldn't be this place....it might as well be a factory...they punch in and punch out and care more about the pay check than the patient...FRUSTRATING
It's really hit and miss depending on which departments you are dealing with as to how the service goes. Then on top of that the team really does matter as well. I work closely with the east clinic and receive very good care from them, but though a consult was put in for me to be contacted by dental months ago yet no one ever called. The women's clinic seems to be on their toes in the best way along with a decent mental health program. It just depends.
Dr. Jenkins, he runs test on my husband and never calls with results or makes a follow up appointment to discuss findings and a plan if needed. My husband has spinal stenosis and all he does is toss meds at him, nothing to fix problem just worthless meds and creams. He has very bad knees, he cantt get an appointment date from prosthetics to see if he will get surgery or injections. He was given a medication called salsalate, this medicine after 1 week caused him even more medical problems. He has such severe swelling in his legs, ankles and feet that it hurts to walk, the water retention has made his stomach swell as well. He has called and called, person on phone says I will have nurse call you, 3 days ago the nurse actually said I will call you back by end of day. No one has called. I have looked it up, it says a rare and serious side effect of salsalate is severe adema that doesn't get better. In my husband's case it has done nothing but get worse. His legs are swollen again their size, his ankles are the size of his legs and his feet, he can hardly out his shoes on from the swelling. You call this care. I have never seen him get any kind of quality care from the Muskogee VA. He keeps telling my husband to lose weight but won't do anything to help him. I have cut out all fried food, no salt, he has cut out soda, sweets, pastas, pizza and eats salads and grilled chicken and grilled wraps for lunch, eats a banana and coffee for breakfast and drinks water all day. The gets plenty of cardio during the day walking with his job. Something needs to be done about this Doctor, his nurse and even the VA. I just lost my daughter in Sept of 2017 i can't lose my husband do to incompetent medical care.
This place took really great care of me. I went to hospital yesterday for my stomach after being sick since 08/29/16. I could barely eat and already a day later I feel so much better thank you to the nurses and doctors there for just doing their jobs but doing it exceptionally well.
Feb 2021. Staff in the Rehabilitation clinic and chiropractor are awesome. Super friendly and professional. They strive to help as much as they can. I give 5 stars for overall hospital. Eye clinic is the best also. Only had one negative encounter with the cashier who treated me like I was ignorant and she didn't have time to answer "stupid" questions. If you go to cashier be prepared to feel like you are wasting her time.
Uncaring people I just heard on the news there was a Marine who had cancer and was never told til his primary care physician told him! How can these people sleep at night pathetic! Take better care of our vets!!!
This facilities team of nursing staff & anesthesiologist assisting Dr. Mark Randel were stupendous. This team lead by Dr.Randel speak volumes to customer service & above-and-beyond care from a professional & personal standpoint. Special shout out to Meleeka, aka Mikyla. All of your gave my brother & myself, a veteran s family, HOPE that our government-run facilities aren t all as bad as St.Francis Hospital (main in Tulsa). Now maybe Claremore VA Long Term facility can work with your expediency & all around positive impact that you had on my father, brother & myself today.
Last but not least, a big shout out to the VA Hospital police for extending a warm welcome & professional courtesy to a fellow police officer & veteran.
Sincere thanks, Lee with children, Aaron & Lorraine
An hour plus wait to be told by the doc, 30 minutes after my appointment time, I need to go pick up my shot myself from the pharmacy.... no one could have mentioned that in the hour I was setting there waiting? Oh, and it's not actually at the pharmacy, I'll call down and request it for you...
I have been on hold with their business office for almost an hour and they cannot even answer the god forsaken phone. This is ridiculous!!! I love how well you are taking care of your local veterans...(sarcasm completely intended)
I'm a Vietnam vet and I went there to update my paperwork and see a doctor. They wouldn't see me. Probably not their fault, wrong war, wrong adminstration I suppose... I had to go apply for my service related disability that I had quietly live with for decades to qualify. Still can't call and get an appointment. Guess I'll have to use vacation time or wait until I retire before I can go up and camp out and work my way through the mountain of paperwork.
took 4 hours to see a doctor when I was slipping in and out of consciousness and violently vomiting to tell me they didn't know what was wrong with me and I should go home.
THIS VA saved my Life. I'm praying that who ever it is that will lead the way for V.A accountability will take consideration with MY VA. The Women's Clinic is fantastic. I've had Breast Cancer. The Chemo staff is above and beyond any other VA(s) Facility . I'm hoping however, that other VA(s) will be held to a higher standard, effective service for the returned warrior and get rid of garbage doing garbage things. Please Leave MY VA alone. (please) but look to it as a model of excellent service to our Vet(s) Families and the wounded.
Went to the ER and ended up having to be admitted. From start to finish the staff was top shelf. I was on 4th floor East and could not ask for better Doctors and Nurses. Two thumbs up and would be three if I had a third thumb. Great work all !!!
They will mail you as many pain pills that you want Straight to your house but will not approve medical equipment necessary to live a healthier life. Pharmaceutical honey pot.
The people are nice and do take care of you, when you can get in. Waiting 2 months for a ct scan is not really "caring for those who served". The VA is using the covid stuff to not provide proper care for veterans and it has got to stop!
A one stop shop for any vet. But you have to keep and aware the doctors treatment. You can get lost in the system and paperwork. Ask questions, keep informed for your own safety.
This hospital in a nutshell, poorly organized and lazy.
Elaborative statement; I took my grandfather to this place after they made an appointment the same day they called, expecting us to just jump up, we couldn't since we were having car problems. With that being said, we happened to reschedule and the nurse told us that he HAD to come in or else they would stop giving my grandfather his pain medication. We get in a tad earlier than the appointment, go to the desk and the lady at the desk disregarded our presence to continue her work on the computer. Eventually signed us in after waiting !5 minutes. We had to wait an hour for an appointment they made for us. We weren't the only ones, another man waited 2 hours for his appointment and all he was doing is grabbing paperwork. The lady at the desk ignored everyone and wasn't helpful what so ever. In my standards, rude. The nurse attended this man of which he pointed out that they could have simply made a phone call to point out that they're busy. It only takes a few seconds. These problems aren't just in one sector they act the same way on the other end as well. I can't say all the workers are this way, as there is probably some who do work really hard. The management of seeing patients and being helpful to them is clearly limited.
They threatened my grandfather's perscription, made an appointment on short notice, made us wait after hastling us, made other people wait, and weren't helpful or reassuring. After all that to take my grandfather's blood pressure and sign a paper.
I've never experienced the genuine care and compassion that was bestowed upon my brother. We was shown the difference between a gift from God and a profession. These people know their calling from God and walk in it. We will never forget you. Thank you! Wendell Green's family
The audiology department and in particular Stephanie Hewett went above and beyond what was required. Very professional and courteous with almost no wait time even when I was early.
I have been trying to make an appointment for the last 3 days. every time i call up there I'm put on hold for a hour plus. then they either answer and tell me that I need a certain area and go to redirect me, which in the process I get disconnected and by that point it is already 1530-1600 so no one is going to answer when I call again AFTER being on hold for a hour to a hour n a half. I give up
45 minute drive followed by 5 and a half hours wait to be given half the medications I was prescribed. Pharmacy says oops our bad just drive 45 minutes back at 930pm and we'll get someone to pull the rest. WORTHLESS PLACE!
I had to be transported to the ER on Saturday, my blood sugar was totally out of control..to the point that I could barely function. I have to say that once I was stabilized enough so that I could actually comprehend what was going on, I was amazed at the care I was receiving. I could see, instantly, that it wasn't just a routine they would go through for any patient that came through their ER. I felt like I was their main 'star' of the day. When I was able to be moved to a room for my stay, the phenomenal care moved with me. The nursing staff, even the custodial workers, showed nothing but concern and compassion. By the time they released me today, Monday, I had no questions that had not been answered, I had no concerns that hadn't been addressed. I must have heard, "Thank you for your service" over a hundred times, yet not one time did it seem contrived on not genuine. I would have given every staff member a hug before I left if it wouldn't have seemed too creepy.lol. If all the bad publicity given the general care by all VA centers in the country was weighed against the atmosphere of genuine care given by the people who staff this particular VA Medical Center, no doubt the VA would use Jack C Montgomery Medical Center in Muskogee Oklahoma as their model facility. I can't think of a single thing to say about the place that could be remotely construed as anything other than high praise. They make the veteran feel like he/she is getting the treatment any hero should be given. Outstanding care, genuine concern, stellar medical staff all combine to make this a Medical Center that they all should aspire to.
Love the nursing team and front office in the women s clinic but the new doctor doesn t even compare to dr law. She might of taken a long time with each patient but at least she got to know her patients and took time to discuss a care plan with them. I never felt more ignored in my lif when seeing the new doctor she never made eye contact with me and before I knew it she was ready to send me out the door very disappointed in my experience hopefully I can switch to another clinic soon
I have had extensive experience with the Jack C. Montgomery VA Hospital. My father was a patient in this hospital multiple times, my ex husband was a patient there a few times, a few friends of mine have been patients here, I have had friends who worked there as nurses/doctors/aides here and I have even volunteered here before. The Muskogee VA hospital is a huge facility. It has multiple sections that do very specialized work with veterans. My father spent 4 months in their physical therapy rehabilition center and I was amazed at the results. They worked with him to regain his sitting & walking balance as well as regain his ability to successfully manage making steps without falling or tripping. His strength was amazing afterwards and I was not expecting him to be able to manage his ability to properly manage the stairs inside of my parents home. When my ex husband was a patient he spent time in the psychiatric wing while receiving treatment for PTSD. Their group therapy was helpful for Michael and for me. He was there during Christmas one year and I was amazed at how well they were able to help him decide on the best path for him to follow so that he would be able to find the best way to get into the proper treatment for his diagnosis. I will never forget being able to relax enough to drive through and check out all the Christmas lights with my baby brother who had driven with me when I went to visit Michael because he worried about me driving alone. I appreciated greatly that they treated me respectfully even though we were divorced. I had been the person with him when he checked himself in and I was the only person he called but that does not mean a facility has any reason to be kind to me. The Jack C. Montgomery VA Hospital has always been kind to me, my mother and every family member I have had with me or encountered. The place is huge and vast but it is a place that wants to do their best to make your family better.
The people here care. I ve been a veteran for s long time and until I wound up getting checked in here, didn t think anyone ever even thought of the work that my brothers and sisters in the armed forces did. This crew showed me that their are PLENTY of people out there that appreciate our work and they treated me professionally for my entire visit. I got better treatment here than I did at one of the three major hospitals in Tuls too! Thank you Muskogee VA!
God forbid you have to get ahold of the business office... or the silver team or anybody BUT the operators!!!(who are rude and very short) This is the worst VA system I have encountered across the U.S.!!! You need to take example from the Texas VA health care sysyem. The oklahoma docs do not care, have a serious lack of compassion and seem like they are just reading from an ill prepared script. You wonder why you have one of the highest suicide rates in the nation, you have forgotten us, you have failed (this is meant for the Director all the way down to the doctors) to take care of the ones who keep your sorry ass's employed. I DID MY JOB ON ALL 5 OF MY DEPLOYMENTS, WHY CANT YOU DO YOURS?
My father is now a drug addict because of the pain bills given out to patience from the Muskogee VA hospital. After he overdosed enough to be taken to the hospital, we had to ask the VA to place him in rehab. After he finished rehab, they continue to dispense high doses of pain meds. We can not get any help from anyone. I am taking this outside of the VA.
Terrible experience in every aspect. In person or trying to schedule. Drag everything out. Staff won't return calls, patient advocates won't return calls. Place is under staffed and under trained.
I was completely surprised. Yesterday I called to get a prescription sent to Eufaula Pharmacy for a medicine I needed pretty quickly. I talked to a nurse and explained the situation. She agreed and told me that she would send it to the doctor with the note of me not having a mailing address since I just moved and now live on a boat. I drive to town to pickup the medicine. They have no clue about the script. Unfortunately the complacent doctor just scanned the message and sent it through. Automatically it sends to your last known address. Alright. I call back and hopefully the Muskogee pharmacy can fix this. Well I drive a loud truck and I have to speak loudly. The lady hung up on me because she assumed I was yelling.
*Go over email procedures with doctors. Remember no one is too smart to retrain. Complacency kills.
*Advise patience on telephone procedures. Remember the vets that call are frustrated enough and have little social skills.
*Replace the staff at the pharmacy. Situations like that require empathy. With most, it's hard to train this because we are tunnel vision. "What do "I" have to do to get done with this call?" "I wish they would stop transferring patients to us on the phone."
I was disappointed in the VA this morning. I usually brag about how the VA isn't what everyone says. But they proved me wrong. I won't brag about the VA anymore.
Terrible, Aweful management. Cant keep good people. Management is terrible, wouldn't cut it working for a non-government corporation. Zero Morality. I cant speak any lower of the ones who run it without cursing. Never have the same dental assistants because of those people. Someone needs to step in and resolve that issue. Luckily it's not a private corporation or they all would be fired for lack of retention. Take care of you're employees and you're employees will take care of you and most importantly your patients.
I was absolutely amazed by how friendly and helpful everyone is at the VA Hospital. You don't get rushed thru like cattle as I was accustomed to from active duty hospitals. I witnessed several employees on the way to lunch pleasantly stop and take time to give directions and information.
Concerned that a voluntary patient check in is not being allowed to check out. If someone isn t getting treatment they want, why force them to stay but not actually treat the problem? Disappointed in the VA once again
I spent three weeks in rehab on 5 West. I still get emotional thinking of those angels that work there (guys and gals). The care and outright compassion these people give willingly is terrific. They are the best of the best at bringing vets back from various issues. I watched stroke patients returned to near normal life style during my stay. One young lady had no issue helping my with hygiene issues and had only been on the job for two days. Can't say enough about these great human beings on 5 West. Thank you, thank you.
Had 16 root tips and 2 teeth pulled at the Dental Office. Work was done professionally and courteous. I also had less pain after this procedure then I have ever had. Great work!!
I've been with the pink team over 10 years. They have always been very professional, courteous, kind and compassionate. They help me every time I have a question and they're very quick with responses. They treat me like family which is very important to me. I have moved out of the so-called District of this team. But I still choose to drive to them for my care that's how great they have always been to me.
Im always treated well and everyones nice to me. Since i transferred from Oklahoma city one where they werent helping to the Muskogee one. First 2 months they helped me with more than the Oklahoma city one did on the 2yrs i was there. And now ive been to the Muskogee VA ive been satified with everything. Havent had to wait hours upon hours. Usually an hr at most. Even have had good luck with if i had to go to ER outside of VA. No issues so far. Fingers crossed.
A little slow sometimes, but I've consistently received excellent care here, with the exception of being lied to in the Ortho department. Luckily I had been given the option to use "Veterans Choice".
I was there for 3 days and the care was excellent. Everyone I dealt with from the time i arrived in the ER to my discharge from the hospital 3 days later was extremely compassionate and helpful in caring for me and explaining things to me. I never waited more than 3 minutes for a nurse or aide when i called for assistance. They brought in extra chairs when family members came to visit me. The meals were very good considering i had a low sodium diet.I rate them as high as any other hospital ive been in in the past public or private and would have no hesitation in choosing them again in the future should i need them.
4E The Staff is EXCELLECT PROFESSIONAL COMPASSIONATE The facility is clean. The food was great for me, I wasn't on clear liquids. Everyone from the surgeon to the folks who took care of his every small need for 6 days have been the best. We could not have wished for better treatment. Thank you for being here for my husband and for being so kind to me. Sincerely, Barbara Killion
This place is excellent and exceptional. Very clean. The teams and staff are professional, clean cut (no piercing or multicolored hair). Thank you for the respect you showed my father.
Today, Saturday February 20th I had an appointment for my first Covid shot. The staff was tremendous in their quest to service all in a timely, courteous manner. Each and every staff member was professional, jovial and full of good humor. Special care was taken to be aware of those with special needs. A great job by all and my heartfelt thanks to management and staff. Thank you.
The best VA hospital I have visited. The staff take an active interest in your health and well being. The blue team and dental clinic are particularly deserving of thanks. Not only do they look out for any service related issues , but with their help I also able to quit smoking.
stepdad had complained for months about a hard spot getting bigger in his side..they told him it was gas...a year went by..his health declined...it was not until he was brought to emergency room that the doctor said oh no one told you...you have liver cancer..he died about 3 weeks later...not how veterans should be treated..was just so wrong
